CNN Refuses To interview Poorly Equipped US Troops U.S. soldiers lack best protective gear By Jonathan Turley I recently received a note from one of the few husbands who knows just what his wife wants as a holiday gift. The Army sergeant (who asked to remain anonymous) e-mailed me from Iraq asking my help in finding him a store to buy body armor for his wife. Both the sergeant and his wife are serving in Iraq, and both have seen action. But, like thousands of U.S. soldiers, his wife was not given the vital ceramic plates for her Kevlar Interceptor vest to protect her from bullet wounds. Instead, he said, she had to scavenge to find plates left behind by Iraqi soldiers — plates of inferior quality that do not properly fit her vest. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2003-12-17-turley_x.htm Study: U.S. Soldiers Not Adequately Equipped for War By Sandra I. CNN Fails To Interview Canadian Troops Canadian Troops Spending Their Own Money on Equipment KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Canada's front line combat troops in Afghanistan may belong to a national army, but much of their clothing and equipment on this mission is privately owned -- paid for out of their own pockets -- because the gear supplied by the military is inadequate, soldiers say. More than a dozen soldiers, who were interviewed during operations this month north of Kandahar, say the non-shooting equipment issued by the military simply isn't comfortable, strong enough or safe enough for this rugged and dangerous mission. While their actual uniforms are all military-issue, many soldiers say they spent hundreds, and in some cases thousands, of dollars of their own money on everything from desert boots to ammunition vests before coming to Afghanistan. "I dropped a grand on gear before I came over here," says one non-commissioned officer with the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, who asked that his name not be published. "The stuff the army issues is useless." http://forums.canadiancontent.net/news/44714-canadian-troops-spending-their-own.html 1 Like |

CNN Refuses To Interview British Soldiers ''The British deaths [in Iraq and Afghanistan] have ignited a political firestorm back home. Critics have accused the Ministry of Defense of skimping on key, specialized equipment, including blast-resistant trucks (to protect against roadside bombs) and heavylift helicopters (to keep as many soldiers as possible off the highways). Much of the gear that has been purchased has been found to be substandard. “In the annals of MoD incompetence, this saga must surely stand out in a class of its own,” writes Richard North, author of the new book Ministry of Defeat, detailing the Brits’ mis-steps in Iraq.'' http://www.wired.com/2009/07/in-afghanistan-bloodied-brits-struggle-with-inadequate-gear/ British ex-commander hits out over 'inadequate kit' in Afghanistan http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/mar/14/british-ex-commander-hits-out-inadequate-kit-afghanistan 6 Likes |

i can't really tell wot d US want frm Nigeria; they once offered to help fight insurgency out of nigeria, but pulled out maybe bcoz negotiations did nt go thier way, then came the case of ebola. they claimed they had d cure bt refused 2 release 2 nigeria fortunately naija fought out ebola then they came bk begging nigeria to help them fight ebola. situations suggest d fact dat d US dont mean well 4 our dear country. now they cannot remove d log in thier eye buh want remove d stick in our eyes. and nigerian youths will not see all this while they fall 4 thier cheap propaganda n lies... if gmb wins, den i fear dat our level of slavery 2 US will rise. he might hv accepted 2 grant dem access into our oil wells once he becomed president so as to get dem on his syd. pls fellow youths lets hv a rethink... 9 Likes |

The whole world knows that the Nigerian Army is ill-equipped and not well trained. Action they say, speaks louder then words. 6 Likes |

This is the kind of mindset that has made Nigeria such a backward country. Question is "is the Nigerian Army poorly equipped or not"?? "Is there massive corruption in the military or not"?? Is CNN the only media house that has reported about the rot in the system?? When we fought Ebola to a stand still, we got a lot of accolades from the international media including CNN. CNN even berated the US govt for their sloppy handling of the situation when a country as poorly equipped as Nigeria stopped the advancement of the scourge in its track!! They said the US has a lot to learn from us! Now, you get what you deserve. Do your job diligently and see people praise you. Do it in a shoddy manner and attract criticism in equal measure. CNN is not our problem. Leadership is. 10 Likes |

geedeex2: I see! That's reason why they always run away from BH during battles. To think of it, BH is a not even a military per see with will trained men. They are mostly some under-aged, ill-trained, fanatical touts with guns and a lot of motivation of getting some heavenly virgins. |

donnypool: Keep living in denial, it will only crush your country. BH are killing a lot of innocent citizens everyday that's the fact I know today. Another fact at present is that Nigeria Army is ill-equipped, and I believe is the reason they have been losing the war to BH for 6 years. PS. I get am before no be property, and BTW this is another kind of war they need to get training for. Re-training in every profession is vital because nothing is constant and you must be positioned to always face new challenges. |

OP, personally I don't care about you or others going all out to defend this corrupt government but if it's at the expense of our lives then it's absolutely wrong. Nigerians are being killed in their thousands and being turned into refugees in their country and all you can pinpoint is one or two Americans complaining about not having quality equipment in a foreign country. Are you alright? . 2 Likes |

asala1: stop living in denial. if a certain party is using terrorism as part of their campaign, that should tell you that boko haram issue is not being fought by everybody, and that include people in the military as well. sometimes we hear news about army killing 100 boko haram, some people are always not happy about it. they groan and moan in bitterness, they ask question of "how are we sure they are not innocent citizen?" blah blah blah. If every Nigerian want terrorism be stopped, we don't need a new president to stop it. P.S remember the news about the man that volunteer his daughter to be used as a suicide bomber? what does that tell you? 1 Like |

luvmijeje:You have no brain. Were the "one or two Americans" not referring to the generality of the troops? Were US lives not lost as a result of their poor equipment? Did thousands of Americans not die in those campaigns? Why did CNN not highlight the problem? Is that not blatant hypocrisy and double standards? Better stick in the kitchen where you belong. 3 Likes |
