exxy:It is ok to declare financial hardship to your school on the assumption your are already a student of the school and you have previously enroled nd paid for atleast 1semester, if u sudenly find urself in financial distress after dat u can discuss with them instead of keeping quiet nd faling out of status, d school wil work out a payment plan for u, atleast in my school a friend was in financial distress nd cudnt enroll for a new semester cos she was stil owing 7k in fees for d last semestr, int'l ofice caled her nd asked why she isn't enrolled she explained she can't pay her past bill so her acount was suspended, she was adviced 2go 2bursary nd discus with a particular person, she went there d hold was lifted on compasionate grounds she registered for d new semester nd d hold was placed again, she eventualy got a GA for d new semester sometime midsemester so d GA paid her curent tuition with d old one still looming, d bursary unit structured a plan for her where dey deduct $200 from her stipends every check, also if she has some personal funds she tries 2pay. Uptil now 3semesters later she is stil owing about 4k in past bill but she is stil enroled and paying it off litle by litle. I must add dat my school is 1of d most int'l student friendly schools, they will do anythg 2help out, so mayb oda school may not b as understanding, some may jst tell u 2pay or withdraw, depends on ur school. 1 Like |

asadiaboymma: Asa, I got admission with a Gre score of 296. But it's nice to score high in Gre if u are going for Ivy leagues. High score in Gre facilitate getting funding but it's not the only criteria. Other criteria are airtight letters of recommendation and Statement of Purpose. |

Good day guys. I took my GRE and had 296 (quant:153,verbal:143), Analytical writing yet to be released, WES evaluation 3.63/4.0. Please do I need to take the TOEFL test for schools that says if your primary language is English no need for TOEFL. I am interested in Ms Mechanical Engineering does anyone has idea about any school that I can get assistantships and with good part time jobs with my profile? I had applied to Tennesse State University, South Dakota State University and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Suggestions of other schools are welcomed. Secondly how can I pay application fee from here if someone doesn't have anyone over there? Thanks in advance guys expecting replies that can be of help. |

bartino:Iwe(book).. ...salute you bro The schools you u chose are very gud mech-eng sch..Got a frnd in SDSMT riding on their full scholarship there...but I think there GRE requirement is 300+ .....there are other schools that, with this your score and result they will heartedly receive u and grant u funds. What ur real cgpa? cos some schools don't accept wes evaluated transcrpt , they have their own internal evaluators and ul be ask to send ur transcript directly. Check Georgia state uni( scholarship 90%sure) Middle Tennessee state university(automatically considered for scholarship provided u meet d requirement), university of Pennsylvania, university of maryland college park, Arizona state uni(scholarship 100% sure but its competitive), Texas A&M uni, Georgia inst of tech( Eng students are heavily funded).. Check more on Google for schools, check their requirements , check whether they need Wes evaluation also... On the TOEFL ish....I'll advice u to take it to be on a safer side even if it isn't a requirement for Nigerian student...cos u might end up enrollin into an ESL programme which u'l pay more money($2000) than the $190 of TOEFL here... Make I no lie u I envy ur WES report ...Congrats Your head is drastically Valid |

bartino:Well naso unilag engineering students dey pack 5.0 dey waka....Lol You can pay ur application fee through your Master card, or Visa card...just fill the application form and you will be directed to the page you input your card infos... Or you can mail your payment to the school...contact the school bursary office and ask dem the app fee payment mailing add.... The best, easiest and fastest way is to pay thru the credit card(master or Visa).. |

bartino:With your undergrad GPA, I suggest you rewrite GRE to get at least a score of 300 or more. Then finding funding will be so easy for you. Most assistantships are competitive and most schools require at least a score of 300 or more before you're considered. You also do not wanna go to a below par school because your evaluated GPA is enough to get you into the top schools. Rewrite GRE, get killer recommendations, top-notch SOP and you will get whatever funding you have without much ado (with prayers though). My opinion though.. |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by Nobody: 8:51am On Jan 18, 2015 |
bartino: Retake the gre. Don't apply to schools with that gre and waste that awesome gpa. I know standardized tests are pesky little bugs but hey it is what it is and they have to be done. Also considering that you're an engineer it gets more competitive for funding. The honest truth is that most people you're competing with will be getting 165+ especially in quants. You need to work hard especially in that aspect. Indians will be presenting 165+ quants scores and eye popping internships. Forged or unforged. Their method works. You need to be able to beat them at their game. Study harder and prepare for the gre. Try to get at least 160 in quantitative. Your gpa wil cover the rest. That's if you also have stellar recommendations, a killer sop and probably prior research experience. IF YOU'RE NOT GUNNING FOR FUNDING THEN YOU COULD RISK IT. BUT WHO DOESNT WANT TO BE FUNDED? 3 Likes |
