I must commend Prof.Charles Soludo for such an exceptional epistle,i beg to differ in his submission on his overall assessment of the regime of Pres.GEJ,significant milestones were recorded in areas of agriculture, power and road construction and to say that the economic team is weak is quite degrading....The present economic team is and will remain the greatest convergence of great minds and achievers in various fields of endeavour. What the professor did not tell us; 1) It was in the same regime he served that over 2 trillion Naira was spent on power without any considerable improvement 2) The Benin-Ore road was for close to a decade the worst nightmare for travellers 3) Millions of dollars were spent on TAM(Turn Around Maintenance) of Refineries without any justification for a satisfactory work done 4) Elections were manipulated and massive electoral fraud committed to favour the anointed candidate of the then president. 5) Huge funds were disbursed for the third term agenda which was truncated by our distinguished parliamentarians The List is Endless.... $150m halliburton scandal,Privatization Scandal,National I.D Card Scam,Oil revenue diversion by the then minister of pertoleum and incumbent president(Now APC Saint)..you can add yours 16 Likes 4 Shares |

He obviously forgot to tell Nigerians what Iroko trees his cerebral self and Obasanjo planted while they were in office. Since he critised Anambra's Peter Obi's fat savings account, is it not ironic that all he had to brag about was fat "domicilliary" (una know say i no know book) accounts or whatever. It is a pity there is no Yaradua to tell Soludo to run for office again. 10 Likes |

Jonthan government is the worst in our history on the economy. - Charles Soludo We were reminded of Jonathan’s agricultural ‘revolution’. But someone cut in and noted that for all the propaganda, the growth rate of the agricultural sector in the last five years still remains far below the performance under Obasanjo. One of us reminded him that no other president had presided over the slaughter of about 15,000 people by insurgents in a peacetime; no other president earned up to 50% of the amount of resources the current government earned from oil and yet with very little outcomes; no other president had the rate of borrowing; none had significant forex earnings and yet did not add one penny to foreign reserves but losing international reserves at a time of boom; no other president had a depreciating exchange rate at a time of export boom; at no time in Nigeria’s history has poverty reached 71% (even under Abacha, it was 67 -70%); and under no other president did unemployment reach 24%. Surely, these are unprecedented records and he surely ‘outperformed’ his predecessors! What a satire! My advice to President Jonathan and his handlers is to stop wasting their time trying to campaign on his job record. Despite presiding over the biggest oil boom in our history, it has not added one percentage point to the growth rate of GDP compared to the Obasanjo regime especially the 2003- 07 period. Obasanjo met GDP growth rate at 2% but averaged 7% within 2003- 07. The current government has been stuck at 6% despite an unprecedented oil boom. Income (GDP) growth has actually performed worse, and poverty escalated. This is the only government in our history where rapidly increasing government expenditure was associated with increasing poverty. The director general of NBS stated in his written press conference address in 2011 that about 112 million Nigerians were living in poverty. Is this the record to defend? |

Its time to become wiser in this country. The simple reason why he wrote those things is just because Peter Obi's anointed was favoured by the presidency to succeed Peter. 5 Likes |

youngalex:Obviously the amount of money stolen in the last 5 years of Jonathan's reign is more than the cumulative amounts of money lost by Nigeria to corruption from 1979 till 2010. Remember, in the last 5 years of Jonathan, Nigeria has experienced unprecedented oil boom and continuous budget surpluses. Yet the only effect is that Nigeria became the only country in the world where there are more private jets (over 150) than commercial passenger planes (less than 60 altogether). Not a single kobo added to our foreign reserves, instead we get massive dwindling of the reserves and astronomically rising national debts; all these at a time when the nation enjoys unprecedented oil boom. These facts are clear for all to see yet whenever any concerned person raises the issue, he is foolishly labelled 'opposition.' It is really disgusting that with all the facts flying around, some individuals still try to preach that GEJ is a good president. Please an advice to you irredeemable Jonathanians is for you guys to stick with your campaigns of calumny against Buhari by calling him names like islamist or illiterate or and old man. Just like Soludo said, there is no point trying to advertise achievements of Jonathan in your campaign because those so called achievements are all false. 3 Likes |

Nigerians do not need much macroeconomic and statistics to prove a point. I did not see the following during OBJs time even though they call him slowpoke and clueless 1. Train 2. New Fed Universities 3. Benin-Ore road These are the few I have noticed!!! 10 Likes |

youngalex: I dont blame you! you must have a Phd in zoology. What does CBN have to do with all you have said. We need to be honest with ourselves. During Soludo's time the middle class in Nigeria began to grow again. His economic policies did wonders to the nigerian economy as well as to the private sector. So stop talking like a zoology Phd holder! |

rebranded:lols seems ur in Angry Peoples Congress..let me enlighten you...it was in Soludo's regime as CBN gov.that bank MDs' were awarding dubious non-collateral loans to themselves and their cronies that led to the loss of more that 10 billion naira of shareholders money as the affected banks had to merge,be outrightly acquired or recapitalize...most of my friends that had shares in intercontinental bank lost huge sums of money...So if i were to access his regime i wont give him a pass mark either 3 Likes |

youngalex: Amaechi is a criminal, nobody is disputing that. Where i have a problem however is when a president begins to divert attention from his profligacy and put the blame on a state governor. During the days of OBj, the governors pressured him to share the money but he refused. Same happened for Yaradua and he refused bluntly to squander the reserves. Fast forward to 2010 after the death of Yaradua, GEJ quickly blows the vault open to appease the voracious governors in exchange for their support in his 2011 ambition. Fastforward again to 2015, Jonathan and his crew now want to put the blame of their indiscretion on Amaechi. What nonsense! Is there ever any gaffe that the Jonathanians dont blame on others apart from themselves? I give up! 1 Like |

What Prof. Soludo did not tell Nigerians was not relevant, but what he did tell Nigerians, is relevant at this point in time, and that is all that matters. |

youngalex: I agree that obasanjo is currupt, what soludo was trying to say is that Jonathan is the worst(Most corrupt). Naira is now 210 because we dont have reserve to defend it due to corruption. Give this man another 4 years and i am sure nigeria would be sold to a foreign country for selfish interest. People perform well in their first term, I wonder how the second term will be like if the first term was like this |

Obi has laid foundations for a new Anambra – Soludo Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has described Governor Peter Obi as a man of destiny whose disciplined and God-fearing life has insured his success in life. He said this on Tuesday during the memorial thanksgiving mass at St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Isuofia, in honour of Soludo’s mother-in-law and commended the governor for his numerous achievements, noting that he had laid strong foundations for sustainable development, which, he said, future administrations could consolidate. Soludo disagreed with the governor’s plan to retire from active politics, saying that the country needed people like him, especially during these trying times. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/item/17436-obi-has-laid-foundations-for-a-new-anambra-%E2%80%93-soludo |

youngalex: Now thats better to count on soludo, not listing things that the PDP President in power was responsible for. For your information, Sanusi's radical ways made people lose money not Soludo. Please stop misleading people with issues that DO NOT have anything to do with the CBN. Kindly amend your initial post! |

rebranded:My brother u have to be well informed before you comment,it was the rot in the banking sector during Soludo's regime that let to the investigation of the acccounts of banks as directed by Mallam Sanusi the then CBN Gov.,the fallout of that rot led to the loss of shareholders money as most banks were on the verge of collapse. Secondly,Soludo did an assesment of the regime he served and this present regime,it will be unfair to say the least that there is no singnifanct achievement recorded in this regime |

saintopus: Abi oh! Even if we assume that the letter-writing Agbaya of Owu started we still have to commend Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Arch. Namadi Sambo for not CANCELLING the projects like the daft & dumb old soldier did to many infrastructure projects including Lagos metro line, which he even had to pay breach of contract penalty for The Jonathan/Sambo team not only CONTINUED these projects they also assured these projects were adequately FUNDED till completion. That is what those who understand that government is about CONTINUITY as opposed to the old pensioner who ABANDONED secondary school to join the army and is still stuck in the cancellation and abandonment mode My people make we open our eyes wella and vote wisely oh! 1 Like 1 Share |
