Don't mind him, it's Mandarin Chinese. And for your information herald9, I took a semester of Beginner's Chinese in undergrad, HMPH!! angry grin

I have discovered two free CRM/ERPs competing with Microsoft Dynamics:

SuiteCRM

and

Dolibarr

I'm evaluating them both. Both have mobile capabilities, but only SuiteCRM has BlackBerry compatibility, so I'm leaning towards that one. Also it's prettier. cheesy

That's the software I was talking about. OpenERP is available to be downloaded and installed on a personal server, but I don't like it.

I want a system that does not depend on internet connection.

Do you use or know people who use the cloud OpenERP? What's your/their experience with it?

That's the problem with openERP. But with the whole rebranding they've gone through, I don't know if it's still so.

They have a partner in Nigeria. Mattobell Ltd. You can contact them for further questions.

Or you ask BornSad. I'm sure he knows a lot about the right ERP for such businesses.

In Lagos, Oracle, SAP and Microsoft are taking the lead. While SAP has taken over the aviation companies and along with Oracle leading the oil companies, Microsoft has completely covered production companies especially food production companies. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is doing just great and Microsoft Dynamics AX is not doing bad. The later is mostly used by larger organisations. However, most firms have dropped Microsoft Dynamics SL and GP. Microsoft CRM is another product that well accepted here.

Oga. All these are for large businesses. I'm sure she's talking of a start-up or medium-size business here.

You want make Microsoft finish the capital ni? grin

Microsoft has ERP's for virtually every size of business. I believe the reason she's asking for the popular ones is be assured of support.

As for cloud OpenERP, it's not so popular here because a lot of people are still very skeptical about cloud computing (security wise) and it's still a debate as regards which saves more between cloud and on-premises. Again, it requires more technical know-how.

Blegh. I don't like it. It's called Odoo now. It has a downloadable version that you can install on your own server, but there's just something about it...

On the plus side, it has a ton of REALLY useful modules, especially for recruitment and expenses.

I'm still debating using it for some functions.

Hehehe abi ooo

I took a peek and I was like EHHH. You know I hate paying for software, as a matter of principal. Unrepentant pirate lol (speaking of, I have said the words "I miss PirateBay" like 100 times in the past 2 months. sad )

Microsoft has one partner ERP, specifically for palm plantation management, called HarvestIT. The #$@&!s want me to call India for a quote. *more swearing*

I want it so bad. I'll just have to hack together a suite of applications by myself.

I don't want any cloud software because I don't want my productivity to be reliant on Internet speed. Just something on the company network that everyone can access.

I just (re)discovered NCH software. I've definitely seen it in the past, and I think I want to try it out. It's freeeeee lol

No mobile capabilities though sad

I'm also holding my nose and evaluating Odoo one more time. They released a new version recently.

I have to help a client modernize and automate their business it involves a wide range of services includes putting in place an ERP system.
I would have loved to confine myself to the network infrastructure ,network services and ESS systems plus integration but the client wants the ERP to tie in to the IT infrastructure/systems as it should be.
My experience with ERP systems/build -near zero.
Could I have your number/contact information?
I could use some help.

It depends on the type of ERP (which is determined by the size of the organisation, the nature of the business and the budget). My organisation only do Microsoft ERP's and mmostly for big organisations.

You can send me a PM, anyway.
