You don't understand the atheist position. We don't say that god(s) cannot exist, we just lack belief in any god. If some god came down to me, and proved he was god, I'd believe. But that hasn't happened, and no other "proof" is sufficient.

There are millions of people who believe in God and their prayers still haven't been answered and they live in abject poverty while their religious leaders live luxury lives at their expense.

More problems have been solved using rational thinking than religious beliefs. If you are in doubt, next time your car breaks down, pray and don't bother calling a mechanic

I got this from a book, its a little joke on the issue of faith:

If God appeared in person to you, would you say that you have proof of God's existence or would you still accept his existence on faith alone?

I guess it is easier to know that God exists than that he doesn't, since all it'll take to know that he exists is for him to reveal himself to you. To know that he doesn't exist, you'd have to go to the ends of the universe, like you say. This is based on the assumption that the God in question is not everywhere in the universe. Once you say that the God is everywhere, one can sit in his room and declare that there is no God, or at least a God that is everywhere.

The God of the bible is said to be everywhere, among other things, so one can say that he does not exist. But I'm suspecting that you are open to the possibility of a God other than Yahweh being the true one, since you think this God might be found at a place we haven't explored, unlike Yahweh who is allegedly everywhere.

Any rational person must be willing to believe anything, no matter how absurd, if it can be proven using scientific and/or logical principles. However extraordinary claims (such as claiming your god exists) requires extraordinary proof.

It's funny the op chooses to use the word dishonest in order to narrow down a complex position such as atheism. Next chapter would be about how all Christians are Catholics? As a self identified atheist I don't agree with your definition. I consider myself atheist simply because I don't believe in god. I am not claiming knowledge of his (in)existence. Call me dishonest if you must to help along your argument. You can speak of "some atheists" or "strong atheists" instead and still make your point.

Good question. I suppose the ultimate test would be for me to be awake, not under the influence of drugs, and with one or more of my atheist friends to confirm what I saw. If this god could stop time for the whole world except for me and my atheist friend, I think I'd believe at that point.
