suxes2005: Sorry, I'm pressed for time at the moment so I won't be able to give you the details of each step. I'll simply tell you the main points. * Get the medical report form get it completed at the appropriate place. * Get a yellow fever vaccination card. * Get a police clearance certificate. * Get a medical aid certificate that works in SA. * Get an airline reservation and attach it. * Get a letter from someone indicating your accommodation is sorted (your international office may issue it). * Go and get the application form and fill it. * Pay the visa fees and apply. *If applying in Abuja, include your SAQA. In case I forget anything, the others will add it please. You can also get clarification on all of the points above. 1 Like 1 Share |

drealsheggs: Choosing to study nursing is a very good decision on your part. You will be able to secure a job and even move around different countries on a Nursing degree/diploma with the help of recruitment agencies (but you gotta work hard). I would recommend studying via Netcare education (visit www.netcare.co.za/23/education-and-training). You will first need to write a standardized exam/test at OLG. If you pass, you begin the Netcare nursing program, if you dont get the required score, you will have to do something similar to "pre-degree" for one year, also at Netcare. Now the advantage of netcare is that it has hospitals all over SA and in other countries abroad, so, you can choose to do your practicals at any hospital closest to your house. Another advantage is that you can also earn money while studying with netcare, once you complete the first year, you obtain a diploma and there are numerous job adverts for nursing assistants in their hospitals, every now and then. Alot of students rely on these jobs, you earn a decent wage and still get to earn your degree as well. So its a win-win situation. However, before you even think of applying for admission, you need to evaluate your results at SAQA ( www.saqa.org.za), the evaluated credentials will be most useful in securing admission at Netcare or any other nursing colleges in SA. Another good and reputable nursing college is Thuto Bophelo ( visit http://www.nursingacademy.co.za). For accommodation, you will find your feet after a month or two during studies, you will find shared accommodation with your fellow students and share all bills. Just make friends and help and knowledge will come your way. Lastly, another good course/program to study is Pharmacist Assistant. The good thing about all these courses is they give you practical training and you also earn money on the job if there's any information else required, please ask and i'm sure everybody on this thread will be able to answer if they can. All the best! 2 Likes |

author=yansky post=29635774] I guess its at this point that I want to just stay back in Nigeria and forget about travelling. It's so stressful I'm just lucky that UCT is cooperative. I've been given an extension on my registration deadline so I can resume anytime. My lectures don't start till june. On the visa issue. 1. I've been processing the medical report since tuesday. After all the tests at lasuth which I collected the next day, they told me I need treatment for something they noticed in my result before they can sign the form. I will take the treatment oh. And go back. No wahala 2. I was not immunised at the airport. They just gave me yellow card with my name on it saying the workers that would inject me were on strike. I paid 1k. 3. Momentum health insurance gave me certificate for 11 months cover after I payed for 12. I'm still expecting a response to my complaint. one day one day I will submit this application 1 Like |

yansky: For the flight itinerary, use flysaa.com or google south african airways. Book without pay and print the final page. That should do. I have decided to return to abuja and complete the process there since I have more time now. General hospital, ikeja was asking for 7,500 naira to fill the medical form. I just walked out |

TYPOP: THANKS TYPOP FOR THIS TIMELY INFORMATION. However, someone that just collected his repatriation fees in Nigeria told me that the ladies at embassy said they are not refunding any money after 28th February.....the deadline. also i want to ask if it is possible to collect by proxy (with the proxy collector having the passport) this is because i have a friend with two sons and his wife here and would not want to lose that huge amount of money. thanks |

UCT require 11 months for registration purposes, February to December. For study permit, you can ask UCT international office to give you a letter stating this. Shouldn't take them more than 1 working day. Unless Momentum ammend your certificate before you apply. Best wishes... |

@ Manager007, thanks for the information. And would the test/ exam be written in SA before one can also be considered for admission @ Netcare. thanks in anticipation. |

I collected my study permit yesterday @ the abuja embassy. I advice anyone who applied in november here in abuja and hasn't heard from the embassy to go check. I just went to check and my visa had already been issued since december sef. And I'm also grateful for all the help I got from the commentators here. Thanks a lot. 1 Like |

I don't understand what is happening with South Africa Embassy. I think they are just there to reap us of our hard-earned cash through their visa fee. I have been given visa twice by South Africa which I travelled but I was surprise when I was denied visa on the ground that my documents lack credibility in August 2013. I tried applying again for vacation on the 26th of November 2014 which I didn't get any response till January 5th 2015. I went their and I was still deny with a very stupid excuse. I applied for a visiting visa and I was told "APPLICATION FOR WORT PERMIT DENIED" (please take note of the typo made by this guys). Now, why was I denied visa? I was told that my hotel reservation is cancelled. Why won't the hotel reservation cancel when the application was delays? Well, that is my experience and I want advice. Should I still apply because I was confused and contacted a friend who said they use insiders to get SA visa? How true is this and what can I do? |
