Authorities of the 7 Division of Nigerian Army in consultation with Borno state government and other security agencies operating in the state have banned all forms of vehicular movement in the state from 6pm Wednesday, December 24, 2014 to 7am Sunday, December 28, 2014. The ban follows security reports at the disposal of the Military, indicating that, “concerted efforts by Boko Haram Terrorists is geared towards unleashing mayhem on some parts of Borno state, particularly Maiduguri metropolis during the Christmas celebration.” This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman and made available to newsmen in Maiduguri Tuesday. Usman in the statement however said that; “This directives excludes those on essential services such as medical services, fire services, and the media, duly authorized by their establishments. It reads in part: “This measure becomes necessary in order to further safeguard lives and property of law abiding citizens in the state. “While wishing you a hitch free yuletide period, members of the public are please requested to be more vigilant and security conscious throughout the period and report any suspicious person or movement to the nearest security agency. We wish to assure the good people of Borno state and indeed all law abiding citizens that the military is doing all it could to root out terrorists causing mayhem in the society. “Therefore, we solicit for your continued support and understanding in the fight against insurgents and terrorism in the country.” DAILY POST recalls that Last year during the Christmas celebration in the state, the military banned movements of vehicles for a week, commencing 4pm Thursday,December 24, 2013 to Tuesday, December 28, 2013. http://dailypost.ng/2014/12/24/christmas-vehicular-movement-banned-maiduguri/

When they started by burning churches and killing Christians, the Northern community kept quiet and the locals quietly celebrated. Afterall they're "infidels".... I think dem don burn all the churches, kill all the Christians finish, no one remain to burn again so dem face mosque and Muslims because dem must kill and burn.. Whenever the North decides not to play politics with bokoharam, believe me, it would stop. If the imams and political leaders had been critical of their activities earlier on, it wouldn't have degenerated to this stage. But they did not, rather dem dey blame Jonathan. After February when Jonathan is sworn in again, they would ask themselves questions, 'all these lives we took, the people we let die because we wanted to destabilise Jonathan's government, was it worth it ??' 15 Likes |
