They may be skinny & dirty but do you know that they are very rich,
Anytime you see them with a minimum of 20 cows the owner is a millionaire
You dont have to be a FULANI or do it the way they do it but you can use the mordem cheap technology of enclosure not free range to rear the animals.

What am saying is that you can also use agriculture to plan for financial boost this year.

There are two basic methods of animal fattening.

For the organic cheap food I will teach you a way out for a small fee. There are a lots of uncompleted buildings or vacant land around your areas look out for the owners & negotiate to use it.
The first thing to do when the animals arrived is to deworm and give antibiotics treatment, feed daily and give them enough clean water to drink. All we plan to achieve is 0.5kg daily target weight gain, if you do that for 6 months , that is in 6 months you will get = 6x30 x 0.5 = 90kg the aim is to achieve desire market weight before December, and there is a good market then. The idea is to sell it directly to different groups, societies and cooperatives around your location for end of year festivities and marriage ceremonies. It will not be difficult to sell during this period infact you cannot meet the demand. Each of your bulls will be selling for nothing less than N80,000.
For goat you can sell at any time of the year because of goat pepper soup are sold all year round & the demand is very high.

Imagine you want to roof a 3 bed room flat wit good alliminium sheet it cost N500k-650k if you are not on pressure from your land land you can choose to invest 500k into cow fattening but goat is faster so do goat fattening, you buy 500k/7k = 71 but a trailer can carry about 45 young bulls so 71 goat will stay in a trailer but there is a way it can be arrange to take 150 goats some will be up & other sets down .
Let us work with just 71 pcs u cannot spend 100k to feed them for 4 months using FODER system of feeding very economical & organic , little or no medication needed.

These are fast growing he goats , not nigeria breed

At the end of the 4th month
Goats----N500k
Transport ----N150k
Feeding------N100k
Labour------N60k (4 x15k)
Rent --------N60k (6x10k)
Medication---N20k ( you should spend less because of the fodder)
TOTAL = N890k

In 4 months time feed on my recomendation each goat should be sold at N20k
But sell at 18K each which will be 18k x71pcs = N1,278,000
The profit = N1,278,000 - N890k = N388k by the time you do another round the cost will be reduced


If you buy 10 female & one mature male to reproduce so that you dont have to keep buying from the north.

This is one of the secrete of the HAUSA men you see all over the east & west of nigeria.

I wouldnt dare invest in cattle fattening. I know a farm that lost over 50 cows in one night to theft. The Fulani cattle rearers have a way of stealing other people's cattle. So for me, cattle rearing should be left exclusively for the Fulani.

The FULANIs have stolen my cows before , do you know the reason why they steal ?
It is because they believe the cow business belongs to them & the animals are not confine with good security measures. Do you know that they make alot of cash from the biz, also monopolizing the cow biz.
They feed the cows with free grasses & on people's farm produce. They migrate to the east & west of nigeria where grasss are found green year round.
You dont have to rear yours the way they do their's.
If your place is secured & the animals are not grazing around & you have watch dogs , also with God on your side am too confident that you will smile to the bank.
The waste is good money now better than poultry waste.
Since the animals will be confine to a place they will gain waight fast & less prone to sickness.
The milk from the cow is big cash now , a company in Oyo state buy @N80 per litter to make powdered milk.
There is a foreign calf from Jos , it is sold for N145k , after raising for a year it is sold for N400k besides most farmers dont sell the cow because it produces 20 liters of milk per day & the demand for the milk is high, ussually bought by those producing yougort. Remember that the best type of yougort comes from the north, not those ones sold along major roads across the country.
You can also produce cheese(WARA in yoruba ) from the milk.
I believe so much in FODDER system of feeding animals. The is the best way to feed the golden calf

your response made me laugh, you are free to use it,if it is of help to you. i studied cattle and small ruminants production to a profectional level .i will soon be lunching my website and sharing my daily farm practices with pictures and other hiden infor this year, there are a lot of infor that are not written any where on the internet that i will share. fodder is generally name used for freshly cut grass of any spp. used as feeds for livestock .i am well equip, i will share free of charge at the right time

Ok everbody i got part of the rightup from his blog.

But what am saying is that we have tried it & it works growing FODDER indoor. Very easy, simple & cheaper than buying cuting grasses or buying feed/ hay/straw.

The big trailer will take 3 levels of goats stack up, each level will take 70 pcs of 4 months old goats making a total of 210 goats & the transport fee is N200k which mean transport for each goat = 200k/210 = N954 , if your farm is motorable then they may take it to the farm with additional small token if not you may have to arrange that yourself.

Feed is not a problem because you will not need to feed them with the grasses that grow in your area but use FODDER produce by you.

Have you evr being to local restuarant AkA mama put , see the way goat meats are served in large pieces , sold for N200 . That means you can work to as many mama puts around you , take pictures of your matured goats to them & negotiate on price and as them how many they can buy per week t, then sell but becarefull not to sell on credits at worst collect 60% payment as soon as you deliver.

Why sholud we leave the business to the uneducated people to do while we cry no job.

You can even start small with just 10 goats & see how it works.

This is not a quick money making thing but a knowledge based biz. It gives the farmer rest of mind. The place can be kept clean to give little or no offensive smell. You can start small. There are some dairy goats that gives more litters of milk per day than the FULANI cow. We have a proffessior dairy in our team.
I think this year people should do more of team biz. Those who are very good in a particular area should manage the biz while others can invest & have unlimited acess to the biz, ask questions & be inovative.
With team spirit we can learn & move faster. gain assess to loan, penetrate difficult areas, make good profit, reduce initial cost of investment etc.

This is a very lucrative biz , less stress good market , no need of plenty advert & the risk is less . You see your money grow on a daily basis as long as the animals eat & grow well. You cannot amke loss as long as you manage the animals well. If they fall sick you can easily treat them.
Please make this another sources of income this year.

I was told of a man who use goat biz to train all his children from nursary to university level.
How did he start , he went to a far village where development is still slow & bought land
He then went all round the villages around to look out for goats that give birth to 3 kits at first birth & bought some of the females goat of those 3 kits litter goats.
He did that for a year & people thought he was mad but after 18 months the story changed he became the one selling back to the villagers & close by marketers.
Any time he needs cash he will sell only the male matured goats while he keeps buying any good male from different location to prevent inbreeding.
The man kept local goats but the one am talking about here is foreign goats that have good market value & grow faster & bigger than the local goats
The sad thing is that none of the children took after him

Glory to God we just delivered some sets of animals to a client in the south west.

i asked these questions to understand your exact position and for clarity.

I got these info below & it may be usefull to the readers

Below are cows breeds that produces more litres of milk than our local cow ( Bokolo) that give 1-2 litres daily.
There are Fresian,Gurnseys Jerseys and Ashyires pure breeds cows that produces 30 litres daily
The Jersey Crossbreed produces 10 litres daily which is less milk than the pure breeds but it has a high butterfat content(5%+) and is used to make full cream milk as well as Double Cream.It is the easiest to make products like butter from.
The Sahiwal breed produces around 7 litres daily but can live in Semi-desert like conditions,tick tolerant and does not mind high temperatures.
The Sahiwal Fresian breed produces more than 10 litres daily.
This cows are not in Nigerians but can survive in Nigeria so we need to visit countries like S.A and Kenya where dairy farming has been a successful venture.

I ran into a fellow in the south eastern part of the country resently who is into goat biz,
He buys 30 matured goats weekly & added a small profit of N3k on each as a profit magin but the guy is a yoruba by tribe
So on a weekly bases he makes 30x N3k = N90k & a total of N90x4 =N360k monthly.
