taiwoliu:there diff mutual funds. some pay annual dividend ,bi annual u can also gain thru increase in unit price of ur investment. for a money market mutual fund. ur gain is d accumulation of daily interests. u have two options every 3 months. collet ur interest or add back to ur initial investment. eg lets say i invested 1m. in 3 months it has earned 28k. i can collet d 28k or add it back to my 1m. meaning my initial investment is now 1028000, from den on. ur daily interest is now being computed wit 1028,000 nd nt 1m 1 Like 3 Shares |

Great thread lads, lets keep it going. FBN MMF and Stanbic MMF are some of the better mutual funds in the market. My opinion is that though Stanbic may have a larger base, wider reach and ?better managers, their fees are not a bowl of ice-cream. Nevertheless, you can't go wrong with either of them. Does anybody know of any other good funds or fund managers? (Please don't mention ARM). Even as the market is tanking, the yield of some of these funds will definitely drop. I've been trying to find any information about ETFs(particularly Vetiva and Stanbic). I hear ETFs have some advantages over ordinary mutual funds. 2 Likes 1 Share |

igboboy3: I don't know much about StanbicIBTC but i do like the categorisation of their products. I will definitely check them out in future. The yields are all similar though... still in the 11-12% range and the fees don't matter since the yields advertised are net of fees. FBN MMF entry level is quite low compared to theirs (5k initial and 5k subsequently vs 50k initial and subsequent investment of 50k) and they are both rated by the same rating agency (Agusto) as Aa(f) http://www.agusto.com/rating-category.php?id=10 . I am inclined to agree StanbicIBTC might have better managers since the core business is investment. However, I believe the yields are not a reflection of that thinking...maybe they use their better managers on the other funds and not MMF. A lot of people are not being fair to ARM sha...just saying. InvestOne seems to offer the best rates I have seen so far... on ETFs, I have no idea..trying to remember the full meaning sef 2 Likes |

since i left secondary school. I always come to this forum to search for new ideas owing to the fact that no man is an island of its own but i must confess that i have really found nothing that has beaten the way i have been using over the years. It just dawned on me to let this idea out to my fellow Nigerians so that we can all benefit from it and i also have this dream of making Nigeria a better place and i have to start from somewhere in writing my name on the sands of time.I realize that some people are poor whilw\e few people are rich in Nigeria and this is because some people in this country do not have enough information on how to make money with little capital while few people are always looking for adequate information on how to get rich in Nigeria, some people in this country dont belive that they can be rich through online investment but i am introducing you to this great financial opportunity that can make you be rich in short period of time. This is an investment that pays returns just after 20 days. You will get double of your funds after investing with them.I wouldn't want to be telling stories so if you need more information on this.simply check on S o n y o n l i n e i n v e s t . c o m |

So, I started the Stanbic IBTC MMF today. It was quite an easy process; just your documents and funds transfer receipt. The bank staff were quite courteous. Within 24hrs, I had received an email alert giving me details of my online access password. I logged on to their portal and my 100k don add 31naira on top Let's see how the whole thing goes 4 Likes |

Re: Mutual Funds by WeirdHero(m): 9:00am On Jan 22, 2015 |
ernie4life:Please @ ernie4life, going with the current oil downfall which is already having a toll on other sectors of the economy, will this affect investments in KGIF. How secure will people's investments be during these downfall?? What are the prospects Kindly throw light on this issue? |
Re: Mutual Funds by ernie4life(m): 12:23pm On Jan 22, 2015 |
WeirdHero: KGIF is a balanced mutual fund, major part of the fund is put into fixed income market that's why the fund managers can guarantee you a fixed interest on your investment, while the other part of the fund is invested in equities that is why there is a clause of you making an extra 35% or so depending on how well the funds performs. With that if equities are not performing well fixed income will always perform well. Now with the current fall in oil prices which seems to be affecting the whole economy won't have much effect on KGIF, because majority of KGIF funds are invested in bonds and some other times its loaned out to banks that's why the interest rate on kgif is pegged to MPR, this means the could give this funds to banks to do business and pay interest or they could buy FG bonds at an interest of 13%. With this kind of investment the fund is always safe and there will always be steady return. Now the second reason why I think KGIF will still remain stable it's in its administration, now check out the parties involved in the business First trustees (first bank holding) Stanbic ibtc Investment one All these financial institutions have a good track record, with them involved I believe your cash is always safe. How about the regulation of Kgif? Kgif is regulated by SEC thats why you can always check for periodic updates of the funds in SEC website, that's to show the fund is highly regulated.
