MsNas:
Exxy,

Did your uncle hook you up with someone to file papers for you in New York?
Did he seek accommodation for you in New York?
Did he get you a job there?

If the answers to those questions is No, I will reiterate this... "Your uncle is an enemy of progress". I see someone here advising you to fall out of status so you can sort out your papers? Can't you go to school while you're also looking for someone to file for you? As a matter of fact, the easiest place to find someone and network is the school environment.

This person also said you don't have a guarantee you're gonna get a job and subsequently get a company to file H1B or GC for you. True, there's no guarantee. But what's the guarantee you're gonna get someone to file for you or even get money to pay the person filing for you when you fall out of status? Think about it well o. At least, if you finish school, you've got a certificate, you've gotten something out of your stay in America and you can always go to Nigeria to get a job. You're even given preference there. Unlike falling out of status and living the hard knock life in America, working minimum wage jobs, holding out hope for a better tomorrow (which btw might not come soon) thereby wasting your productive years.

Tell the person advising you to fall out of status first and come and tell us the stories of how well things worked out. Maybe I can believe life is rosy for them then.

The thing is my uncle said i should go and stay with my aunt in newyork who is illigal, so accomdation is ok, but he didn't find a job for me, he didn't get someone to file for me.

Why didn't your uncle allow you come stay with him? What good will it do you to live in NY with an Aunt who is also illegal? She can't even help you out as per paper filing. You see what I'm saying? You Uncle couldn't even look for a way out for the aunt, not to talk of you. In the end, I will still say, "follow your mind". To each, their own.

This doesn't sound like much of a plan. Just leave your studies and go stay with another illegal, so immigration can be pursuing both of you together? grin.

See Exxy, I will go straight to the point and won't blow hot and cold. Let "falling out of status" be your last option. Not until your school tells you that you've been dropped; please keep fighting. If you can work under the table as an illegal, why can't you as an F-1 student in status too? If you can look for someone to marry as an illegal in NY, why can't you also look for someone to marry while going to school? Everything is a risk but going to school is more realistic - you can still control that. Your school give scholarships, you have an accommodation, and an on-campus job. Just fight to get the scholarship and keep going. Again, do not fall out of status unless all your options have been exhausted.

Bigfrancis has a pretty nice point. You need to read his post without bias. He never in any instance make decision for exxy, he gave all options and make him see reasons that US is not all rosy and you need to fight your way out.

When I got to US, my uncle had just finished banging her boss as I found used condoms in his car. The guy kept me at the airport for long not knowing he was bleeping his boss. Amefrica you see why I told you to do the right thing. Lol. I found out cos the Akata sent him the usual Sms of the whole sexual excitement. I had to remind him to delete before his wife finds out.

He is a citizen, he came in through visa lottery and he's been in US for 16years. People do a lot of crappy things just to keep their job as well.

I am not advising anyone to fall out of status. But guy, you don't have a friend in US. I can tell from my experience. But thank got myself planned out as I changed dollars and also had cash in my account. So far am good.

Exxy is just playing the emotional game and reverse psychology, he knew before he left Nigeria he can't survive it as regards cash.

What I found wrong in being judgemental and biased. Whatever rift or disagreement you have with Francis doesn't warrant all these unnecessary chants.

I had an international programme and a ghanian guy out of 15 Nigerians walked up to me and asked if I got accommodation.

Exxy, you have heard the gospel truths from both ends, so it's up to you to decide. Don't waste your money if you can foot the bills, channel it to a more assuring venture, but if you can work your way out then great.

Lastly, be very careful, imagine the cab guy that drove me to the airport in Chicago, told me what happened to the brother. He came in and fell out of status and was staying with him. He got a good job and was earning good cash, his Nigerian friends were jealous and they hid dope in his bag and called the police. They snitched on him. Good his brother has cash, the dude is in Australia now doing better

Its pretty easy for ladies to survive here. But guys, you go frustrate.
I would beat my chest and advice anyone coming here to Atleast have money to survive for 1semester atleast.

I can tell you the ladies as well don't wanna go home. Dem carry seat belt anywhere them go. They will all end up with one citizen who would marry them to stay in US. All those I love you Na Washee.

This is why I encourage anyone going for grad programme to write standardized test and apply for grant.

You obviously called this uncle that you need his help, maybe financially and that's the only solution he can profer. This same uncle didn't know how you got to the USA . I don't know about your family setting oo but I think you have 2 choices to make; follow your uncle instruction or continue struggling till you graduate and prove to your uncle that you can do it alone.
