2. No vessels are abandoned - they are under scheduled maintenance and are being run according to needs. When we needed 2, we had 2 at sea, now only one is needed so we have taken the opportunity to perform maintenance in preparation of the upcoming year of operations.

3. Subs are under scheduled maintenance, and are being run according to plan with 1 operational, 1 being used for training and 1 under refit.

South African Navy is doing what professional navies do - maintenance. Need I remind you that the German Navy (an institution renowned for efficiency and professionalism has exactly the same ratio's of roughly 1/3 of vessels operational at any one time)

And yes, we are getting 8 OPV's for exactly this reason - to remove the strain on the frigate flotilla.
