Can A Wife Be Envious Of Her Husband's Success? by sophy09: 3:24am On Jan 07, 2015
I know a lady whose husband was promoted as a project manager in an oil and gas company in Canada. The guy called us to come and celebrate with him because within two months of landing in Canada he got a job in the company that promoted him within 6 months of working with them. The wife on the other hand has been in Canada for 5 years. She initially came to study for her masters. When she finished her studies, she tried to get her permanent residency through Canadian Experience but she was told she did not have enough experience. She was advised to do menial jobs in order to get her papers, which she did. She got her papers through that avenue. She tried getting a job in her field but she has not gotten any yet only data entry or customer service jobs. She brought the husband to Canada and within 2 months of coming to Canada the guy got a job.
On the day of the celebration, she was complaining bitterly. She compared herself to her husband saying the guy does not even have masters. This surprised me. Can a wife be envious of her husband?

Yes.

How supportive are they of each other? They should be fueling each other's ambitions, and celebrating each other's successes. She needs to re-focus her energy STAT.

YES. YES. YES
But ladies do it in a low key/undercover manner

They employ all manners of guilt-tripping tactics

Since u got promoted,
1. You no longer care for me the MOTHER of your children

2. You just abandoned your family

3. You no longer pray/go to church, neglecting God, Most High
who gave u the promotion and can TAKE IT AWAY IN THE TWINKLE OF AN EYE

blah blah blah

Let a guy say any of the BS she said, and u'll see them feministas and pseudo-women
rights activists shouting

He's intimidated by her success
He's not a real man
He's jealous
She shd divorce his unsupportive ar.se
Blah blah blah

All these feministas and pseudo-women rights activists ehn, una be PROPER WINCH/KPIANCE

Only a scornful woman would do such.

Jealous of your hubby's success sounds childish to me.

It is called comparative assessment. Some people make it sound bad but it is normal for people to think that way and as long as it does not make her spiteful or negative, there is nothing wrong in being bothered that someone around you is moving foward and you ain't or not moving fast enough

That shouldn't be done on a day meant to celebrate the husband's success.

The husband's success should be hers aswell. So the 'comparative assessment' she did, in this case is inappropriate.

Just because she complained does not mean she is not happy for him. It is just her looking at herself and wondering what she did wrong. Believe me it hurts when you try everything and you don't get results and someone else tries a little and gets the results you want.

You feel inferior and unhappy. I don't blame het cos I get it . Funny thing is that she feels like a failure and not hating the man or his success

I am not defending her but I have seen what frustration and depression does. When it gets to an extent, you just have to talk as this might be the only way the person can feel better.
Who she complains also matters

The wife is a feminist! That is how they behave...Their blood pressure goes high anytime it is a man that succeeded and not a woman. They forget that different people have different results..the man should dump her stinking, ungrateful atrociously smelling puccy and come I gat me some good women to recommend. grin grin grin

Well generally speaking, I think it's okay to feel slightly envious (emphasis on slightly) but she must watch it! She must not give the devil (if any) a chance.

***Okay, Modified***

First off, I do not support any negative vice.
But let's face it, we're humans and depending on a an individuals personality type, we all have a specific area of weakness; ranging from greed, to envy, to avarice, to gluttony, to sloth......etc.

Depending on an individual's level of transformation/renewal; one is prone to showcase these weaknesses.

The beauty actually lies in us taking control of our thoughts and making the best out them, instead of allowing the negative thoughts rule us.

So, I do not blame the woman for thinking such, she's only human.
But she ought to take responsibility for allowing those thoughts grow in her heart and materializing into words. Power of life and death lies in the tongue.

Personally, I will work with my partner, I will work for him. Whatever he becomes, whoever he becomes, whether he grows greater than me or not. I honestly don't give a fvck. What I'm more concerned about is actively working towards helping him achieve his goals --- building his dreams, making them an apparent reality; alongside mine.

That's wassup.
I am pro family too.

I agree!

She should have 'complained' to the husband privately abd on a different day.

That day was a special day for both of them to allow her frustrations get the better part of her.

thats women for you.

but it's not supposed to be this way. they should be complimenting each other and not competing against each other, bearing in mind that the success of a spouse is for the betterment of the entire family...

The question should be, should a wife be envious of her husband?

The human form is capable of anything but what marks the difference is the willingness to do them.

The woman in question sounds pretty like some who'd rather fend for the man and brag about it later. So much for marriage and its concept of oneness.

Re: Can A Wife Be Envious Of Her Husband's Success? by humnsikan: 11:39am On Jan 07, 2015
It is highly unlikely. And in any case, why would she? He is hers, and she is his. Why would you envy what is already yours. The thought of that itself is laughable.
