lol, but really, how would she cope with a Phd and pregnancy or baby?
I think she ought to determine what is priority for her first then go ahead with what she wants to do.

Na wa oh! Una blood too hot. Take it easy. I am not even pregnant sef. I can see it's only guys talking..... And I guess the unmarried ones too. My dear, pregnancy can happened anytime whether planned or unplanned. So because I want to study for a phd, I should not sleep with my husband again for 5 years. Ok oh.... Thanks for the response. I know people get pregnant during the course of a phd. It is too long a duration. No be masters....

Lol. So here is an opinion from a married woman with a child. Get your visa first and then you can be prego if you wish. I actually heard that its better to have your kids while studying, lol. I however know someone though whose supervisor didn't want her to be prego cos she feels it might disturb her work and I know another who had her child during Phd but for visa purpose, please dont get pregnant yet. VO might feel that's the reason for leaving, rather than studies. in my case i deferred my studies for a year and had my baby first.

Thank you my sister. God bless you. That is a more reasonable answer. I have been sitting on the fence on this issue. Infact, started avoid the bed so I no go carry belle and husband don dey vex. Lol. Anyway, I have started making applications and still waiting on admission letter. It would be devastating if I don't secure admission and did not plan a pregnancy. That would be one year wasted.

And if I do secure admission and got pregnant, my preference would be to defer for a year..... But then, I don't know if Phd admission can be deferred easily. PhD applications are not easy to make.... Especially having to disturb them referees and looking for a supervisor. Please any reasonable opinions will be very much appreciated.

Hi Please i think you are missing up my question with that of Fablady:, Please check and please provide answer to mine please, thank you
OtunbaJega:
why do you wanna get pregnant?,. To claim u have a baby born in Canada or what?...Dont u think dat would even affect your PhD program?..PhD students are normally fully funded....so u don't need to have all that money in your account..just something to see you through the first year would be ok
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by amen1967: 8:05am On Dec 29, 2014
Hi Akani, you mean it will not be possible if i apply along with them? PhD is a long time (5yrs), and they should know that i cant leave them in Nigeria for five years now........and secondly the fees should be around $14k a year how much do you think i should have in the account to cover both the fees and the living exp to convince the Visa officer that i have enough...

akanni:

Pally, apply alone, when you get there, you can apply for your family.
Since you have a family, it would be expected that the family will be well take care of while you are away.
I don't think you need to have the tuition and living expense for the 4yrs but having it gives you a good advantage.
If you ask me, I will say have it with extra sefand you should be ok with the financial aspect of ur application.

Hi it seems you are in Canada already, Please help me with answers to my question below,

I am making plans to study in Canada (PhD Level), I intend going with my family, wife and two kids; do I need to apply for them separately or I have to apply alone and submit their passport along with mine.

In this regard how much is expected to be in my account to cover my tuition and living expenses?

Do I need to have my entire tuition for the four years and living expenses in my account as Evidence of Financial Support?

Going with my family they might think I will not come back again, but I did my Msc. in the UK and came back will that help me.

Five years? Excuse me, I really don't think a PhD in Canada is up to five years! If you're applying with a masters degree.

In addition to this, instead you feeling you have wasted a year or so, what you could do is try the withdrawal process most of the time and use your safe time period till you apply for your TRV and by his grace till they call you for medicals,(this will roughly be about 6months -admission and visa processing) once you have done your medicals(which shows TRV on the way) you can do as you want and get preggy for tripplets sef....

my two cents.....

Finally had a good night sleep after 72 hours enroute canada. If you are taking Ethiopian airline, you are doing so at ur own risk. We were delayed in Rome for 24 hrs and the food they served on board?? Oh Lawd!

Thank God for journey mercies though. Trying to come to terms with the cold in Sarnia. Was told this one is even mild. grin will be back later. Lemme try and settle down.

Sup with the food?

Also, any reason for the delay?

Small and the rice is nothing to write home about. The only bright spot is d bread and it's small.

They told us the flight had software problem. They had to get another flight from addis ababa to come take us to Toronto

I flew Ethiopian Airlines and I enjoyed it. We only spent 1-2 hours in Rome. Why did they delay? ...and I also enjoyed their every hour food. grin

you will need to have enough money to cater for yourself (first year tuition and living expenses of $10. 000) and atleast $3000 each as living expenses for your kids and $4000 or thereabout for your wife.

I suggest you apply alone, you can always arrange for them to join you later

The delay might be for safety reasons and has nothing to do with the service of Ethiopian Airline

Even the almighty Delta Airline get delays
