ogb5:God bless you bro. We all know that as an Army Officer, you first of all obey orders before you complain. But,it really beats my imagination, how people have become politically-affiliated to the point of criticizing and passing judgmental utterances without conscious in this our country. Going by most of the comments above, you'd see people have already crucified and buried Gej for what is SOLELY Army's action. 2 Likes |

gameboy727: Exactly... This is d main point here which needs attention, yet people ar turning it into an attack on GEJ. I pity our dear GEJ. A man slumps and dies, it is GEJ. A man sleeps and wakes up, its GEJ. Until we learn to address issues and not GEJ, we would not make progress. |

The Armed Forces of any Nation is a National Pride. Any country that has descended so low to ridicule its Armed forces is yet not fit to be described as a country. All this under the Goodluck Administration. What more could'a happened assuming is was a Badluck administration |

xcitedjay:. Ever heard of covert operation before? These stuffs(RPGs,GPMGs etc) don't necessary make winning a war easier. You deploy equipment depending on the prevailing situation and mission. The Army strategists might have observed that light weaponry was best for this particular mission. Hence, they gave the order to these soldiers and instead of them to carry out the order, they were questioning it. Such action compromises missions and endangered the lives of true soldiers. So it CAN'T be allowed. |

omolami: For you a man that has never served I find it dispecable that you now seat and type such rubbish . 30 rounds of ammunition against an enemy that is so fierce in a battle that most likely would last hours is like sending one to dine with the devil with a tea spoon. |

The Army required of Nigeria to stop Boko Haram is simply Cultural Independence. Importing weapons that we cannot manufacture to point at local insurgents does not eliminate the process of people being radicalised to develop BH mentality. The people being radicalised have been inclined from childhood towards a White Supremacist ideology that makes them justify their action by simply making reference to people who are also doing terrorism outside Nigeria. Boycott Church and Mosque for one week and BH will vaporize. Though, Europe and Arabia, will not be happy to see us free from ancestral disconnect. |

No10: I'm very sure 30 rounds of ammunition each would not suffice no matter the strategy. These soldiers know well enough that BH are dynamic and not absolutely incompetent. They know BH have high morale and would fight till the last bullet , and they know once the battle starts whatever happens they would not be resupplied . Now is that not a suicide mission. By the way 30 rounds is one clip if you don't know and a well trained soldier can offload that in less than 5 minutes with 10 bursts of 3 rounds . 1 Like |

dannjo: Leave all these civilain fools to their folly, these are fathers sons and brothers whose families depend on, they know if they die in battle the welfare of their family can not be gauranteed and they leave their family to an uncertain faith. Why then would you take 30 rounds to go fight BH in what most likely is close combat . Some here are talking of covert strategy , please stop your stupidity trying to disguise as military analysts , these are not SPEC OP men these are general army combatants they most likely have not been trained for such an operation. A spec op covert mission on average lasts a few minutes to maybe hours in some cases with limited contact with the enemy(no fire fights) and most definitely there is no way to move 200 individuals in a covert manner, more than 3 tipper trucks would be required to move the men . I study small arms design and military weaponry and deployment and there is no way 1 magazine would be enough. Even a USMC soldier with a light load out would carry 180 rounds or so of ammunition knowing the company can resupply if need be |

Do we really have a standing army in Nigeria?. In every disappointment their is a blessing. This boko haram insurgency is exposing our military as a soldier's without fighting spirit. No fighting spirit because the equipment to fight with is not available. In all the military trials that we have been hearing of no big officer has been convicted. And all the soldiers tried have been making the same complaints of no good weapons to fight with. All money budgeted for military every year have no bearings on military equipment. Where is the money going. Or are we going to say the money is spent on personnel. If we keep looking at the way things are going in the military, one day another group deadly as boko haram will come up with their own harassment. We need to do something urgent. |

No10: Do you know that in most armies I know of there is a minimum specification in combat equipment a CO is obliged to provide his soldiers. In fact to clarify that I'm not going mad I just went over the USMC document for every classification from rifleman to commanding officer in forward deployment. The consequence of not meeting this obligation where provisions have been made to do so is immediate dismissal and possible criminal charges. The experience of the USMC and Queens Marines in desert operations is similar to that of the NA and the minimum ammunition on their armour carrier is 180 rounds aka 6 magazines full every rifleman has to take this minimum and the CO has to provide said minimum . DICON make the rounds we use or so their website claims so FG and NA can't claim "arms are not being sold to us" in this case 2 Likes |

No10:No, it's not true, it's not just any order. The military Act, section 56(1) says a lawful command. If the order or command is not lawful don't expect any sensible soldier to obey such order cos they are not robots. Let dem get good lawyers to appeal their dismissal jo. God will fight for them. 1 Like |

No10:please no dey answer all these ppl think say army Na civil service. Nigerian army just like some folks here are unfit to understand situations at hand. Those soldiers are on-a -need- to know-basis. You don't expect the top brass to disclose all tactics to the troops...there may be moles among them that will disclose info to the insurgents... So all they have to do is to obey order.. Army is a Unit not some organisation. 2 Likes |
