chukwudi44: I do take strong issue with the doctrine of Transubstantiation, which…teaches that the substance of the bread and the wine is actually transformed into the literal body and blood, even the divinity of Jesus Christ during the Mass. And I would say, well the bread and the wine take on special significance during Communion, they certainly do not change, either visibly or invisibly into Christ’s actual body and blood. And when Jesus referred to the bread and the wine as His body and blood, He wasn’t talking about this in a literal sense. We believe that Christ is truly present during Communion, but we can’t go along with this notion of Transubstantiation. And, therefore, there’s a dialogue between Protestants and Catholics on this basis and we sincerely hope and pray that these issues, these debates can be held in a biblical, edifying fashion. How you conduct Communion at the end of the day is not the real issue. The real issue is whether or not you’ve been born again spiritually through the finished work of Jesus Christ alone. ~ Hank Hanegraaff | http://www.equip.org/audio/whats-your-view-of-the-lords-supper-and-transubstantiation/ |

OLAADEGBU: WHY NOT? So God offers us in Christ Jesus forgiveness, freedom and His Spirit to live within us. All this is a gift from God. When someone offers us a present we have a choice. We can either accept it, open it and enjoy it. Or else we can say, 'No thank you.' Sadly, many people make excuses for not accepting the gift which God offers. Here are some of the excuses: a) 'I have no need of God' When people say this they usually mean that they are quite happy without God. What they fail to realise is that our greatest need is not 'happiness' but 'forgiveness'. It takes a very proud person to say that they have no need of forgiveness. We all need forgiveness. Without it we are in serious trouble. For God is not only our loving Father; he is also a righteous judge. Either we accept what Jesus has done for us on the cross, or else one day we will pay the just penalty ourselves for the things we have done wrong. b) 'There is too much to give up' Sometimes, God puts his finger on something in our lives which we know is wrong and which we would have to give up if we want to enjoy this relationship with God through Jesus. But we need to remember:- God loves us. He asks us only to give up things which do harm. If I saw some small children playing with a carving knife I would stop, not because I want to ruin their fun but because I do not want them to get hurt. What we give up is nothing compared to what we receive. The cost of not becoming a Christian is far greater than the cost of becoming a Christian. What we give up is nothing compared to what Jesus gave up when He died on the cross for us. c) 'There must be a trap' Understandably, people often find it hard to accept that there is anything free in this life. They think it all sounds too easy and that there must be some hidden trap. However, what they fail to realise is that although it is free for us, it was not free for Jesus. He paid for it with His own blood. It is easy for us, but it was not easy for Him. d) 'I'm not good enough' None of us is good enough. Nor can we ever make ourselves good enough for God. But that is why Jesus came. He made it possible for God to accept us just as we are, whatever we have done and however much of a mess we have made of our lives. e) 'I could never keep up' We are right to think that we could never keep it up. We cannot by ourselves, but the Spirit of God, who comes to live within us, gives us the power and the strength to keep going as Christians. f) 'I'll do it later' This is perhaps the most common excuse. Sometimes people say, 'I know it's true but I'm not ready.' They put it off. The longer we put it off the harder it becomes and the more we miss out. We never know whether we will get another opportunity. Speaking for myself, my only regret is that I did not accept the gift earlier. (To be continued...). |

The LORD set up the whole salvation scenario. He not only wrote the play, built the theatre and choreographed every scene, but was also the chief performer. To save Israel He sent Moses, Joshua, Samson, Gideon and others. This time, to save us, He sent nobody. He came Himself. He let nothing stand in His way. It meant unspeakable humiliation, Gethsemane, mockery, Calvary, death. All God had and was, He put into the business of saving us. He had no prompting, no example. With a Savior like that, we have full guarantee. “Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life”. Through Isaiah God said “I, even I, am the Lord, and beside me there is no Saviour”. Every Bible page echoes it. “Christ the Saviour is born…”, the angels announced. Merry Christmas. REINHARD BONNKE |

"Arise, GO UP to Bethel and dwell there". Gen 35:1 In Bethel, idolatry and its practices and festivals are forgotten, In Bethel, following the ways of the World is halted; In Bethel, there is RENEWAL of fellowship with God and the REBUILDING of the altar of consecration and commitment to the service of God; In Bethel, there is REVIVAL of holiness and RIGHTEOUSNESS; In Bethel, there is REVELATION and CLARITY of the Will and Purpose of God for our lives; In Bethel, there is RESTORATION to the first love; In going up to Bethel, WE DROP the property of the devil that we have carried along with us in the journey of life; In Bethel, there is HOLINESS, righteousness and REAL PURITY of heart and life; In Bethel, ALL SELF IS GONE and CHRIST IS ALL IN ALL; In Bethel, all deception, diplomacy and struggling for the vain things of life are eradicated. As we gradually move on to the end of this year, it is time for STOCKTAKING and time to listen to our Maker as He clearly SPEAKS and COMMANDS us to “ARISE, GO UP TO BETHEL AND DWELL THERE”. DON’T just pass by Bethel, DWELL THERE! DON’T just talk about it, DWELL THERE! DON’T just pray about it, but DWELL THERE! DON’T just desire it, just arise, GO UP and DWELL THERE until HIS DEW falls on your thirsty soul and HIS FIRE descends to consume all worldly passions and give way to preparedness for the Coming of the Lord. I pray the Lord will give you the GRACE AND STRENGTH TO ARISE FROM TODAY and GO UP TO BETHEL and DWELL THERE. - W.F. Kumuyi |

Christmas or Christ Mass as some call it! 1)The lyrics of Some Carols suggest Jesus was born on 25th of December. That Song encourages Christians to LIE (Since everyone knows Jesus was not born that they-it wasn't written in the bible and Shepherds were living outside their house at night but It is Snowing in Isreal even right now.) Liars won't inherit God's Kingdom!! 2) Christmas is celebration of Jesus birthday. The problem with that is; a) Birthday celebration was started by pagans or before Christ (eg Pharoah of Egypt and King Herod), There is no bible record or historial record of any Christain celebrating his birthday among early christians(1st century). b) Do people Celebrate a birthday in the absence of the celebrant, without his permission? Jesus did not command that is Birthday be celebrated only his death because that is why he came, to die for us. c) The conduct of people who are Christmas enthusiast does not show any trace of Christianity- inflated Food/transport price, stealing, abusive speech, robbery, fornication (Every immorality), lust, envy, Adultery, drunkeness etc Notice what will happen during christmas eve- Men and women will drink to stupor, then as their inhibition grows weak, they commit immorality. All this to honor who? Jesus? Only if he could Speak from heaven! Christmas is just another excuse to party, so many will continue to hold on to it. NB: Emperor Constantine was not a true Christian, he did things a true Christian won't think of doing. The internet has it all. It is sad to say, that he invented Christmas and later other things was added to it, such as Santa Claus, Elfs, christmas trees, all this were argued by the early church Fathers before they agree to keep them as part of the celebration. |

OLAADEGBU: WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO? The New Testament makes it clear that we have to do something to accept the gift that God offers. This is an act of faith. John writes that 'God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life' (John 3:16). Believing involves an act of faith, based on all that we know about Jesus. It is not blind faith. It is putting our trust in a Person. In some ways it is like the step of faith taken by a bride or a bridegroom when they say, 'I will' on their wedding day. The way people take this step of faith varies enormously but I want to describe one way in which you can take this step of faith right now. It can be summarised by three very simple words: a) 'Sorry' You have to ask God to forgive you for all the things you have done wrong and turn from everything which you know is wrong in your life. This is what the Bible means by 'repentance'. b) 'Thank you' We believe that Jesus died for us on the cross. You need to thank him for dying for you and for the offer of his free gift of forgiveness, freedom and his Spirit. c) 'Please' God never forces his way into our lives. You need to accept his gift and invite him to come and live within you by His Spirit. If you would like to have a relationship with God and you are ready to say these three things, then here is a very simple prayer which you can pray and which will be the start of that relationship: Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life (take a few moments to ask his forgiveness for anything particular that is on your conscience). Please forgive me. I now turn from everything which I know is wrong. Thank you that you died on the cross for me so that I could be forgiven and set free. Thank you that you offer me forgiveness and the gift of your Spirit. I now receive that gift. Please come into my life by your Holy Spirit to be with me forever. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen. |
