O you who believe! When you rise up to prayer, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe your heads, and wash your feet to the ankles. [Quran 5:7] |

Washing the hands and feet: As knives and forks were not used in the East, in Scripture times, in eating, it was necessary that the hand, which was thrust into the common dish, should be scrupulously clean; and again, as sandals were ineffectual against the dust and heat of the climate, washing the feet on entering a house was an act both of respect to the company and of refreshment to the traveller. The former of these usages was transformed by the Pharisees of the New Testament age into a matter of ritual observance, (Mark 7:3) and special rules were laid down as to the time and manner of its performance. Washing the feet did not rise to the dignity of a ritual observance except in connection with the services of the sanctuary. (Exodus 30:19,21) It held a high place, however, among the rites of hospitality. Immediately that a guest presented himself at the tent door it was usual to offer the necessary materials for washing the feet. (Genesis 18:4; 19:2; 24:32; 43:24; Judges 19:21) It was a yet more complimentary act, betokening equally humility and affection, if the host himself performed the office for his guest. (1 Samuel 25:41; Luke 7:38,44; John 13:5-14; 1 Timothy 5:10) Such a token of hospitality is still occasionally exhibited in the East. With that being registered, the essence of washing the hands and feet was as a result of the absence of the Holy Spirit, which was not pronounced in the Old Testament. After the Holy Spirit came upon the departure of Christ in the New Testament, Christ, who had stated that he had not come to abolish 'The Law' but to fulfill it, performed the last washing of hands and feet on His disciples; an indication which implied that Godliness is written on the heart (where the Holy Spirit dwells) and not in the washing of hands. |

Moses and Aaron washed only their hands and feet excluding mouth, nose, ear, ancle, face, head etc. Therefore what they did was not ablution and not a routine for prayer. 1 Like |

hero70:No, you're wrong. Unfortunately, Islam broke out from a religious practice that was at the time not given a specific name. The practice of Yahweh had long existed before the birth of the founding father of Islam - Ismael, who, was the son of Hagar, the maid of Abraham's only wife. He (Ishmael) and his mother were sent out after his mother put up a haughty spirit in the house of Abraham. Before Ismael was sent out, an angel of Yahweh blessed him and his mother before being sent out. I hope the excerpt below help you discover the truth. Abraham's first born son by Hagar the Egyptian was Ishmael. It's in the Bible, the Torah, Genesis 16:15, RSV. “And Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.” #Shalom! |

hero70: They didn't wash their whole body, it was only hands and feet and it was done only on that day. They were not doing it each time they were praying. It was not ablution and even the bible did not say it was. Islam has no place in God's plan. 1 Like |

malvisguy212: Don't mind them. Ablution is the practice of pagan Arabs before islam. Muhammad continued with his father's idolatrous practice but this time in the name of allah. 1 Like |
