The Federal government of Nigeria has commenced the ultra modern construction of school of aeronautic and aircraft maintenance engineering as part of new policy in education sector in Anambra state.

Speaking during the foundation stone laying ceremony to mark the full commencement of the project at Akili-Ozuzo, Ogbaru council area of Anambra state, the former Minister for Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah said the project was aimed at inculcating practical and technical knowledge to the students of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

Mrs. Oduah said the school when completed will among other things afford the students of the high institution the technical and practical know-how to be more employable, adding that the school will give the students multiple knowledge and make them acquire experience.

“The school is going to contribute in multiple aspect of our lives and give our children knowledge for them acquire skills and practical knowledge to be employable in near future, I am a beneficiary of this noble federal government project which I am sure will help the students to be better people in future”

She expressed optimism that the project which was mapped initially to gulp N250 million will be completed on time and on specification while commending President Goodluck Jonathan for the new innovative he had brought into educational sector.

The Rector of the benefiting Federal Polytechnic Oko, Prof. Godwin Onu said the project was part of his mission statement when he assumed office as the Rector of the Institution to expand the scope of learning in the school by bringing in school of Aeronautic and Aircraft maintenance engineering as well as Marine Engineering into the school.

“Apart from the aeronautic and aircraft maintenance engineering, the school shall also train students on other sections of aviation like training air hostesses and other people working in the aircraft, so that we will not again depend on using people abroad each time they need to maintain their aircraft, we shall be serving the aviation sector from here” he said[/b].

He said the project which is being funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND has a life span of one year, [b]adding that the school will have a mini airport with runway to enable the students build aircraft, fly and land at the airport.

She upgraded Enugu airport as well as several other airports around the country. Infact, some of the other upgraded airports are even better than that in Enugu. I won't say much.
Regardless, she is still a worthy candidate to rep Anambra north. She's made name for herself and will pull a lot of weight in this election. However, I believe the votes will count in favor of Obiano's candidate. Obaze or Oduah will represent well, so I am not bothered about that zone.

Nna I disagree with you. Don't tell me that all those smooth roads in every part of the state were built by Obiano. Apart from education, Peter Obi achieved many more. In fact we do give Peter Obi less credit than he deserves. I believe that history will judge him fairly. I used to be Ngige supporter, but right now, I'm undecided. So don't make the mistake of calling me Peter Obi's sycophant. The only problem with Peter Obi was that he neglected Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi. That's a miscalculation on his side. But he is still widely popular in Anambra countryside.

I chose not to speak much on Oduah. It's not good to wash our dirty lining in public.

@bolded, I am sure Anambra North will never forget the party that put them firmly on the state map and gave them a sense of belonging... They will reciprocate that kind gesture by voting APGA till further notice.

IMO, Oduah is better fit for the senate job. Events of the past have shown that doing well in the senate requires bold, dogged, fearless and very outspoken persons. Stella has got these qualities morethan Obaze in my opinion. To achieve the great Anambra state we so desire, we need serious representation at the centre. The way the motion to include Anambra in the list of oil producing states was dismissed in the senate was very annoying. Even though Anambra may not be fully ripe to be included as a member of that group, i didnt expect the motion to receive the kind of response it got from the legislators.

I expect you to attack me. You are so predictable. Ngige did less than 30% of the roads in Anambra. The rest were done by Peter Obi. I know the roads that Ngige did. The hallmark of Ngige roads is good quality without gutter, while Peter Obi's road is average quality with gutter on both sides. Give Peter Obi the credit that he deserves. Please provide evidence that Peter Obi stole our IGR.

Anambra: INEC declares Uba, Emeka, Okonkwo PDP senatorial candidates

As controversy continues to trail the list of candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the senatorial election in Anambra State, the report of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) team that monitored the primary of the party has showed that Chris Uba, John Emeka and Annie Okonkwo won the primary election for the Anambra South, Central and North senatorial districts.
This would put to test the resolve of President Goodluck Jonathan, who had declared in Lagos, during the inauguration of his presidential election campaign, that his administration and all the ministries, departments and agencies must abide by the rule of law and follow due process.
According to a certified true copy of the committee’s report obtained by our correspondent from INEC, the PDP primary in Anambra, conducted on December 7, under the leadership of Ejike Oguebego, was very peaceful and hitch-free.
The report further stated that, “Generally speaking, the Peoples Democratic Party (primary) did not come short of expectations as it took place peacefully in all the senatorial constituencies in the state. The result of the primary was generally accepted by the members of the party as the correct expression of their collective wishes and desires. It would also be pertinent to say at this juncture that, that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra State Chapter, did comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), as well as their laid down congresses/primaries guidelines and the constitution.
According to the preamble of the PDP guidelines for primary elections 2014 it is clearly stipulated that:
“Candidates of political parties will only emerge through primary elections duly conducted and monitored by INEC (Section 87(1)(a).
“Political parties are no longer allowed to change or substitute candidates whose names have been submitted to INEC, except in the case of death or withdrawal of candidates (Section 33).
The INEC committee in its report to the commission further stated that the PDP adopted open ballot system to elect their senatorial candidates and during the primaries the voting process was simple and straightforward: nominations were called for, after which delegates queued up and voted for candidates of their choice before counting and recording of scores. The contestant with the simple majority of votes cast was declared the winner. However, where only one contestant was involved, delegates still voted accordingly as well.
