EVarn: Not knowing that the bantus reached the highest level of development of all black africans prior to colonization Not knowing that of all the african peoples, the bantus were the only ones to provide any real resistance to colonization Brah, there is a reason that even the racist apartheid regeim maintained a full battalion comprised of zulus and the racist rhodesian army was 40% matabele 1 Like |

Patchesagain:only the bantu resisted colonization?,what of the ethiopians?.you are a liar mr patrick.the bantus didnt offer much resistance against the british, they werent sophisticated enough to innovate powerful weapons to combat western invasion.unlike the ethiopians, who right from the time of emperor hel salessei who was the last ruler of axum empire{which comprised of ethiopia, somalia, kenya and lower egypt},have always repelled foreign invasion from their land.the ethiopians were the most developed and civilized african tribe. 3 Likes |

EVarn: Ethiopian isn't a tribe. I am Somali, and Ethiopia is made of many ethnic groups the majority being Cushitic/Semetic speakers who are Somali, Afar, Tigrey, Amahara, Oromo and those people have a common ancestor and controlled the Horn of Africa to Southern Egypt at certain times in history and including parts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen. 2 Likes |

axum:indeed,i know that ethiopia isnt a singular tribe, just like nigeria isnt a monotribal nation.i was just using the word 'tribe' to unify the ethiopians in my arguement.the word 'nation' would have sounded too foreign and modern. 3 Likes |

agaugust: They were trained by the SADF. There's nothing special about them. The 32 battalion was used to save white South Africans from dying. They were absorbed into regular units. It is a battalion like any other deployed SA battalion wasn't a really a battalion but a battalion group. Training was from the SADF. A month ago you were saying ANC freedom fighters were hitting the SADF really hard. Soldiers retire and leave the army for various reasons, that doesn't affect standards. Majority of the SANDF officers fought in the bush war. 2 Likes |

EVarn: You could have said indigenous people of the Horn of Africa, because many people from those ethnic groups are in all the countries of the horn (Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti). We are also the best looking people, in addition to having a great glorious history. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by axum: 1:40pm On Jan 22, 2015 |
Patchesagain: People in Ethiopia aren't Bantu, they are Cushitic in ancestry just like in Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia. The languages spoken by those countries are in the Semetic/Cushitic family which is part of Afroasiatic language family. |

agaugust: Radar isn't used to guide the glide bomb, when launched from the Hawk. Target information can be loaded into the bomb prior to launch, including attack angle and direction. Target information can include pictures, the IR seeker version has an ATR(automatic target recognition) capability also known as "scene matching". When the glide bomb is near the target it will compare its real time images with loaded pictures. And send a picture of the scene just before impact. During the glide phase it is manoeuvrable, and can change direction. It doesn't just glide in a straight line to the target. It can bypass the air defence umbrella. It can drop at a angle of 90 degrees from high altitude. |

axum:countries like somalia, eritea, and djibouti broke away from the once vast ethiopian empire, they can be considered 'rogue' nations.while you people may nurture an heroic history, the region of the horn of africa is very unstable, the region has hardly known peace since the italian resistance.the people of the region may even be tagged as violent, wasteful and destructive.as for looking good, yes,i daresay, ethiopians and kenyans look very attractive indeed, the fact that they gain tourist attention and libido confirms the point. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by axum: 2:26pm On Jan 22, 2015 |
EVarn: 1. Kenyans are not good looking, maybe you saw Somalis/ethiopians who are in Kenya 2. Horn of Africa is relatively stable now, and Ethiopia has always been stable 3. Somalia has settled down and now we choose our own leaders, instead of western puppets 4. Lasting peace will return back to the Horn, and just like in the past we are gonna come back up 5. The regions that broke off from Ethiopia (Axum, Abyssinia) was for good reason, as Somalis accepted Islam 1400 years ago. I fact when the Arabs sought and asked the Ethiopian King for refuge he let them settle in what is now Northern Somalia, and those people who did not see themselves as being separate from Ethiopia started to get an identity after becoming Muslim, thus creating what is now Modern Somalia, which was in the past other Islamic Sultanates and Empires. Eritrea broke off in 1993 and Djibouti became independent in 1970's. Our region has a great history and culture, and we are a beautiful people in a beautiful land with much resources. Our main challenge will be Bantus, as we do not see ourselves as Africa nor Black. |

axum:you do not consider yourselves black because you are from somalia,a kenyan or ugandan would consider himself black.i wouldnt consider kenyans ugly, they are beautiful, peaceful, and do not practice religious fanatism, unlike their radicalized neighbours.somalia is a failed state, plagued by a violent spate of islamic terrorism that has eaten deep into the region, even NATO cant withstand it.the radical jihadist cult,al shabaab, now exports islamic terror into the peaceful neighbouring kenya.i understand that the emperor of axum, out of the goodness of his heart, made the misguided decision of permitting the arab muslims to reside in the northern somali plains, this region later ceded from axum, due to their muslim identity,to form somalia, which is now a failed state.nigeria also made the same mistake by allowing uthman dan fodio to radicalize our northern region.a failed warthorn state like somalia has a very low chance of ever recovering in the next two centuries. |

MikeCZAR: Why has Chad never fought Nigeria in asymmetric war since 1980s when we beat them 3 times? Nigeria has millions of northern desert people that can raise peoples 100,000 man insurgency force to infiltrate Chad and mix with civilians undetected because we trade with them in Hausa and Fulfulde languages, nobody has monopoly of raising up insurgency. Chad's operations in Mali and C.A.R were all conventional wars, guerrilla warfare is NOT the strength of Chad, they have a national army with uniforms and obey UN laws of war. What kind of a South African white man are you? You think like a retaarded Bantu ! |

agaugust:It is part of the GBADS. It is guided by Thales page radar. The Thutlwa radar can detect aircraft up to 120km. It is used to guide the Oerlikon guns While SAAF mobile radars can pick up planes up to 500km. As part of the GBADS SANDF will receive 2 more new radars. RSR 320 and Skyshield sensor. Air power they stand no match. |
