Polynomial is somehow easy to solve but in a wider stage it becomes a bit difficult.

Okay Try This

© Solve the Polynomial equation below to prove that X=1+√3 or 1–√3

X3–X2–4X–2=0

The above question came in the form it is and I have tried several times to solve it, but couldn't.

The most impressive thing is that 1–√3 or 1+√3 when applied separately into the question for X, will give a perfect 0. So wonderful, I know some intelligent one than me can solve this.

No attempt uptill now, I will forget about this question. I am tired of it myself, it frustrate me a lot.

tu kno more on dis question,go and read more on polynomial.by factor theorem,subt x=-1 int d cubic eqn.it w giv u 0.so,x+1 is a factor of d cub eqn. divide d eqn by x+1(divn of polynomial),it gives x2-2x-2,solve dis quad. eqn.(by formula method)it will give u d answer wit u

subt. it well like dissad-1)3-(-1)2-4(-1)-2. -1-1+4-2, -1-1-2+4,-4+4=0

I've been trying to upload a picture of the solution since yesterday but to no avail.

I wonder what made it difficult for the guy.
Re: Are You Very Intelligent, Solve This Mathematics by Umartins1(m): 2:29pm On Jan 18, 2015
In addition, it is a polynomial, not a quadratic. A quadratic has the highest power of X to be 2 while a polynomial has the power of X to be greater than 2. When the highest power of X is 1 as in 2x+4, it is called a linear expression.

Baba,evry1 is not lyk u nau cheesy.....prbably d degree of d polynomial (to d power 3) makde it look hard...

success254 and umartins nice one, it has been long I did maths, probably the reason for calling it quadratic instead of polynomial, X=–1 gave 0 I misplaced it wrongly the other day. but after a long struggle I finally get the stupid math.

here is what I did;
X 3 –X 2 –4X –2=0

X 3 –X 2 –X +1=3X+3

(X–1)2(X+1)=3(X+1)

Divide both sides by (X+1)

(X–1)2=3

X–1=√3

X=1±√3

X=1–√3 or 1+√3
the manipulation no be here grin. kai I need to buy a maths textbook
