I don't want to travel to Ibadan again, and searching for accommodation(s) during P.UTME examinations, which can be stressful.
University of Lagos was my best option- but, I'm not conversant with their admission process; they garner large number of applicants and admit meagre amount on merit.
I have to settle for; Lagos state University(Microbiology )

You CAN only cross from a non-professional course to a professional course. BDS nd MBBS are professional courses ..

Thanks Kumpharm, I just got a news relieving me that all is gonna be well. I have a friend doing Physiotherapy presently in Part 2 and she told me its possible. The only problem is when your crossing between two different Faculties, e.g From the Faculty of Agriculture to the Faculty of Medicine. But when you want to cross within a Faculty, then its not all that stressful, more easier: BDS and MBBS. I just want to leave "This Market", that's the crux.

When I get Dentistry and Dental Surgery and there is an opportunity to cross, all well and good. If not I stick to drilling tooths.

okay, hope you know that dentistry is a faculty just like pharmacy? check UI website.i've heard about someone crossing from physiotherapy to medicine before though!

I would tell you what lets do. You are gonna read an infinitesimal part of my travails, then you would understand why I ain't taking a chance with 6,000plus struggling for MBBS from the onset.

I am an ex-predegree Student of LAUTECH, who should have been offered Medicine straight away, if not for the abundance of Long legs in the school's system( Do not presume this to be defamation, howbeit Illogicallity is the norm there).

I had 382/500 in Pre-degree, 240 in UTME and 68% in their PUTME and I was offered Agriculture(Crop and Environmental Protection); whereas LAUTECH's post-utme contains things you wouldn't find in an everyday O-level textbook(A-level and Undergrad stuffs). I have forfeited the admission since becoming a Professor of Surgery doesn't follow the route of bagging a degree in Agriculture.

More irritating the fact of seeing collegues of yours whose capabilities you know flaunting and brandishing Medicine in your face.
Invariably, here I am seeking succour from the Premier University.

I'm a ladokite and as much as lautech's admission process is simple, it is also very unpredictable. that you got 68% or 382 in putme and pd doesn't automatically qualify you for MBBS.. there has not been any thing like departmental cut off mark in lautech. so your 68% is just as much as not being enough when compared to others. I know 3 peeps with 72-75 putme scores and were given MBBS. so i'd say its your fault you weren't given MBBS! don't feel cheated

as for those with lesser marks than yours but their MBBS was successful.. there's a difference between putme mark and connection!

ordinarily, 382 or so can't give you MBBS this time! during my time, my friend had 407 .. he was given physiology!

but I must agree, agricultural sci shouldn't have been the fall back dept! I understand your pain even tho its hard to believe cause in lautech admission system, biochemistry or any dept in PASSA would have been the Fall back Dept with your score.. but thank your stars, you've been given a better chance for a better course at a better school.

Lol... Last time I checked, LASU is the highest ranked state University followed by ESUT before LAUTECH.

Ermm, I never wanted any science course at first. I'm just guessing and picking.
So, Pharmacy isn't my passion.
Don't forget that my first choice was Geology, then.

Lady the thing is this, our test was normal(they examined us based on what they taught us), but the exam was something else entirely; we were examined on few things they taught and the things they didn't. Take for example a day or two to the Final exams a Biology Lecturer was still teaching us things( Phylum Pterigota and Apterigota: Winged and Wingless insects) he knows would not even appear in the 70 questions they would set. Putting asides the fact of how Voluminous LAUTECH's syllabus and also juggling it with the UTME.

...I wouldn't have written the PUTME if not for the SMS gotten from them prompting us to register. I just went ahead to write it to fufill righteousness . My dear sister you and I know there are a lot of illogicalities, 316, 332, 323 all in Medicine, lets leave out people who got there by their toils and swots. There is this friend of mine who had 345 going for MedLab and was whisked to Biology, he even had more than some of this "Medicine people".
I am not against the guys who hit 400, 390...are they not supposed to select from the highest to the lowest?

How many times have you heared a Medical Student(Nursing, MedLab, Med/Surg, albeit some of them are supposed to be there) of LAUTECH wining a prize, getting this scholarship or that?

Its because they are fans of "GIGO", churning mediocrity. If you see any 2012/2013 PDS student confront them with my calumny.

Concerning the PUTME score, last I checked I wasn't informed PUTME would be a criteria for admission via Pre-degree for crying out loud, it was extortion and crowd control. They have a space of 5,000max per new academic year, they've admitted close to 9,000; SMH.

I was at the Students affairs building to complain, and all they could tell me is "go and study Medicine in your father's state, catchment area disqualified you" Weird abi? . If Ondo State had Medicine, I would have longed gone.

You can NEVER cross from BDS to MBBS.They are within the same college but different faculties.Dentistry is a faculty on it own.Call your friend and ask her again!

It is very easy to gain admission in the university of ibadan. There is just only one thing involved, YOU MUST READ, READ AND CONTINUE TO READ. This was how I made it to pharmacy. I started reading 4 the jamb exam around october 2012. I read the whole of these textbooks: essential chemistry, essential physics, essential biology, new school physics, ababio chemistry, modern biology, some part of essential english. I practise all the past question commonly called 'series' twice (english, chemistry, biology, physics). I stopped reading about an hour to the jamb exam and that was the last time I read so much because my jamb result was so below what I was expecting. The jamb result discouraged me to read 4 the post jamb as I thought I won't make it but GOD crown my effort with success. I am not here to brag but to encourage you. You, with GOD are the only one that can determine your future. Your destiny is in ur hand. I am *** by nickname. I will be following this thread in case I can help. KEE ON SMILING
