Please talk to any old member of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria MAN. They were working very closely withngivernments. I actually saw import licenses and Form Ms and clear categorization of importation into spare parts, manufacturing equipment and raw materials.

All these were for a short time to get local manufacturing installed for all consumer goods.

Why Africa is backward is because we don't have good policy not because we are not doing the right thing. The government then did not want progress that is while they did not back their action with good policy.

Let me ask you, if the president did not sign the freedom of information bill, will Nigerian know this much about government? Will we be criticising government at will?

This is good government policy.

They didn't give it to us because they no the disadvantage on them.

Oh, oh, sorry. I forgot you can't understand elementary economics if oil is not involved. It was for a reason they call you "The Headmaster of Nigerian Oil Wells." I would rather be an Almajiri Major General than a Ph.D that avoids debates.

Your no primary six certificate alamjiri general, should present his certificate, than we talk about his debate skills. Headmaster of oil?I thought your 419 alamjiri general is the "almighty" with powers to stabilise the world oil prices.

The scarcity was not caused by shagari but by the government that did not empower the people to be productive but look up to the government for daily needs.
If the manufacturers of those goods were in Nigeria would the goods be hauded?
Almost all the goods were imported. What did the government the do in form of policy to attract investors?
Was there any scarcity when Obasanjo handed over to him?

Even though you live in the ND and see oil being produced everyday, you cannot in any way be more knowledgeable about the world oil market than a former Minister of Petroleum Resources. Or do you want his pictures attending OPEC meetings?

This is the problem with Jonathan and his supporters. The context were different. This was a military regime, we squandered our freedom during the civilian regime of Buhari through corruption and election rigging.

Very rich people owned newspapers and were controlling discourse. Please tell me what is freedom of information when Abiola, Aboderin and Awolowo' family owned the major newspapers. What is freedom in that. First of all it means the whole country was under information dictatorship from rich Yoruba businessmen. I am Yoruba and I know what I am talking about. So it is a little amateurish to talk of FOI under military regimes and even more to PRAISE Jonathan for what is just accepting global best practices. Almost all African countries have FOI now and they can't help it any way in th internet and social media age you don't get a prize for doing FOI.

Buhari never nationalised newspapers which was what some countries with military dictatorships did. Also the number of articles criticizing governments were very many and nobody was letter bombed as happened during the time of IBB whose coup address speech formed the basis of Jonathan's campaign today at Enugu

Which policy did buhari institute?

Do you know what the size of our economy would have been if he formed a policy that encouraged the textile industry?

Please do you understand what a free market economy is? Its policies like the one you are advocating that Maduro the former bus "conductor" is busy implementing in Venezuela, that is running down that economy.
This is the 21st century and running an economy is way more complex than mere use of common sense alone. Tell ur oga to show his certificate then we can give on from there to his plans of stabilizing the oil price etc.

You are reciting elementary right wing economic theory straight from websites or from books. What they don't tell you is that there are always winners and losers. Nigeria turned herself a loser by devaluing its currency before building an industrial base and manufacturing capacity. To build a bridge increased by 200% and now idiots are asking why Dubai infrastructure is better than Nigeria. The woman who is running the economy ( not Dr Clueless) is starting to do the surprising - increased taxation, luxury tax, tariffs, import substitution, local small scale manufacturing empowerment. This is Buharinomics, the only difference is that Buhari would not borrow money and devalue currency. If the oil price falls more and Nair a moves to N200 to the dollar, there might be a run on the naira and all he'll will break lose. Guess what the government will do?. They will take us to what Dr Clueless Jonathan was criticizing the Bubari regime for, they will stop weekly auctions of the dollar, ban importation and institute price controls then people will ask wetin happen Jona?

Buhari is said to be a corruption fighter and a disciplinarian.

I ask

What step did he take to see that if he leave the presidency, his legacy will be maintained?

What policy did he put in place to this effect?

This is how to measure national progress.

Even family progress are built one upon another

Buhari' s regime backed the textiles industry and all local raw material generating industries. I don't know why people are so ignorant to understand that Nigeria was a sophisticated country even then. Textiles failed with IBB devaluation . Please try to listen to a 're run of Oshiomole's town hall with Osinbajo just touching on a few areas of Bihari' s economic policy.
This idea that Jonathan made Nigeria's economy the largest is Africa is the WORST LIE IN MODERN HISTORY.
It had always been the largest since Obasanjo' s first term and that was thanks to GSM with its heavy buy all stakeholders in the economy and years of investment in oil and gas industry. When you challenge them properly they tell you it is more like rebasing, that is they were calculating it wrongly before and have now effected corrections.
The man to praise for GSM was Abacha so Nigeria's success stories has many fathers even the ones we don't acknowledge including Shonekan who made LNG possible. Our Economic size is really due to our high population internal competition culture and character not because of some clueless govt.

How old are you? Can you tell us the situational report then in your locality? How was life and economic activities in your area as at then?

Buhari's regime was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode in Eastern Nigeria that depended on trade and commerce while Industries in Aba were suffocated by ragtag economic policies of the unwired general

Let any professor come here to disprove my narrative on how we enjoyed Buharinomics

Buhari sent his Karki boys to invade retail shops in Aba to sell "daily need items" from private shops at a price they deemed justified.

The truth is that he never invaded nor negotiated with companies and suppliers to force controlled prices rather they used koboko on poor retailers thereby forcing most Stores to sell at night or through back doors.

As a result of the threats from the karki boys most shops ran out of supplies or refused to restock for fear of Soldiers who lacked simple knowledge of economics.

The result was scarcity upon scarcity.

We really suffered.
.

U shld av thank the General for the force that made d daily needs affordable and available to the masses instead bcuz from all indication u have shown that his government didn't gain from ds..

Let us add those who have contested but did not win; Atiku no degree but more capable than Jona, Kalu with a questionable degree written in front of cameras but still better than Jona, there was one highly intelligent Waziri Ibrahim in the old days and by the way Architect Sambo also lost his certificates to fire.

We have showed his achievements in the other thread and you ran out here to say they are mediocre achievements.

Now, why will people queue to buy milk, sugar ..Is that fighting corruption/indiscipline?
Is queuing an achievement?

Sell your candidate. The only thing Buhari has told us is that he will give food to school children.

OP you are insulting those of us who went through the horror of the Buhari evil regime in 1984 to 1985.

It is evil to want to re-write history just to sell a dummy politician.

No one in any country of the world like to spend days in queue trying to buy bread to feed his family. today the Syrians are queuing to buy bread due to the war in Syria, some are bombed while on the queue, It will be criminal to claim that the Syrians queuing for bread today like it.

Under Buhari not only did people queue for bread, we queued for cooking oil, we queued for washing soap, we queued for salt. many people collapsed and died from exhaustion in the queues. And this was a time when Nigeria was not at war.

And to worsen things soldiers were flogging people mercilessly on the queues, who likes to be flogged? why do you think Fela called Buhari a craze man in animal skin?

Your claim that profiteering was reduced shows your lack of understanding of economics, just like buhari, people go into business to make profit.
Using the military to break the locks of peoples shops and auctioning private goods at less than the cost price was not only wrong, it was evil. At the end of the day shops like Kingsway, Bata, Leventis have to close shop. People like you go to malls today to gloss around, the same malls Buhari killed by auctioning away their goods and rendering bankrupt in 1984.

Children who did not suffer through the economic stupidity of Buhari in 1984 and 1985 can vote for him, but people like us who saw the effects of his stupidity leading to scarcity of simple things like bread, sugar, oil, salt and soap and the closing of many factories will never vote for Buhari to come and repeat his economic stupidity.
Bros, Buhari still came back and pummelled us with more sufferings.

If only those boys listened to you.
