DieVluit: Nigerians are not weaklings like south africans. we don't need heroes but had great men who without appetite for media worship and blood of the innocent fought against tyrants who ruled during the military era. great men who did't seek permission from the west or bargain the freedom if Nigerians for cheap western acolades.(Fela, ken saro wiwa, Abiola etc) those men fell and more are still rising to carry on the struggle. that is Nigerians for you. strong people who don't wait for a hero made by westerners to scam them. so yes.. Nigeria has no heroes but great men who also took part in freeing your so called heroes from their apartheid dungeons. 1 Like |

DieVluit: you should be more concerned with how you'll be able to afford a generator cos you'll be needing it too. dummy THE people of South Africa are learning to live in the dark. Their beleaguered power utility, Eskom, is unable to meet electricity demand and in November reintroduced a tortuous schedule of rolling blackouts known as “load shedding”. South Africans now check electricity reports that read like weather forecasts: “There is a medium probability of load shedding today and tomorrow, with a higher probability on Thursday and Friday,” said a recent Eskom tweet. Newspapers print survival tips and “load shedder recipes” for food you can prepare without electricity. And there are bleak jokes aplenty. “Q: What did South Africa use before candles? A: Electricity.” The power cuts are hurting an already stagnant economy, estimated to have expanded by just 1.4% in 2014. Both big industry and small businesses are feeling the pinch. Meanwhile Eskom has warned that the blackouts could drag on for months, perhaps even years, as it struggles with a maintenance backlog and a barrage of technical problems at its ageing power stations. There are delays in bringing new capacity online, particularly at Medupi, a heralded new coal- fired plant whose completion has been endlessly postponed. www.economist.com/news/middle-east-and-africa/21637396-rolling-power-cuts-are-fraying-tempers-unplugged 3 Likes |

DieVluit:Abe Lincoln the African slave owner? Mugu. "Man, you wanna talk about someone who was colonised by queen victoria and then awarded a sword of honour as a colonial subject?" Of everything you ever said on this forum this is the only thing I agree with. No Nigerian or African should be happy about receiving anything other than reparations along with millions of severed European heads on a plate for what was done to our lands. Other than that you need to admit you are still being ruled over by the whites you only have had independence for 20 years but you think we are the cowards? You people are stup1d. What did Mandela do for blacks other than making all South Africans blacks look like submissive cowards. |

stillchris: You do need heroes, you just don't have any. If I had no girlfriend, I'd say I don't need one. You need a vision, you have none. You need principles, you have none. You need something to be courageous for, you have none. You need precedents from generations gone by. You have none. You don't knew where you are going cause you don't even know where you came from and have no pedigree. All heroes in every nation come out of a specific set of circumstances. Nigeria does not have that. You have never had and will never have anything to shape your destiny. No Nigerian could EVER inspire THE WORLD into action. Nothing that your soldiers could draw strength and inspiration from, so they run from the enemy. Cowards, you are.

ChukwuCantDie: What you should be agreeing with as well, is that after ten pages of talking about heroes and values and vision and principles and the foundation of nations, Nigerians could produce nothing worth noting. No nigerian could ever stand among Giants in the world. That's what you should be agreeing with too. That's why nigerians will forever be warring against each other with not a single thing to congregate around. With not a single source of inspiration.

DieVluit: how does it change the fact that you will experience the same fate for years to come? President Jacob Zuma has blamed apartheid as the root cause of South Africa’s electricity woes, noting that the system was built to funnel power to white homes. “The problem is that energy was structured racially to serve a particular race, not the majority,” . But this is cold comfort for a country now united in darkness. Eskom’s woes—crumbling old power stations, delays in the building of new plant. www.economist.com/news/middle-east-and-africa/21637396-rolling-power-cuts-are-fraying-tempers-unplugged i see your 1 Like |

stillchris: Bwahaha - these circumstances: From 4000MW down to 2000 MW. 180 million souls... Are uniquely nigerian. They'll never be repeated anywhere else in the world. The firefly has more electricity in its bum. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeCZAR: 6:19pm On Jan 08, 2015 |
stillchris:Politics. The energy situation is a result of Eskom being owned by the government, it takes government time to decide on what's next to built(Coal, nuclear or solar) Zuma would never take that blame. The situation will improve when other units come online soon. |

DieVluit:2900MW of electricity is quite pitiful for a country as big as nigeria, even zimbabwe can boast a more coherent power sector.cluelessness needs to be firmly shoved out of our political arena, corruption needs to be wiped out and transparency introduced.notwithstanding,SA is in a worse situation than nigeria, and i daresay, the situation is deteriorating at a rather apaling rate.SA's economy is run on government electricity;and if electricity declines, then the already useless economy will dissolve like cream in coffee.your health and medical facilities depend on electricity;and if electricity falls, then your already HIV-ridden deathtrap of a country will experience an upward thrust in mortality rate.lets not talk about households and public facilities, its likely to spell doom |

EVarn: Now you see how important electricity is, imagine how a country with 4000 mw for years, with a population of 170 mill maggots, is surviving. It must be hell... so relax we will never turn out like nigeria, that wont happen. in SA its just load shedding: a last resort to balance electricity supply and demand. You can dream for a doom, but you will wait till your eye balls pop out... Your country cant even fvcking run an airline. where is nigeriaAir... useless economy hahahahahaha, can you name 1 nigerian company in SA!! |
