The implication is that import will reduce while encouraging local production. However Nigeria has nothing in place for local production at the moment because we import most of our finished products from foreign countries and the employment rate is quite high. I would say that it will encourage local production if materials are made available by the governement at subsidized rate to producer and we have constant power supply. It's surely gonna be well for Nigerian. meanwhile we need change in order to channel or resource into meaningful development and not some selfish crooks pockets. 1 Like 1 Share |

klem93: Amen. We don enter one chance for Naija. NOI is a failure and nothing affects her salary. I strongly believe we have been enchanted. 98% of Nigerians are fools to allow less than 1% of the population to run our country aground just like Shagari's regime. Nigeria open your eyes, corruption is killing us. 1 Like |

Nigerians prefer foreign made clothes to locally made ones of same quality, Nigerians prefer foreign made shoes to locally made ones of same quality, Nigerians prefer foreign made cars to locally made ones, Nigerians prefer foreign made furnitures to locally made ones of same quality, Nigerians prefer foreign made drugs to locally made ones of same quality, Nigerians prefer foreign made vegetable oil and butter,to locally made ones of same quality, Nigerians prefer foreign grown rice and flour,to locally made ones of same quality, Nigerians prefer foreign made bedsheet, plates and cooking utensils,to locally made ones of same quality... Nigerians prefer anything that is foreign made,to the ones that are locally made and when govt tries to place a ban on these items, they kick against it. Yet they keep blaming govt for the weak currency. How do you guys want to have a strong currency, when you spend nearly all your forex in funding importation? Everybody wants to go into the business of importing cos it's easier to make quick and big gains this way. At the end of the day,we end up blowing away our forex and this in turn affects the reserves as we would need to keep using our reserves to defend the naira. What type of magic are we expecting? How many of you would boldly buy a Nigerian made shirt, when there's a gucci in the same store? Until we learn to support indigeneous companies and stop all these unnecessary importation,we'd keep having a weak currency. Look at the auto industry. It's gotten so bad that almost everybody is now an importer or a car dealer. People just buy all manner of junks and ship into naija. Yahoo boys with stolen funds can buy a car and ship into naija with a landing cost of 5m and sell same car for 3m. That automatically runs down business for a genuine importer who worked hard for his money or took loan to invest in the business. Until we decide to be patriotic enough to support and develop our home grown businesses,we wouldn't go anywhere. All these years,we've been actively developing economies of other nations,to the detriment of our own. 18 Likes 7 Shares |

The good news is that Nigerians will begin to cut their coat according to their size. No more lavish and foolish spending. People will begin to buy what they need and not what they want. So many frivolous things like human hair, phones, and gadgets, ridiculously expensive houses, clothes etc will become excess wiv little demand. Politician and business men who sleep and keep 5 gfs, some that sleep wiv one for each day would start keeping one or two. Greedy people will get more greedy and dangerous but they will only have their way wiv greedy people like them. Ritualist will find only greedy people. Women will begin to go back to the old days of managing with boys because sugar daddies do not have excess money to spend on several women. Hopefully there would be abundance of food. Any other things shall crash!. This shall be the era of the righteous. Or things will become tougher and unbearable which might lead to a revolution. 2 Likes |
