trillville: An interesting and debatable point. My initial thoughts are the citizenship as they ultimately put the Leadership into place and give them (rightly or wrongly) their mandate. At least that is the theory. When people vote along tribal/religious/sectarian lines rather than on the issues at stake the above may not apply. |

cjrane: EXACTLY!! I just looked up the flight path and it's not even hard at all. Simply break the trip and avoid Saudi airspace. But, Saudi Arabia airlines must stop using Nigeria's airspace and facilities too. 3 Likes

WhiteTechnology: Good question. What did the past military rulers do in developing the capacity of the armed forces - their primary constituency. Less than nothing. It is a 'bloody civilian' in Goodluck Jonathan who cannot differentiate between 5.56 and 7.62mm ammo that should do it quick, quick, now, now. Nigeria is the only country I can think of right now that has gone through a civil war with absolutely nothing to show for it. No benefit at all. Other countries shaken by war have come out with just laws, stronger economies, united peoples, mighty militaries, industrial revolutions. For our information Biafra had a burgeoning military industrial complex birthed on the altar of what Nigeria faces today: arms procurement challenges and blockades. Indigenous technologies were successfully developed and applied but after the war what happened. The vengeful Nigerian state destroyed everything: prototypes, blueprints and the brains behind them and sent us back to the military stone-age. The US and the Soviet Union on the other hand poached the brains of many German/Nazi scientists in many fields not least in atomic warfare and in the space race. We had the chance and we blew it. It will take another war, calamity of monumental proportions in Nigeria for us to reboot our memory, elevate our thinking and move forward. No Nigerian who fought against Biafra has a genuine reason to blame just one government for the opportunities wasted over the past 40 years. You made the system. Live with it. 2 Likes 1 Share |

The flight can actually fly non-stop from Karachi International Airport, Pakistan to Addis Ababa,Ethiopia for 5 hours. Then link up from Addis Ababa directly to Abuja, Nigeria within 4-5 hours of flight. So, they really don't need to use the Saudi airspace at all. Saudi Arabian Airline should also avoid our airspace and airports. 4 Likes

Mynd44: No one is blaming Buhari for the state of the Nigerian military industrial complex but he was a major (if I'm not mistaken), an influential rank then (during the civil war). Having witnessed the victory of Nigeria what did they do to consolidate the gains of indigenous armament technology whether from their compatriots or their foes. Nothing. So what do you expect today. Nothing. They didn't sow, they didn't sacrifice. They cannot reap today. 1 Like |

Trut: By your reasoning, Jona is also guilty of all asari dokubo's violent statements because he has never condemned them abi? 2. Is buhari in govt? 3. Jona promised to solve BH problem and he didn't include Buhari/elders' condemnation as a condition. |

chukwudi44: You are dumber than dumbo. It is only now that you have come to the realization that Boko Haram has been killing people? Are you implying that the Nigerian military does not possess any arms at all? or at least enough to hold back Boko Haram for a few weeks? I do not understand you TAN people at all. If someone alleges that Boko Haram have better arms that the Nigerian military, the president, the army and and you TAN brigade come out fuming in the eyes that it is a lie. But you guys are now behaving that if you do not get arms today, Boko Haram will overrun Nigeria. The best the Army can do now is to contain Boko Haram, they cannot afford a full blown war 7 weeks to elections. If they do how will the various politician including Jonathan campaign in a war zone? Thousands if not millions of people will be displaced. so how will you get them to vote. Things are already complicated as it is, as to how to get already displaced people to vote. |

OreMI22:i think the airlines prefer flying above land rather than water bodies for obvious reasons, however, i think the best route is Pakistan to Israel to Nigeria, no need for Saudi. then multiply whatever Saudi airlines pay before for using our airspace and facilities by 1000% 1 Like |

Mynd44: Mynd44: The difference here is that the so called depraved Catholic Priests will never justify their despicable act with the pages of the bible, neither are they going to start chanting "JESUS IS LORD!" to support their act and claim they were commissioned by God or obligated as Christians to carry out such act. But, I can't say the same about bh, isis or any other islamic militant group for that matter. The question here is not committing the crime as a christian or a muslim, but your source of inspiration which is evident on the fact that such individual can go as far as using the very name (i.e Jesus or Muhammad) and book (I.e Quran or Bible) they so cherish/revere to justify their actions. Have you ever heard any robber being referred to as christian or islamic robber? The point is nobody will refer to anyone or group as "christian" or "islamic" militant if you do not give them a reason to tag you as such (compare BH and ND militant). |
