the issue i have is that they give anything sexual negative connnotations. which marriage. most marriages in nigeria happen after the ppl are way past their prime... at that age then sex is not even fun (pot belly etc). The bottom line is while you should not have sex before marriage, ppl need to be at ease about their sexuality and not feel shame, fear of punishment and guilt about even just having a bf or gf. some ppl even say bf and gf is a sin.

Op, note that by trying to tell a lady to wait till marriage is a way out to encourage her to live a good life for her future by not engaging in sex which could lead to pregnancy at a teenage age and affect the girl's well being.

For a young promising girl to be allowed to get caught by any young man who is ready to take her to bed unprotected could lead to pregnancy and the girl's future destroyed.

Let us take an example of a young girl at the age of 12 and above,with all her fixtures developed and still in secondary school, who is not been counselled on the dangers of sex b4 marriage,this type of girl can be taken an advantage of and before you know it, she has taken in and that meant that she would end up dropping out of school.

Parents of teachers/churches preach on this in order to protect the girl child by telling them the dangers of having sex b4 marriage.

OP, maybe you were lucky to have kept to yourself b4 marriage and when you went in there, you found out that it never was at your own advantage but I would want to let you know that it has lots of advantage to keep yourself till you get married. I don't know why you are here to deceive some other youths who wants to keep themselves till they get married. If never worked for you does not mean that it will not work for others. I ignored the advice of my father about relationships cos it sort of went against what the church was teaching me. I still feel like a schmuck each time I remember this fact. Believe me Sis church don do me strong thing too ooooo.
But later, I learned to realise that obeying the church teachings was really meant to happen in my life. If I had not obeyed, only God knows what would have happened. After all, many were taught these doctrines but not everyone obeyed. U obeyed cos U were meant to obey. Ur default settings is on a good church girl pattern so even if those teachings appear to bring adverse effect sometimes keep being Urself (as in who God wants U to be) and later U will see that those teachings were for a reason
