Nigerians May Vote With Temporary Voters Card- House Of Reps. by Nobody: 8:36pm On Jan 13, 2015 |
The Nigerian House of Representatives on Tuesday approved the use of temporary voters cards by Nigerians for the 2015 general elections. This brings respite to Nigerians that have complained and condemned the distribution of the Permanent Voters Cards since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began distribution of the cards. INEC had severally had to explain to Nigerians why some people who registered and have the temporary voters cards could not find get the Permanent Voters Cards during distribution. Some Nigerians including politicians had accused the electoral umpire of planning something sinister ahead of the elections. Some others claimed it may be a ploy by some politicians to rig elections by making sure that people in areas where they are not sure of votes do not get their cards. Confirming the approval through a series of tweets on Tuesday, a member of the House representing Surulere Federal Constituency, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the House agreed that those who do not have the Permanent Voters Cards should be allowed by INEC to exercise their rights during the elections. “Today on the floor of House of Representatives, I presented a motion to enable Nigerians use Temporary Voters’ Card during 2015 elections “Data of such persons must be verifiable on the voters register at the polling center on day of election. “The motion would ensure registered and eligible voters will not be disenfranchised in the 2015 general elections. “My colleagues supported the motion to use Temporary Voters Cards on (the) day of election and it therefore scaled through. “House concluded that INEC should include in its election guidelines a provision(s) allowing registered voters with TVC (temporary voters cards) to vote,” Gbajabiamila said. This is a welcome development. INEC must not disenfranchise the masses based on INEC's own incompetence. Imagine a zone in the South which posted over 7million registered voters having less than 60% PVC collection. Suspicion and fraudulent theories thrive under such circumstance and rightly so. |

PDP will use it to rig. It won't work oooooo. It is PVC that will be used and that is FINAL |

I don't want to vote so I have not collected my PVC. If the temporary voters card will be used, I may change my mind in the last minute to vote. |

barcanista: Barcanista, people complained of the stress associated with the collection of their PVC, there is complain about total incoordination and orderliness in the process of giving out the cards to would be voters. The APC party leaders were the ones who pushed forward the position Femi pushed forward, it was a party decision to accommodate more voters. Lagos cant be said to have 4million voters when the governors of the state cant get his PVC. INEC will still use its updated and data-verified register that it have uploaded into its data base and all Voters will have their fingerprints verified and confirmed before voting will commence So it wont be like the way it was done before. PVC holders will have their card read on the card readers while TVC holders will have their finger-print taken on the system |

jmoore:There are other elective offices at both the state and national level, please don't be disenfranchised. As for the Presidential Candidate, Support General Muhammadu Buhari. Let us usher in change |
Re: Nigerians May Vote With Temporary Voters Card- House Of Reps. by Nobody: 9:57pm On Jan 13, 2015 |
pendy79:Okay, I see. So what will happen next? With PVC, rigging is minimised but not so with TVC where Politicians can vote on behalf of electorates, there will be case of ballot stuffing and stuff. That can be controlled with PVC. Personally, I want INEC to stick to PVC, the same PVC that was used in Osun and Ekiti states |
Re: Nigerians May Vote With Temporary Voters Card- House Of Reps. by pendy79: 10:03pm On Jan 13, 2015 |
barcanista: Yeah true, but then it will be unfair to deny millions the opportunity to exercise their civic right and duty. I don't know if INEC will accept the directive yet though. |
Re: Nigerians May Vote With Temporary Voters Card- House Of Reps. by Nobody: 10:07pm On Jan 13, 2015 |
pendy79:Bros, I can bet that INEC won't accept and they can't force it down his throat. It is better for 2 million legitimate Lagosians to vote than for 4 million partly legitimate and partly illegitimate votes. We should appeal to people to defy the stress and get their PVCs once and for all |

Rigging!!! Alert. IMHO I don't support this Upon millions spent They could shift the election to a later date Even with PVC election will still be rigged (both APC and PDP) though it will be reduced to the bearest minimum But with TVC .. Itz gonna be a field day for the best rigger 1 Like 2 Shares |

APC will KILL themselves with this motion. Is APC cursed!!!?. PDP will unleash their rigging machinery if this goes through. I thought these guys were seasoned politicians. Be rest assured that if TVC is used. PDP will post 98% voter turn out in SE, SS & NC. The rather unfortunate incidences of some people locking people up to vote for PDP will happen again this year. Watch it, no PDP person will reject this motion because they know what they can reap from it. APC needs a lot of work to convinced me they are not cursed to remain perpetually in opposition. 1 Like 2 Shares |

barcanista: Let see how it plays out. But it is not about those who didn't collect their PVC but those that were affected by INEC's system crash and dataloss. |

pendy79:bros, trust me with the TVC the election will be massively rigged. It is better we leave it at PVC so that we can know expected number of voters and deduce it with actual number of vote cast. |
