Either BSC or HND, it all depend on an individual as both qualifications is not a guaranty of success or a good life. I'm a living witness, i possed HND in Electrical Engineering and some professional certificate in electrical. Coupled with few years of experience and hardworking, i was able to secure a job as Electrical Engineer supervising a least eight technicians (4 bsc inclusive). They are yet to match up with me in terms of confidence and composure when it come to advance troubleshooting in automation system. Therefore, in all you do it is very important to get knowledge and skills beçause it is what will distinguish you among multitude not only BSC or HND. 3 Likes |

i think this op is getting it wrong. HND holders are more preferred by companies than Bsc holders because of the training and praticals they do.Lectures in polytechniques are more hardworking. The only point you have is self esteem which is not necessary |

DrFunmi:Bt OP ur comparisons here is more of Bsc/Nd nt Hnd, a Corp member can't lecture @ Hnd level, a Bsc holder can't lecture @ Hnd level even @ d Nd he/she most have experience nt jst a fresh graduate! Infact do u really know d difference b/w HND and ND? Pls mak sure u can efficiently put d 2 (HND n ND) asunder b4 ur comparisons! Tnx.... 1 Like |

@ op . . .u can add 2 more reasons to make it 10 if u like . ..but that has nothing to do with how successful the BSc holder becomes over the HND holder. If u don't know what to do with ur BSc Cert . . .u are no better than a School Cert holder . . .yes I hold the HND Cert but I can tell u how many BSc holders I have directly assisted and are now employed and I have a long list of others who still run to me for job placement . . .whatever certificate u possess . . .just be a little more creative and u will stand out, I know a couple of people who never saw the four walls of a University or Polytechnic and they are CEOs of known companies today here in Nigeria. . .needless to add the cars I drive and ongoing building project here in Lagos . . .all thanks to my HND! Bottom line . . .forget BSc/HND . . .be creative and put God first ![]() |

DrFunmi: That is the mis-placed priority I'm talking about. A BSc holder can't sit in the office and design a programme from the figment of his imagination and ask an HND holder to go carry out the instructions to the teeth.. Let me give u an instance.. The BSc holders are the Soldiers in the Army Headquarters and say the HND holders are the Soldiers in Sambisa Forest. Tell me, how can a soldier in Army headquaters that has never been to war front design a programme on how u should engage the boko haram.. If u ask me, its should be the other way round.. U can't sit in the office and tell me what to do on the field. U can't dish orders from office and ask me to go engage boko boys the way u perceive it from your office, perception is different from reality. So also theory is different from practical. This is it. A soldier sits somewhere corners all the funds ment for people on the field, doesn't know the terrain and gives orders, How would u order me to go where u've never been? Some soldiers on the field complain that their superiors give them wrong co-ordinates and low grade weapons and lower ammunitions to face a well equipped boko haram.. Tell me how u sit in the office, u are not exposed to danger, and u ask me to expose myself to danger, giving me low equipment, and all dat and still expect me to perform. This is what I'm saying. BSc is all talk, HND is practical.. That is why u have court marshals sentencing soldiers to death for mutiny.. I can't take orders from u sitting in one office and short-changing me and still ask me to go kill myself. Hell no. I feel for those soldiers men! Its a case of being wrong and benefitting from being wrong. Those superior officers are wrong and they are benefitting from being wrong. Back to the HND and BSc thing. HND is practical and BSc is theory. U can't sit in an office with theory and expect me to practicalise ur theory on field when u aren't even on field with me. I heard some soldiers say they were given wrong cordinates and in following this wrong cordinates, they were ambushed and in a unit of 6, 5 were killed. Tell me how I'm to follow orders the next time such theoretical order come. Orders shouldn't be theory, orders should be practical.. Do as I do, not do as I say.. |

Nawa for pple ooo. The problem with nigerians is that they fail to accept the truth. Apart from engineering students that go to poly for practical sake, most students dreams are to be admitted into a university. Am not in any way saying poly is not good, but they can't be compared. 1 Like |

Really I don't see any reason for this post. This is bullsh*t. In this century it doesn't matter what you read or where you schooled. All that matters is self-determination and the zeal to succeed in life. Ama futo B.tech student tho ![]() |

PAnaceA7: The main reason why i had to cross to the uni is simply becos of the disparity, just like the O.P has done. Knowledge is power, whether aquired in a uni or poly or sec sch. I later found out many students in the uni have empty skull, some robbed d so called poly students of admission 2ru connections and other means. All in all, it's cool being on d recognised side. |

I dnt knw where u guys get ur stories frm! 1.it is totally untrue that all poly student culdnt make the required jamb cut off mark,5 credit pass e.t.c we all know this is a country where admission is very difficult to hv. u are left behind if u dnt have connection.imagin the number of student that write jamb yearly.its also a fact that univ cnt accomondate all the student that applied. 2.its also nt true that poly student are dull.most of them are there because of certain circumstances. 3.there are certain lecturers that are very gud at wat they do.to hv a phd isnt a guarantee that you are the best intellectually. 4.it is nt true that poly student hv low esteem.i dnt knw how u arrived at such baseless conclusion. 5.we have seen many cases of bsc student working under hnd student.like trully is an irony. 6.any position u are occupying today u hv to always remember that u are there by grace, there are many people who are far better than u bt they never had the kind of opportunity that u had. So my advice to anyone reading this is that u shld be the best that you cn be.Dnt despise your little begining |

richardjemedafe1: Write jamb again. This time choose to study Sociology/Social Work which is better than all those courses since you seem to be an Art student else I'll say go for a science course. But while waiting, volunteer your time in any big organization (NGO) around. It'll pay you off on the long run. Don't just plan to study anything. You may be wasting your time. 1 Like |
