BENIN-CITY — PRESIDENTIAL candidate of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu
Buhari (ret), in Benin City, yesterday, charged
Nigerians to constitutionally kill the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, through their votes before it
kills Nigerians.
His declaration came as Governors Rotimi Amaechi
and Adams Oshiomhole of Rivers and Edo states
faulted President Goodluck Jonathan for failing the
people of the region.
They spoke at the Benin City presidential rally of the
APC which held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Some of the dignitaries at the well attended rally
were the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party,
Professor Yemi Osinbajo; Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu,
former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi;
Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr. Pius Odubu;
former Minister of State for Works, Engr. Chris
Ogienwonyi, and all APC candidates in the state.
Governor Amaechi said the admission of the
President in Port-Harcourt, Wednesday that he had
not done anything for the region was an admission of
failure that should not be rewarded with another four
years.
Governor Oshiomhole on his part, blamed the
President for failing to tackle corruption, saying the
President kept a blind eye to the death of several
graduates who were scammed during the
Immigration recruitment interviews last year.
General Buhari, who lamented that every household
in Nigeria suffered alleged PDP misrule in the past 16
years, said Nigerians must ensure that they vote out
the PDP on February 14, and defend their votes,
asserting that an APC government will find lasting
solution to corruption, unemployment, insurgency
and poverty, which according to him, were inflicted
on Nigerians by the PDP.
Amaechi in responding to the claims by the President
in PortHarcourt that he had not done anything for the
region said: “The President admitted that he has
done nothing in South-South in six years. When he
could not do anything in six years how will he do
anything in four years. I have told Rivers people,
Eleme Petro chemical in Rivers State, NAFCON, were
done by Hausa-Fulani men. Our president who is our
son has spent six years but he did not do anything.
“All he has done is to enrich himself and other
people and our responsibility is to get a good
president who will do something for us and for
Nigeria. And we thank God that the President himself
has admitted to failure. I call him “I will do
President.” We will vote out this “I will do President.”
Once trust is betrayed you can never repair it.”
