So it's those 2 matches only you're judging with? How about the ones we won which I'm sure is more than 2 ?
But we lost nonetheless! You were making it seem it was a pure football heaven while they were away. grin grin

lucho is part of the problem when it comes to matters concerning the pitch.. he talks to much (gosh I hate him when he talks) we all saw his mistakes at elclassico where he used a CB as LB.. and how he manage to escape games like PSG and granada.. even goal.com said that lucho never admits his mistake..
Also the unpopular board of directors who are after money and endorsements are part of the problems also.. bartomeu knows he stands no chance against laporta

LOL @ certain Guardiola would've benched his best players. Guardiola is no fool. When did you ever see Guardiola bench his best players while playing strong opposition? I immediately knew his silly reason was going to be that they returned late from holidays; but the question is, did they return on the day they were scheduled to return or they returned later than expected? Now, if they did return on the scheduled date (which apparently Enrique was aware and party to), why did he agree to have 2 of his best players return that late knowing they face a big test in 2 days? What does this say of Enrique's managerial skills?
You can blame Enrique that he's so far been unable to build a strong, competitive team despite his various rotations and I will agree with you but what he did in benching these stars are not overly wrong. I know that Guardiola would've done exactly the same thing, the difference only being that Guardiola built a more competitive team.

Was he party to deciding that the stars holidays should be extended? What I heard was all south America players who wished to spend spend their holidays in their home land, all had their holidays extended. Mascherano, Bravo and Suarez all spent their holidays in Spain or at least in Europe because they didn't travel home.
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Nobody: 11:52am On Jan 06, 2015
Apparently, Lucho isn't the problem, but the inane board.
But you see, it's like a cycle; if we never had this board, there wouldn't have been a theatre for The Joker to make our rivals laugh.

On a lighter note, I wish The Joker can start putting on Fedora hat, he would have been the complete clown.

No, you don't know that. Again, I insist that Guardiola is not that foolish. Mention just one game in which he benched Messi while playing strong opposition. Oya, just one. (I think I can even vaguely remember Messi arriving less than 48 hours before a match and still playing during Guardiola's time). Guardiola never toyed with Messi. I sure do remember him saying that all he ever does is ask Messi if he's OK to play. Messi himself decides; and of course he always says YES.

Who else would be party to it? A clubs football manager knows he will be facing a big test on the 4th of January. Yet when the holidays of his stars got extended, he didn't make a huge noise. Which kind of manager is that? To now prove he's in control, he then benched them. Serious ode.

Well it's easy to blame the coach who's made his position almost indefensible. But you should be aware that this is our 4th coach in four years. No properly positioned team gets their coach changed as much as that. Let's not lose sight of that fact. undecided undecided

With all due respect to Real Sociedad, they're no longer the talented team they once were. They have sold all their stars in past season. Our line up on the night was strong enough to beat them. Maybe it's all a fate that we keep losing on that ground no matter how hard we try. Even when Messi and Neymar did come on after the interval, we were never really looking much improved as a team, only seeing some chances go wide here and there.

Yes, the moronic board got another unworthy coach. And guess what; this one isn't just unworthy; he's moronic.

Forget about sold players. Winning gives a club confidence. That's what they have going for them. It doesn't matter if there is a change of personal. It's a psychological thing. And no, Pedro and Munir are no Messi and Neymar. Once Sociedad scored, you knew we would be playing against a 10 man wall. Pedro that cannot even dribble past a mannequin? Did you see the difference when Neymar and Messi came on? Neymar's movement and runs started creating stress in the Sociedad defense line. All of a sudden Barca started looking menacing in Sociedad's box.

Mediocre coach? Are you saying there are no world class managers out there anymore who'll be interested in a big job like barcelona's?

I'm not even onto any comparisons at all let alone lucho to Pep but any coach who changes formations everytime, relies on luck to win matches and benches Messi and neymar without reason is just not Barca standard.
Gbam!

Johnpaul88:
I know I don't trust Enrique any longer. But we are missing a serious point here. Those 11 guys that started that match, do they have licence to lose matches? Aren't they fully paid Barcelona players? What if Messi and Neymar got injured, won't they be expected to win matches again?

I guess our utter hatred for Enrique is making us look away from some critical point. Barcelona team should be a team that given any combination of line up, they should deliver just as the best line up.
I like your view bro... But it seems you are forgetting something. Why is there something we call "your best line-up" if you expect other line-upz to perform as much as your best? If they perform as much as your best line-up, then it renders that term "best line-up" useless. Because that would mean every line-up is your best, as they can produce the same, or similar results.

Secondly, what you are expecting is near impossible. Every team has its best line-up and especially in the big games. If the best players are not fielded, then there is bound to be problems. There is no denying, Madrid are not the same without Ronaldo. Arsenal are not the same without Sanchez. Chelsea are not the same without Fabragas, as well as Hazard. Brazilian team ain't the same without Neymar. City ain't the same without Aguero. And so on... It takes certain clubs to play much as a unit without having a key/unique player to do the magic every now and then.

So, having some key players is part of football and one would not expect every average player a club has to perform at such high levels. Just imagine putting someone as Messi's replacement. Do you ever think the person would perform up to Messi's standard? In a big game?

Even Lucho knows he f**ked up big time.

You're used to success because you started supporting Barcelona around 2008/2009 or because we have been winning and topping since 1927?

There's a phase in life where you need to restart, we're in that phase, remember Real Madrid invisible phase? we should always be prepared and aware that nothing last forever, you don't drive a car on the same gear forever, you change gear, this is what is happening.
Before Madrid's invisible phase, have you forgotten we had ours? Infact, ours was just ending when Ronaldinho was brought in before theirs took effect. My point? It's too early to go back to that phase. You don't restart your car every now and then on the road. Unless something is very wrong with your car.

This is just it, if the players are not good enough to start, why then are they being paid by Barcelona? why do they wear the club's jersey? if they can't start matches, then what are they doing in the team?
Why is it that players' wages and/or salaries vary?
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by dmcdad: 1:32pm On Jan 06, 2015
barackohandso:

Messi and neymar got injured a lot last season and we played well without them. If they're not in any way fit, then the fans will understand but they being on the bench in a match where we desperately need maximum points defines stupidity. It's a psychological thing again; the players have it at the back of their mind that Messi and neymar are available

So review it if it makes sense; we use our best players at the anoeta and we lose 3 seasons straight now. How well do you think we'll fare using munir and Pedro with a new Suarez?

I don't respect lucho's decision but I'd have been okay if he had just owned up to his mistakes. He keeps adding stubbornness to his stupidity
All the catalan dalies have been saying this for a while now... That Lucho is being very stubborn and adamant. Falling for the same mistakes everytime, and not even listening to his assistants.

But Neymar and Messi only returned to the club less than 48 hours before the match. I wasn't surprised they didn't start the match. Guardiola would've benched them too. I'm certain of that.

But we're all making ourselves believe it's the sole reason why we failed to beat an average Real Sociedad team that have sold all their best players.
Was it not the coach who asked them to resume 48 hours to keep off? Knowing fully well he had to play a tough tie at the Anoeta.

You hate Enrique, fine you have the right to but was it Enrique that earned us the transfer ban? was he the one that signed the current players we have? was he the one that made own goal in our last game? people are ready to forget any good thing you do as soon as you do what they consider not to be good.

Bro, Lucho is not our problem, the board is!
Was it the board that bemched Messi and Neymar? Was it the board that fielded 25 different personnels in 25 matches of the season thus far?

The baord have their faults too. But Lucho? He is a coward and a stubborn goat!

Everyone here has got good points to support their view of the things happening. But at the end, these arugments are neither here nor there. All we could possibly hope for is that our club survive this difficult time and not slump further down into uncertainty and the attendant shame.

I was expecting an aggressive line-up like the home game against PSG. I couldn't believe my eyes. The whole of Anoeta couldn't believe their luck too. Even Moyes must have been wondering if it was a trick of sorts.

Losing is not the issue here. We lose with Messi and neymar too but not starting them in a game like that when he knows he'll still use them is downright silly. It makes no sense whatsoever

You got the wrong info bro... All players (Europeans and South-Americans alike) were to resume on the 29th of December except for Messi, Neymar, Alves and Mascherano. The aforementioned players were permitted to resume on the 2nd of January. Mascherano didn't travel out of Barcelona, so that was why he resumed on the same day with the others.
