Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), the Constitutional lawyer has stated that Buhari's academic qualification is equivalent to a Master's Degree.

He said this in response to Mr. Mike Ozekhome (another lawyer)'s claim that Buhari was not qualified to contest in the elections due to his failure to provide his certificate.

Saga has argued that thee's no requirement in the constitution saying he must provide his certificate, noting that Buhari attended the Military Training College in kaduna; the Mons Officer Cadet School in the United Kingdom; and the Army War College in the United States.

His words: “This whole discussion of Buhari’s qualification is a negative distraction from the legitimate process of electioneering which should involve issues, records of the candidates, their character, and their capacity to govern. These are things we should be talking about.

“The constitution is very clear on the issue of qualification. It states that you are qualified to be a President if you have achieved the level of school certificate or its equivalent. Buhari has been to Military College in Britain, he has been to colleges in India and USA, involving high level of training and intellect.

“We need to ask if participation and completion of courses at these levels and the basic officers training in Mons Officers Cadet School are less than school certificates. On the contrary, you need school certificate to attend those courses. So, if he has attended all those courses, then there is absolutely no need to be talking about secondary school certificates anymore.

“So, this man attended secondary school and we hear he was even the head boy. He has been to the Cadet School in Mons, he attended the War College in the US and was given a certificate which is equivalent to a master’s degree.

“If I may add, how has the Ph.D of the President helped this country?” he concluded.

It beats my immagination that a supposed "SAN" like Olisa Agbakoba has allowed sycophancy to override his understanding of the law and has rendered him almost permanently clueless-just like the PHD Man that calls himself the President. I have observed something about these forthcoming elections and its intrigues, both from learned and unlearned Nigerians. This particular election is sure going tribal lines.

Every political analysts, proffessionals like sagay and ozekhome are all basing their opinions on tribal lines and sentiments.

How can a learned proffessional like sagay equal any academic degree in this world to masters degree? when it is not a PH.D. I guess, even with all his qualifications, he does not even know what a masters degree is. Sentiments have so blinded him, that he has thrown decorum and proffessionalism, which deals with facts and reality to the wind. It is unfortunate, that, people can stoop this low, just to achieve an aim.

Anyway, we are all humans and can err, proffesional or not. So, Sagay would be forgiven for that, as even God forgave those who killed him considering the fact that they are fallible and imperfect humans.

MEANWHILE..............Youths including men and women numbering over 3,000 have given one week ultimatum to the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to table his certificates before the Independent National Electoral Commission or they will go to court.

They were led by the National Coordinator of Coalition of Nigerian Youth for Good Governance, Godwin Meliga and a female activist, Princess Amarachi Nlumanze.

The protesters, who carried placard with various inscriptions; ‘Nigeria is bigger than one man’, ‘Mr Integrity show your certificate’, ‘Obey the law’, urged Buhari to comply with the electoral laws.
Speaking with journalists at the rally which commenced at the Unity Fountain, Meliga threatened legal action against Buhari, if he fails to comply with the electoral laws and show his certificate.

“Buhari has been campaigning, telling everybody that he is Mr Integrity that promised to come and fight corruption, there is an allegation that he had no Secondary School Certificate, he should come out and show his certificate. He should come out and tell us whether he went to school or not,” he said.

Citing former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, who came out publicly with his NYSC certificate after he was alleged of not participating in the one year mandatory national youth service, Meliga told Buhari to do the same thing by coming out openly with evidence to dispel the allegation.

He said; “Nigerian youth are asking him to come out and present his certificate, because we don’t want an illiterate to rule us anymore.

“We are not stopping at this rally alone, INEC told us that they cannot stop Buhari, that it is only the court that can stop him. So, we are now saying that after this rally, we are giving Buhari one week to present his certificate or we will go to court, to ask an order for him to either present his certificate or be disqualified.”

Asked why the demand now? Meliga said; “This is the first time we are hearing about this. In the past, we do not know and the INEC had been silent about this, but some good Nigerians had verified from the INEC, and today we know that he had no certificate. PDP is not jittery over Buhari, we have beaten him before and we will still beat him.”

In her reaction, Nlumanze said the protest was to compel APC Candidate to do the right thing by fully complying with the electoral law.

"We want people to do the right thing, we want justice, and we cannot avoid repeating the same mistake we have been making all this while. That is why we came up here to say, show us your certificate, if you say you are Mr. Integrity.”

INEC listed WASC as Buhari's qualification. This will be the starting point of the court case against Buhari's eligibility. He will tell us the year he obtained his certificate and WAEC will be called in to verify. If it is proven that Buhari indeed never got the WASC as stated, then it means all other military qualifications are null and void since they were premised on his WASC.

The more Buhari fails to provide his certificate to the appropriate authority, the more controversy he is creating for himself.

I pit the school of law that issued person of mike certificate, may be one day inec will add in their the provison where the candidate should fill if his wife the give him that thing and mike and his colleaque will head to court to argue because inec has adede it in their form, if inec what anything let them take it to national assembly to make it law and not inec provision. mike, fayose will soon run of Nigeria before 30may, 2015

You think Civil Strike is a testament to gross incompetence? You thought wrong. Civil Strike is one of the features of democracy where freedom of protest is enshrined in our constitution. We have Strikes even in developed countries like the US or the UK. We have even witnessed incessant strikes in APC controlled states so I wonder why you want to play the incompetency card here.

There were even strikes during the semi-illiterate senile dictator's regime. The strikes were too much that he had to proscribe several organisations (like the NMA) and ban the use of strikes. Is that democracy? Certainly no.
