Welcome to themoneysavvyajuwaya: living well, spending less.

I am Styca, a batch C corp member, posted to a remote part of Cross River State.

This is a chronicle of my financial life as an Ajuwaya, am starting this thread to hold myself accountable for my financial decisions. I shall strive to be truthful and to present the facts as they are.

The goal is to train myself in financial matters and to apply everything I have learnt about saving, investing and wealth creation.

During this seervice year, I will seek for ways to increase my earnings while I keep my spendings as low as possible without hurting myself. LOL

I promise to make a post atleast once a week. During the course of this thread, I will share with you the challenges I faced and how I managed to overcome them, tips on how I saved, my money idiosyncrasies, my thought on money, wealth creation, being a corper and back again on money.

Feel free to drop your comments, tips and criticisms.

Welcome to themoneysavvyajuwaya.

Yeah bro, the remaining balance is #650. Though the expense statement is an allocation of money and how much for each item.

****** My thoughts on saving*****

The core of the idea(s) that make up my thoughts on savings came primarily from the George S. Clason's classic: The Richest Man in Babylon. That book is like a personal finance Bible to me. I carry it with me anywhere I go. Its simplicity and down to earth approach is what endeared it to me. And I can readily identify with most of the characters in the tales.

One thing I have come to realize about finance and one's saving habit; is the question of,

¤ why are you saving?

If one could be able to sincerely answer that question, I bet you saving becomes a whole lot easier and fun.

Have you answered that question for yourself?

Have not really asked myself that question that much. But it's true when you have a strong reason to save nothing will ever make you spend

yes it is true we need a reason to save. It is also equally true that with our strong reason we still have to spend. The difference here is, when we spend we are happy doing so because our reason for saving have been taken care of.

****** My Budget for January*****

Feeding .......................... 5000
CDs dues ........................ 500
Transport ...................... 2000
Fuel .................................. 500
Recharge ....................... 1000
Relaxation .................... 1500
Total ................................ 10500

Note: I used the balance from the amount allocated to 'Transport to PPA' to make up for the extra #500, since I spent #3750 instead of the whole #5000 allocated to it.

This is my budget and how I allocated the 'operational fund'. Am living very cautious here and praying to avert any emergencies, since I don't have any amount allocated for emergencies.

Thanks Goldpeas for dropping by. Yeah, 10k got me those stuffs. Are you surprised?

I got the pots, curtains and stove for #2000 from a friend that passed out in Oct.

I bought the mobile wardrope for #3200

I paid #1800 for the carpet.

One need to be ingenious.

****** My Thoughts on Saving 11*******

In the earlier post, I pointed out that one have to know the reason for saving.

There are many factor(s) which motivates people to save, for me they include:

¤ To have the good things of Life: Personally this is the underlying factor that spurs me on this journey. I realized that to enjoy the good that is abundant in life I have to be successful with money. Saving a part of what I earn, is an aspect of the equation.

¤ Fear: This is a powerful emotion which drives me to put some funds away. Most times, it is the fear of the unknown and its attendant uncertainities. I don't want to be caught 'pants down' by life's event. I view this emotion in a positive light as long as my present well-being is not jeopardized.

These are the main factors that drive me to save.

What about you, what motivates you to save?
