Barring any last minute change in plan, President
Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday (today), visit
former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his
Abeokuta, Ogun State residence.
The meeting will come less than 48hours after
Obasanjo made a surprise appearance at the
wedding service of Jonathan’s foster daughter,
Inebharapu, at the National Christian Centre,
Abuja.
Obasanjo and Jonathan have not been seen
together in public events lately, especially since
the public presentation of his book, My Watch,
which is critical of the President among others.
The former President had last Monday said
Nigeria was facing economic problems due to
the failure of the present administration to plan
for a rainy day.
He told eminent women leaders from the South-
West, who visited him at his Hilltop residence in
Abeokuta, Ogun State, that the nation’s reserves
which as of 2007 stood at $67bn had been
depleted by the Federal Government.
Our correspondent learnton Sunday that
Jonathan would use the opportunity of his visit
to Abeokuta for his campaign rally to visit
Obasanjo who had withdrawn from active
participation in the activities of the Peoples
Democratic Party.
A top government official who is aware of the
arrangement told THE PUNCH that Jonathan had
been scheduled to visit the former president.
He however said he did not have the details of
whether the meeting would hold before the rally
or after.
“I don’t have the details, but I can inform you
authoritatively that the two of them are
scheduled to meet tomorrow,” he said.
Jonathan may use the opportunity of the
meeting to appeal to Obasanjo to have a rethink
on his (Jonathan’s) bid for re-election in
February.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party
Presidential Campaign Organisation has called on
the presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.),
to caution his supporters in order to promote a
peaceful election.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the
Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, made the
call in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja
against the backdrop of the violence unleashed
on President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign
buses at Zololo Junction along Bauchi Road in
Jos North North Local Government Area of
Plateau State on Saturday. www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-visits-obasanjo-today/

So, Nigerian president who doubles as a PhD
holder can schedule to visit an elder
statesman who is not better than a tout as
per his(GEJ) confession.
I wish this GEJ think before he act at least
for once.

Below was what I said last week. I knew this would happen.

I said here last week that GEJ have no choice but to go to Abeokuta and beg Baba Obasanjo but this is medicine after death. Obasanjo has been vilified, insulted and disrespected by GEJ in the last four years. Now chicken is coming home to roost. Obasanjo has never lost a battle in his life. Obasanjo is an Owu man. Owu people have no heart of forgiveness.

Take it from me. GEJ is only wasting his time with Obasanjo. GEJ can't be trusted.

GEJ can do anything that guarantee his stay in Aso Rock. Who knows he might visit Awolowo's burial ground and HID awolowo just to beg for votes.
When Jonathan was doing like he was the most powerful on earth, and forget the people that elected him into power, no matter what GEJ do now he can't deceive Nigerians any more, we are wise now, we don't want a mistake that we will bear the consequence for next four year. If he voted into power, don't forget he has promised us to remove PMS subsidy this year.....

He is going to tell Baba he supports Interim National Government ING if it will keep Buhari away from the Presidency. These people are actually the most shameful set of human beings.

Jonathan should just not waste his time. He needs to go and beg God for forgiveness not Obasanjo. He wasted the opportunity to be the best leader in the history of Nigeria, instead he allowed his friends and hangers on to bleed the country dry.

All what OBJ has put in print cannot be erased you know?

You can't arm twist court to stop d printing and circulation of Obj' s intellectual property; call him a motor park tout and come out in d full glare of camera to visit the old man.
You have to grow up.

First off, allow Obj's my watch to circulate bfore you visit and prostrate for obj's blessing.

If you don't want to sleep, pls don't close your eyes.

Is it not the same Obasanjo who couldn't wait to worship GEJ last saturday?

My guy is going to Abeokuta to prostrate, this is getting entertaining. I said it, Jonathan didn't have the balls to mention names because he knew a situation like this will arise for deniability.

OBJ: So you called me motor park tout?
GEJ: Baba! Me?? Lai Lai!! I didn't mention your name, I fit? I was talking about other elder statesmen sir.

Only GEJ supporters don't see it but even GEJ sees the huge writing on the wall. Desperate times calls for desperate measures if not I don't see how anybody will go meet someone that uses every opportunity he gets to blast you. The guy needs all the support he can get even from people that have publicly withdrawn their support and warned people not to vote for you.

My hope for this meeting is that at least OBJ advises him to run a more intelligent and civil campaign. All these unintelligent subliminal messages are not going to help him at all.

Wow. He is now visiting the same man he called a mere tout? A man that can not bridle is tongue can not rule a nation. A disorganised man who is so careless to lose the shoes his poor parents worked hard to buy for him should not be made president. We should have bought him shoes earlier on, we may mistakes now he is fulfilling his new addition - jets but we now have a chance to oust him.

The onus lies on all of us and posterity will judge us all if we allow sentiments to becloud our judgment.

But he doesn't support him. He has called him the opposite of a true leader numerous times. He even said he'll rather go to jail than for GEJ to continue. I mean what more do you want him to say to prove to you he doesn't want GEJ?

GEJ has the best supporters tho, they can hang on to anything. They always see that ray of sunshine even in darkest hour #RespectToY'All

Why are these APC members pained
GEJ is not visiting ur frog eyed man Ceo of ur party
OBJ has never dump pdp, he's still a card carrying member even though he's dormant

Enemies in politics is within and outside the party why are you now ranting like d dead that doesn't have a child before kicking d bucket to offer her 7th day prayer if they refuse to settle things
