Fayose has bitten more than he could chew.But I feel if we have to be fair,What happened was a true definition of unprofessional Journalism on the part of The Punch and the Sun news.Sometimes Freedom of information should have a limit just like the Pope said when France was attacked after Charlie Hebdo,a French magazine published several cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammed.I want to believe Fayose also intended to use more than two national dailies for this advert,but the others rejected him.So I believe The Sun and The Punch lacked the editorial judgement to see that the advert lacked sanity and the editors of the two news organizations were psychologically blind to have forseen the after effects of this.

A resounding precedence from many societies including our ancestors, Is If you carried out in humane acts, caused many family death, pain and was a pariah to the community while alive, you would be ostracized from the greater society even in death. This is also a way to deter such heinous acts from future copy cats. It's good to respect the dead but just as good to respect LIFE

Murtala Mohammed had an Islamic agenda, that's what Buhari took forward to apply for OIC membership. IBB completed it. Murtala destroyed the excellent civil service we inherited at Independence. Sacked Oxon, Cantab and London trained civil servants massively under guise of fighting corruption. Civil service collapsed from there. A heroic coup plotter? Such doesn't exist.
Just because OBJ was very generous to Murtala posthumously doesn't make him a hero.

Yar'adua was handpicked by OBJ, was ill throughout his regime. His only achievement was appeasing oil militants (using GEJ) to keep oil money flowing, he had no choice anyway.

Abacha looted recklessly. A tyrant.

Fayose maybe a thug, but he's not subservient like his people to Northerners.

Follow your advice. Don't derail, Stay on topic. Please read the title of this thread, (Sani Abacha's daughter Gusmu slams Fayose over controversial ad.). Then read my first comment., advising Ms Abacha not to expect respect for Sani Abacha even in death. For me wether Fayose was right or wrong is red herring. Perhaps credit will be given for commenting on the right topic.
As a society we did not descend to Abach's level. We didn't feed his corpse to the dogs as you earlier suggested . While Abacha brought pain, grief and silenced many people and their family members . Abacha's family members are still free to move about and living well. A thriving society should have standards. Abacha deserved to be ostracized from a people who value the sanctity of life. The Coroner pronouncing someone dead does not automatically bestow respect on that person if that person was a degenerate while alive.
