I 'm only being generous..... Jonathan and his supporters listed this as one of his achievement with that figure. Let's go by them and still analyse their failure.
Yaradua promise 5000MW by december 2009 and 11,000MW BY 2011. It clearly showcase Jonathan didn't go the way Yar'adua was taking the country.

I wanted to read this thread without responding but when I saw your MOORONIC statement I had to type this.

I will need to Educate your imbecilic brain.

Now, since your dad, brother, uncle or guardian (because I know you are a bloody dependant fo0l) bought a Generator have they both another one within 3years? I know the answer is NO!

Yet they send you every single evening to the filling station to go and buy fuel or diesel to power the Generating set.

Now who are the major importers of Oil in Nigeria? Otedola, Adenuga, ABC Ojiakwo, Ifeanyi Uba (Chief Financier of TAN) and the rest.

Now tell me from the names above, who is their Major ally? The answer is Jonathan.

These are the people who keep bribing the government why there should NEVER be stable power so that they can remain in business.

Don't let Religious or Ethnic sentiments blind you and ruin your future.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's get one thing clear: there is no "systematic failure" or "collapse". The drop in generated power is basically as a result of gas supply issues caused by vandals. That said, it is imperative that the FG, through the NPF and NSCDC, gets it act together and checkmate the activities of these vandals.

And we are going to 40,000MW.... That mean we now operate on 5% of what we need. How is it possible for someone who was only generated 3,000 in 5 years-plus to reach the level of 4,000 in four years after spending 20 billion dollars on it?
Some gullible nigerians who only experience four hours of electricity a month will come out and shout "GEJ till 2019" while Aso rock has budget for powered generators.

You do know that the drop to less than 3,000 MW just a RECENT issue, right? And if I may ask, how much power did GMB generate during his tenure as HoS? You can equally list the power stations he built and commissioned.

We have NEVER EVER exceeded 1,500MW prior to GEJ. For heaven's sake some legacy power stations were totally offline, while Marubeni Japan were battling to sustain just TWO (2) turbines (out of a total of 6) at Egbin Thermal Power Station. Years into GEJ'S administration, our target had changed to 10,000MW as we had exceeded the 4,500MW mark. That's before it was later revised to about 7,000MW or so. So please get your "facts" straight.

So please who "wise" one, do tell us where GEJ is taking us Nigerians. While you're at it, did the late Yaradua (God bless his soul) achieve the 5,000MW mark in the first place?

If anything, this administration has clearly proven it's commitment to improving the state of power supply in Nigeria, hence its massive investment in the sector. Yes there will be setbacks, but then show me any project or programme (private or public) that hasn't experienced such. Still, with all the problems faced, it still generates more power than previous administrations.

Delta state has what it takes to set up power plants for its citizens. Construction of some of the power plants has already started, I don't hold brief for any govt, but the deregulation policy has made it possible for a state govt to cater for the electricity need of its people without waiting for Abuja.

We should latch on the deregulation policy and ask our state governments to do more, we have all been clamouring for fiscal federalism, with more powers devolved to the states, more power has been devolved to the states on electricity generation, transmission and distribution, they should use the newly devolved power and generate electricity for their people.

While looking up power projects in delta state I came across this

http://urhobotoday.com/?p=3072
N27b Independent Power Project: Another Abandon Project in the Making in Delta State. March 27, 2013

By Efemena Otite,
Call it a big rip-off on the people of Delta State and you are dead right. The Delta State government under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, based on the advice of one Mr. Gary Akpobire, who the government engaged in 2007 to fashion out economic blueprint for Uduaghan, introduced the idea of establishing a state-owned Independent Power Plant to propel the expected industrialization process of the state.
Not a bad idea, but since 2007 when the government decided to go ahead with the execution of the project, over N27 billion has been injected into it but as at the time of filing this report the proposed site of the project located somewhere in Ogharefe, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area could not be accessed because the place is marshy and the government has not been able to construct an access road to the site.
But the most intriguing part of the story of the six years old IPP project which, at conception ought to have been completed within 30 months, is the realization recently that the major contractor to the project is the governor himself in partnership with the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei both of whom are operating with the company name, DaveNotch Nig. Ltd.
It was also gathered that the main consultant to the IPP project is the current Secretary to the State government, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay whom, it was gathered, has engaged one Professor of Electrical Engineering from the Anambra State University, Awka who is representing the SSG.
Six years after the commencement of disbursement of state fund for the project, there appears to be a straight-jacket story cooked up by the governor and handed over to the Commissioner for power and energy, one Mr. Charles Emetulu.
And the story is that the contract for the manufacture of the turbines for the project has been awarded to a UK-based Engineering firm, Rolls Royce Company and that since it is not ‘panadol’ that one can pick up from the shelf, it takes time to design and build the equipment. Of recent, the story was updated, and the Commissioner has said that the two turbines have arrived at the Onne Port in Port Harcourt for more than a year now and that the problem is how to transport them to the project site in Oghara due to the bad state of the East-West road. So, Onne Port, the turbines seem to be stagnated until the East West road project is completed or, in the alternative tow the equipment with barges to Oghara town
through water.
The government keeps insisting there is progress in the project even as it
concedes there is no access road to the project site. Recently, the Good Governance Tour team led by the Minister for Information visited the state and was taken to the same Oghara in Ethiope West where he was conducted round the Delta State University Teaching Hospital and the Nigerian Navy Logistics Headquarters – all built by the former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori but the state government officials tacitly did not include the IPP project in the program me booklet and therefore cleverly avoided taking the minister to the project site in spite of the fact that
the governor keeps emphasizing that the IPP project as one of its star projects, ison course.
As it is now, governor Uduaghan just has 24 months to leave the government house for God knows where but it is very obvious that the IPP project is one of the projects already consigned to the dustbin of abandoned projects. It would be recalled that the Akwa-Ibom project, Ibom Power Plant, which was initiated almost the same time with the Delta State IPP project has since been completed and functional. Even the Bauchi state-owned IPP 110 megawatts being constructed by a Chinese firm is at the final state of completion ready for commissioning.
With over N27 billion already committed to the Delta State IPP project, the government keeps emphasizing that the project is on course and that the equipment are customized for Delta State alone, hence the delay.
But as at the time of report, even the construction of access road to the proposed site is yet to commence but the Commissioner for Power and Energy has a prepared photospread of some items covered by tarpaulin which he calls equipment for the IPP which, according to him, are stored somewhere he calls warehouse in Oghara town.
Efemena Otite,
Reporting From Ogharefe, Oghara, Delta State

Delta state to inaugurate power plant in December
February 11, 2014 by Our correspondent

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has said t the state’s Independent Power Plant will be inaugurated by the end of the year.

Uduaghan said this in Abuja while delivering a lecture, titled ‘Leadership-My Personal Experience’, to participants of Course 22 of the National Defence College, Abuja, a statement on Tuesday by the state government said.

He added that leaders in the country must to be transparent, sincere and run an inclusive government, stressing that “for a leader to lead, he must have strong self-belief and strong internal and unshakeable values.”

The governor explained that the Delta IPP would be privatised to ensure better management.

“Delta State in the foreseeable future should be energy sufficient to support domestic, household demands and for industrial use,” he said.

Uduaghan added that the state government involvement in the Benin Electricity Distribution Company would boost power supply to the rural areas which will improve the economy of these areas.

He said the state’s power plant would produce between 120 and 150 megawatts of electricity.

Uduaghan noted that rumour mongering, propaganda and destructive criticism were the worst of distractions any leader could suffer as such would create internal dissension, internal rivalry and insurrection.

He observed that the most harmful rumours emanated from those closest to the leader and decried the use of social media for rumour mongering and propaganda.

It will be interesting to see if Uduaghan will commission the project before his tenure ends. I know quite a few Deltans and their opinion of how's things operate there is not complimentary. Building a separate distribution network in lagos would be a nightmare, especially if the federal government is slow to consider right of way issues, as the city rail project has discovered.
