dakingsman: In addition to NNS Okpabana, we inducted 2 other ships into Nigerian Navy service. We are gradually growing the Navy, i think what the Navy currently needs are more fighting Ships and Helicopters. I understand NIMASA transferred a couple helicopters to the Navy, but numbers still aren't enough to cover effectively our EEZ. |

patches689: Nice to see you admit South Africa imports more Chinese products than you are able to export to them. Visit Shoprite, it's full of made in China electronics and articles. China floods South Africa with what you call junk products, your people love it and buy it daily, that's how China forced South Africa into trade deficit by making you a dumping ground for made in Fong Kong . 1 Like |

RM786: Providing Security is the sole responsibility of the Nigerian Government. At the end of the day, the buck stops at the desk of President GEJ. He takes the blame. The United States since the end of WW2 has been involved in over 70 wars/conflicts around the world. In all 70 wars, only involving the U.S, they have only seen victory against tiny island nations of Panama and Guam, i'm had pressed to think of another or more they've had Success in. I don't see the military justification the U.S commander has to claim the Nigerian military strategy is failing. "After 8 years of occupying Iraq, they are back in Iraq." Human rights allegations, I mean, these fools are funding terrorists in Syria, parling with known terrorists sponsors (Saudi-arabia, Qatar, turkey, kuwait), and selling AH's to Egypt, Israel, kuwait, colombia. They should spare Nigeria the gibberish and just say " we won't sell to you.", we herd elsewhere. As for the French............ let's just say, when the first colonialist stepped his foot on francias Afrique , he hasn't left. 1 Like |

Henry120: AW 101 Merlin helo offers best range for our navy, 6 hours flight endurance, but NATO won't sell us ASW armed version, they gladly sold us VVIP versions. NN needs long range helicopters like the AW 101 for maritime security . |

Henry120: Low thermal signature, reduced acoustic signature, low radar detectability in relation to size (an SAN 200 MEKO surprisingly appears as an empty "dead spot" from some angles when moored alongside viewed on low tech civilian grade small craft radar) integrated with sonar, radar, IR, optical systems able to detect, search and track other objects in passive modes at relatively decent ranges. Being able to successfully track and target an equivalent but more detectable opponent (same radar, etc) at a stand off range the other vessel is unable to successfully engage from. In terms of ships that's an abbreviated overview of stealth I think. However all the design elements and systems needed to achieve this are very expensive and not really necessary particularly for OPV's of the Centenary's nature which is ideal and a lot more cost effective for it's intended purpose compared to costly to purchase and run high tech "stealth" ships able to play hide and seek with fancy foreign ships. If the target is rebels/pirates and the vessel's systems are able to watch/detect/intercept them before they know they've been spotted then it's stealthy compared to them. |

agaugust: Uhh, no. China primarily imports primary products from us We import secondary products from them Secondary products are value added, meaning they cost more than primary products. The majority of those "chinese products" are american products built in China. |

agaugust: That's a pure lie. UN only put Tanzanian commanders and Nigerians because they are anyway poorly paid from their respective countries. Have you ever seen UN appointing US commanders? However, let us do away with negative talks and admit that SA military academy has always offered the best academic military training in the world for many years. It had always been recognised as the best in the world. Nigeria does not have a military academy to that level. 1 Like |

Nigerian Army admits that many of its officers cheat from their exams. I really wouldn't understand why would AU or UN endorse an application of a Nigerian Commander wherever they see one. It is such a scandal indeed. http://m.allafrica.com/stories/201303140386.html/ 1 Like |
