Doortun:At least she's an employer of labour for numerous Nigerians through her oil firm. That way she's adding to the Nigerian economy in a way. Her employees wouldn't agree with your statement that she hasn't added value to lives. In what ways have Oprah added value to the life of any Nigerian rather than talk ill of the country at every little opportunity she has. |

retepmurt: C'mon this is not logical! If she's unsitting Oprah den d diff should be within range, not from $2.9billion to $7.3billion! Except there was an overnite embezzlement dat grew her profit margins as in Naija style |

She bougth Licence for extracting crude oil back then when the chance came and she patnered with a foreign oil company. Anyone now can accuire the license as a result of the reformation OBJ did during is democratic tenure. Also anyone now can obtain license to mine minefield of precious minerals. Back in the military era, it was very very hard to get such license. The reformation OBJ did made those Chineese to rush into our Land. Go to Midddle Belt, you see many foreigners expecially Chincos. So bro, if you do not inquire, do not judge. If you do not explore it, you can not discover it. Respect. chronique: |

WhiteTechnology: Even if that money is with Niger deltans they will not do nathing for tgeir communities too. Show me one borehole drilled by Ateke/ Asari for their communities. The way they claim to be fighting for Niger delta, you will expect to see schools, wells, and small kitchens run by MEND in these communities. Rather when the FG pays them their "let peace reign" fee, they eat it alone and God punish you if you dare question their act. All the millitant fees they collect, howmany scholarships have they made available for kids in NIGER Delta? Bros, we just have greedy people running things thats all. |

Doortun:Mrs Alakija has impacted lives too. When I was a medical student, aside being on Federal Government scholarship and MTN scholarship, I was also on scholarship by her company, where I was paid N200,000 yearly. I learnt she does that to about thirty thousand students yearly all over Nigeria. Stop hating. 1 Like |

IGBOSON1:The exploitation will end in 2015. If GEJ wins in 2015, the oil licence will be due for renewal and i am sure the likes of alakija and other northern thieves will have their license not renewed. If GEJ lose in 2015, the MEND will blow everything up. One way or another, alakija is going to get broke soon. 1 Like |

CSTR: Alakija is a Nigerian and should be held to account by fellow Nigerians for her ill-gotten wealth, Oprah on the other hand is an American and owes Nigerians nothing. Just to add - the wealth of South Africa is owned by white owned corporations and the black politicians are given crumbs so I can understand Oprah helping out there, the wealth of Nigeria is also owned by white owned corporations but the corrupt Nigerian politicians have greater access to oil revenues than their black counterparts in South Africa. 1 Like |

CSTR: Each should make impacts in own domain. Even Bill Gates can't making impacts in every part of the world. Alakija can decide Nepal, Peru, Nigeria, Senegal or at the back of her hometown, it doesn't really matter. 'Impact' is the keyword, and making it when and where needed.. 1 Like |

CSTR: ^^^I just think it's unfair that the Niger Delta from where the oyel mainly is exploited doesn't feature in the top ten richest Nigerians! It's Hausa/Fulani first; Yoruba second; maybe Igbo third; and other minority groups scramble for what's left! On the argument that the Niger Delta has been given enough already, but their leaders have mismanaged it: i'd say this may well be the case, but we'd be missing the point if we advance this argument because it's nobodies business but theirs how they spend their money....it's for them to hold their leaders accountable, and for the rest of us to stop cheating them and give them control over their God-given wealth! If this were to be a country where justice prevailed, the best city in Nigeria should have been in the Niger Delta! 2 Likes |

chronique:I lyk u because u said its non of ur biz. U r reasonably right, buh to an extent. The fact that 99.9% of Nigerians are corrupt does not mean that someone can not utilize his or her own 'Opportunity + Preparedness' which is equal to 'Luck'. Then Luck + Activation is equal to Brilliant Success ('Am I righ?' in Jim Carrey's voice in Mask). Wait for the tym dat u will also av opportunity to get connected to the right pple and lets c how u utilize it if u r not prepared. Anyway in order to freestyle or justify (whatever) her wealth on her behalf, she might inherit some wealth from a relative or got the opportunity as generally presumed towards the tym she invested in Oil (Ask her where n how she got her money); My own concern is the person they compared her with and probably used the 'wrong' english word to qualify the situation: UNSEAT, Am very sure she was not contesting with Oprah b4 this sudden news and Oprah was never envisaging any threat from her, my only CRY is dat how on Earth can we have a DAUGHTER (a Yoruba Woman for that matter) that has such brain to acquire wealth and grow it to that stage and couldnt use 1% of the BRAIN to have positive effect as necessary in her own society (dont ask me dat what should she do?); Meanwhile, the one that UNA let her feel that she UNSEAT(s) makes her wealth by adding value to millions of Americans' (and others) life. So justify the Unseat now. Notes: i know say no be you b d OP buh I feel good helping you to comment. |

I asked questions based on what was written up there. She worked as a secretary in a bank before going to London to study fashion designing, and when she came back, she went into the fashion biz and was able to acquire an oil block;where did the source of fund come from? Her retirement benefit from the bank or her fashion biz? Or is She from a very rich family? If you say fashion biz, what was the worth of the fashion industry in Nigeria as at 1993,that one would have invested in,to make enough more to buy and oil block? Please I asked questions that are reasonable and I'm not hating her for Her achievements. Since you think I'm ignorant, kindly enlighten me;I'm willing to learn. Thank you. InglishTeechar: |
