Good day everyone I have some questions. Need people who know about the undergraduate process well.

I applied to some schools in the U.S. for undergraduate nursing. And I have been accepted.(thank God). this is what my situation is:

1) I'm still in secondary school ss3. I used my WAEC GCE result to apply and was accepted

2) I will graduate secondary school this July and and that is when I will receive my testimonial.

Now my question is this:

If I go to the embassy, would they know that I have finished secondary school( by then I would have my transcript for ss1-ss3 ready but WAEC result may not be out) and if they know would that be a hindrance to the visa?
Do the embassy people accept only the MAY/June waec result and not the NOV/DEC own?
If I tell them dat I'm graduating by July, would dey tell me to wait till then before I apply for visa?
And the issue of the testimonial, is it needed or only waec result and transcript is needed.

I know it's a lot of questions , but thanks to anyone to gives a reply . I appreciate.

It's basically tougher for international students to get into Harvard not just because of citizenship, but because a US citizen or someone who studied in the US typically has a better profile; based on research experience, letters of recommendation, connections to alumni etc. Those all play a huge role in admitting and funding prospective students, apart from just test scores.
That's not the criteria. My relative did not have his first degree in the US before heading to MIT and Harvard.

Don't be discouraged and always focus on your dreams. If my relative had listened to his own brother, perhaps, he wouldn't have made it to both schools. Today, people respect him a lot. @bigyansh, I am only worried about the test scores. Achieving that GRE test would be really hard for you and you probably do not have leadership skills and qualities. How many international articles have you written in the last 5 years? Where were these articles published? wink

What do you know? undecided And stop bumping into someone's opinion harshly like you just did. I'll give you the grace this time.

Harvard considers citizenship as part of admission and no U.S. graduate schools that don't do that. And if the course is competitive in the U.S., admission is 6:3:1 between American, resident and international in most cases.

Let's not drag this and always be nice when responding to me.

If schools don't put sex, citizenship into consideration; why do they ask for it in applications?

Every institution takes into account gender, sex, race, citizenship n co. into consideration when admitting or employing... They have yearly quotas to fill

Though this is coming late, my advise is NEVER answer the uncle's call anymore. Either he has tangible thing to say or not.

You see how crazy it is here in NY the last time you were here. I'm married, working and studying here, I know how ridiculous, over hyped and extremely competitive this NY is. In short, we're considering moving to neighboring states after we settled our case.

Moreover, $1500 is nothing that will cause you to fall out of status and work as a security ($8-$9 per hour tax included) in NY for many years before you can straighten your papers. Since the uncle is not staying here, don't forget that rent here starts from $700-800/mo for a secured shared room, unless you want an unsecured cell for $500/mo. One bedroom apartment starts from $1000/mo depending on location. Unlimited metro card is $30 for 6 days (they are going to increase it soon). And parking violation ticket (normal for someone who drives) starts from $45/offence. Then number of immigrants in the NY na baba! .... it goes on and on about NY.

I don't know if you've ever heard this saying in songs "if you can make it here (NY) you can make it anywhere" Check Alicia Keys or Wyclef Jean song. It means if you can survive the very competitive NY, then other parts of the U.S. na jokes for struggling.

Just take this as your trial time, it will soon pass. Sorry we couldn't meet in Dec when you were in NY. PM me, I will give you my number to talk more with you.

Maybe I could help. What part exactly are you finding tough?
How long have you been prepping?
What resources have you been using?
Try to devote sometime, maybe three months and your score would improve with tenacious and focused prep.
Oh bro I would really appreciate the help. I downloaded Grubber, barron and one other which I can't remember now. Actually I just started reading few days ago and I'm fed up already. I'm planning on writing it latest April so I think I still have enough time to prepare.

Barron is okay for strategies but the question bank is pretty meager. Even though the right resources would aid you in reaching your desired score, your eventual score is likely hinged upon your serious study, your aptitude and luck occasionally.

My recommendation for you:
1. Quant: ETS Official guide, ETS Quant 150 questions, Manhattan strategies, Manhattan 5lb, Nova.

2. Verbal:ETS Official guide, ETS verbal questions, Manhattan, Magoosh and prepcrunch vocab e books. Then you should read a lot of writings from New York Times, Scientific American, The Economist.

3. Analytical Writing: Kaplan and Barron should be fine.

Go to this link and join other test takers preparing, https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre/10#29998822
There is a Facebook group introduced to many of us by Almighty Horayce, ask the group members to invite you because it is a closed group. That group is very good! Would save you a lot of stress if you use it well. You will also be able to download lot of materials free there.
Lastly, watch magoosh videos if you can(you will find it free on dropbox.com or torrent) and take practice tests.

Good luck!

First of all, I know a ton. I have visited Harvard and there are a ton of Nigerians there. I agree that the admission rates between international students and US citizens are wonky, but it has nothing to do with citizenship. If you meet the requirements and they like you they will admit you. Simple. By the way, the number of U.S citizens who apply are more than the number of international students who apply combined. I didn't just "bump" into your opinion because the person you responded to earlier was addressing me also. I was never rude to you. That is your perspective and I don't have to agree with it. smiley

I know it's a lot of questions , but thanks to anyone to gives a reply . I appreciate.

Embassy accepts both May/June and Nov/Dec

They will know because you will surely fill it in your DS160

Sometimes documents are needed and at times they are not needed..
