Before I answer, i have one question. Do you live in Portharcourt or Asaba?
1. You have to be precise ooo. I wrote a few. Trust me, they were all unique.
2. No, I most absolutely did not pass the 1st Aufnahmetest I wrote. I chose one of the toughest Studienkollegs and had to pay for it.
3. The aufnahmetest is just what it is. An entrance test. Do not let the multitude of Moroccan, Indonesian and Arab rivals faze you. Else you go fail ooo. For the 2nd part of the question I'd say "If u wanna know what the club's like, you really gotta get in". It's fun though if that's what you want to hear. cheesy
4. I travelled to Germany exactly 12months 15 days ago.
5. Wrote the Aufnahmetest 12months 1 day ago.
6. My current Studienkolleg belongs to the Uni Kassel.
7. Repeat answer 4.

We could communicate durch Whatsapp if you don't mind. I'm not always here on Nairaland. Except it's to see GMB Vs GEJ threads grin

Haha! The Nigerian election frenzy. I am more of the facebook person but anyways we will def exchange one. I will inbox you.

Random question, GMB or GEJ who are you in support of?

Oh and thank you so much on your helpful answers smiley

I had always wanted to ask you the questions the other guy asked.

Now here is mine (@ Scofield, this questions goes to you)

What level of German language proficiency do one need to attain before one can sit for the entrance exam?

2. How difficult is the entrance exam?

3. Where is the location for the exams (in Nigeria)

4. Are there tuition fees for the courses and at what range?

5. Can you confirm that the studienkolleg is not accepted in the whole state or at least available in the whole States in Germany?

6. Can one comfortably switch from a studienkolleg (which are all taught in German) to an all English taught course?

we all have younger ones (even if they are not direct family members) who could see that as an option or those who wanna explore that. Lets get your expert and experienced opinion.

please any studienkolleg student is also free to answer.

To quickly add to @Scofield03's input.

5. Basically the certificate received from the Studienkolleg is widely accepted in a lot of German Universities assuming that you pass the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP) which is given at the end of the 1 year study in the Studienkolleg you may then apply for Bachelors degree in your chosen subject field.

6. I highly think it unlikely to switch from a Studienkolleg with language of tuition as German to English, as I believe all Studienkolleg kurs are taught in deutsch. Before you can even be admitted in the first place for the Aufnahme test(Entrance test) into the studienkolleg, you must have some knowledge of German. I do not see the issue with learning in German though as you will be in more like an immersion class where almost everything is in Deutsch even in the streets of Deutschland

My 6th point is open for countering please as I wish to learn more on things I do not know.

Good evening family! It's been a very long time and I am very sorry for not coming here for awhile now..I feel very guilty please I am sorry, just been battling with stuffs here..because surviving here has not been easy as expected. .am sure our brothers in germany too will understand coupled with school workload and the cold.I promise to be active here to attend to questions anytime from next month. Lastly I must commend the virgin prophet eke40seven and some great brothers for keeping this thread alive, God bless you all And happy new year!

Habahhhhh ! It hav tey oooooooo.
Guys sorry for the leave of absence.

Ok I will check.

My simple advice is this, for those interested to make applications this year.
1) Spend time browsing the net, and daad website for your choice course and university.

2) Take ur time and browse through ur choice university's website. Please pay attention to details and salient info. Some school's programmes may have hidden opportunities.
Only the dedicated and diligent ones will see it.

3) Review the application requirements. Start now to gather what u don't have ready for the application. For e.g apply for transcripts, make photocopies of your documents, deadlines etc.

4) I strongly advice you start writing ur motivation letter. Ensure u finish it like in the 1st week of feb. Between feb and when u submit ur application, u have ample time to review, correct and repackage ur Mletter. By so doing u Mletter will be 100%.

5) There is nothing wrong to start saving for ur applications. There is nothing wrong in having a small save box, like those days of 1991 and co, put money in the box always.
By the time u will be ready to submit ur applications, u will be surprised how much u have. The truth is, some persons might not be fortunate to have money at hand, when its time to pay UNI-assist and this may cause delay. So to avoid this plan, budget and save.

6) Nothing stops u from sending ur applications now,if andd only if u are ready. I hope u know that? But if u are not ready, don't panic, applications are received until JUNE 15 for most schools. But be warned some application deadlines are earlier say April or May even March.
But if u have done (2) & (3), u won't have any problems.

7) Use all forms or reminders to remind u of deadlines. U can involve that ur little sis that never forgets dates.

coolBefore u ask questions, do at least 1,2,3 above.

^ thanks, I am applying for Msc, I'm set for deutsch bank acct and the sum needed. The admission is the way forward. Best of luck

You had ur Bsc in?

Which msc programme are u applying to?

Did u satisfy the basic requirement for d programme?

Is admission for the programme restricted, I mean the admission quota, restricted class size ?

Hope you MLetter matched ur interests, previous knowledge and future plans?

With a cgpa of 4.2, u should get admission, I am sure something is fundamentally wrong with ur application.?

Sincerely answer this questions.

Note that there is enough time to make applications and begin studies in october 2015.

Am currently in studienkolleg, M kurs is a highly competitive kurs in almost all studienkollegs cos you all are going for courses, which getting a place in most university is highly.competitive too, no be joke
Apply through uni assist with waec and minimum of B2 from Goethe.
Please give all your best in german, learn it well and brush up your maths skills too cos you would surly get a place in many studienkolleg.
My tip don't share with anyone, the schools or studienkolleg you are applying to as a M kurs student cos of competition from the Aufnamhmetest to Graduation from UNI.

T and W kurs are relatively easy to get a place in studienkollegs.

See dulling! When some people don get admission letter already.
This is the right time to get to work and search. If you have not started then I wonder when you would.

I see you mention a school starting admission by June 2. The truth is that at the point in time, more than 65% of schools' application deadline would have closed. Did you make it clear to them that you are a Non-EU or non German student?
Always check the course website to see the detailed info.

@bosakelvin, there must be something you ain't doing right, surely. Your GP is close to mine, so its either the courses you chose are not in line with your Bsc or you didn't submit the full requirements. Always check the course website in details.
on the other hand, if you doubt your eligibility for any course, you could send your transcripts or bsc course modules to their dedicated emails for such.

@styles2009, how much tuition fee is paid for studienkolleg? (I will do my research though)

@styles2009, how much tuition fee is paid for studienkolleg? (I will do my research though)

There's no tuition fees in most german higher institutions including Studienkollegs, what we pay is Semester fee, which is about 300€ every semester, with this you get a transportation ticket with it for 6 months.

After applying, 2 weeks to submit my motivation letter,2weeks later,(4 weeks in total) I was asked to come and collect the visa,no interview was required from me.
if anyone remembered, I wrote about being a volunteer with red cross as i was in Italy, someone told me, german officials like embassy and universities give plus points for that.

As it is hard to get into studies for Masters, I presume you should consider Bachelors program. When granted visa and in Germany you immediately start applying for Masters and actually going to the schools to ask the international office or student support, showing them your certificates and what is their advice for you. The university you graduated from may not really be important to the Universities you are applying to, you may be choosing a course which is outside of your subject field from the Bachelors already acquired, The certificate may to too old now and the Universities you applied to may have reached there maximum allowed international students allowed at that time

From my friends who wrote IELTS, they said it was easier. Some actually found it easier than TOEFL.

Wish you the best of luck.

You have done a good enlightenment job. I have always been a hardline protagonist against the option of studienkolleg as against spending a year in a Nigerian uni because of the language which one needs to learn from scratch coupled with the entrance exams. I would still advice one go for the former because of the challenge of studying a difficult course in a novel language. However, the advantages are there, thus, one would not have the language and other social barriers that someone who is unexposed to the language would and the opportunities for job during and after studies is far more present.

Though I would point out that yours was made far easier because of the fact that you did your visa processing from Europe and not Nigeria.

More power to your elbow.

A friend of mine wanna move to Germany for Holiday, 6months to be precise. He told me he wanted to work in his stay there, maybe the company he works for will probably recruit him or something but before that he said he doesn't have any idea on getting the working permit. We all know that without working permit, one will be used like a slave by the white-men and end up earning 10euros per hour. My pal ain't up for that task and he wants a real job that will make him earn 'Big' in his short stay, and if Future smiles on him. He might be retained. So does anybody know the tips on getting a work permit in Germany.

Your 'friend' is a dreamer, no full time worker goes on 6months holiday and thinking of applying for work permit. You called €10 per hour small money?

well I wouldn't say its easier than TOEFL. I'd only say its easier to score high because they approximate scores.

one other thing... TOEFL is much more organized than IELTS

Please, any TUM applicant/current student. I'm pushing my application but I don't have TOEFL/IELTS. Hope I will be safe with being a native speaker. My Gp is 4.26/5.00. I believe my Motivation letter is superb. Its just the Toefl/Ielts that's my worry now.

NB: because of the elections toefl might not hold on the dates for february as both dates are same
