sometimes.... i wonder if we Nigerians really do have conscience...

Buhari dat can't spell his own name should go on national TV to debate

For what if i may ask?

To tell Nigerians how he'll feed his 150 cows .?

c'mon...he should first of all tender his certificate b4 any debate... cos we all know he can't stand the amiable presido....

GEJ till Buhari fills his gap tooth n pronounce English words correctly...
Sorry to say were u 13 when he was at the debate in 2011 and jonathan ran away?...Claiming he ran away while in the past he attended one justify he has a good reason for it though wud have still love for him attend the debate

but buhari has a lot of explaining to do. we have not heard his plan and strategy. and he has fallen the hands of his supporters

he has proved to us that he is not intellectually sound. this would have been an opportunity to air his views.

We were not shocked. His refusal not to participate was a wise decision. It's not by force. After all, Jonathan disappeared from 2011 debate...
If you were Jonathan in 2011 ,you will not bother yourself about the debate,it was clear he won the election even before voting, through the I have no shoes campaign grin

Just the preparation of the hall I watched on the news. had the stench of FG written all over it. A repeat of the 2011 NTA debate will be highly unfortunate and with GMB exit from the debate we have got ourselves same 2011 debate. What we could have done different was a geopolitical zone debate as the campaign trains were in motion handled by the political science departments of universities like uniben Abu unilag unilorin unzik etc there are halls in the universities and sufficient professional to craft questions. The fact is a sitting president can't fail a debate organised by his associates as employees.

I have watched many of apc's presidential campaigns.

It has always been d same rehearsed lines of " pighting kworofshon, froviding emfloyment, imfroving fawar suffly etc " without an articulated means of achieving them.

I was only waiting for this debate to really access GEJ and Buhari intellectually in terms of policies and economics of governance and know who will earn my vote between the two, But this development has shown buhari is neither sound nor prepared to rule Nigeria.

GEJ therefore gets my vote.

exactly my position. go to the US and Europe. manifestos are not just promises you pull out of the air. they are professional statements of plans for governance with articulate, debatable and sustainable means of achieving them within the context of present realities on ground. abi Osinbajo thinks miracles will bring the manifesto to life and fulfil the promises.. i weep for Nigerians

In developed climes, Buhari's refusal to shun an all-important presidential debate would have put paid to his rating as a serious contender.

In Nigeria where primordial sentiments and ethnic chauvinism hold sway spurious reasons would be adduced to support an indefensible position.

This debate has been scheduled months ago so there is no excuse of being caught unawares.

Completely reprehensible decision if you ask me.
You are on point but when the same set of people that will conduct the debate are on the president pay roll(NTA) and AIT with their defamation of character...Won't blame him for boycotting the debate though it wud have been nice for him to still attend

I did warn egift when he was embarking on his failed propaganda that except the debate was held using Hausa language we won't see Buhari, vindicated again. The 2011 debate was a circus, this is the real deal.
memory fails a lot of people indeed in 2011 who was missing in the debate and who did a debate with only him and himself and Dbanj as moderator?

Re: Buhari Refusal To Participate In Debate Shocks Supporters by thunder74(m): 9:23am On Jan 30, 2015
Let us assume and conceed that AIT and NTA are pro Jonathan, how would that affect a live debate?
Is it that they are going to score the participants and Buhari is afraid of failure?
Is it that whenever a question is thrown at him, AIT will broadcast a different answer from his response?
Are they going to ask the candidates different questions?

I think the reason for the boycott does not make sense to me. I told my wife that the reason why APC boycotted the first debate last week was to prepare ground for Buhari's absence.

Let TVC or LTV Lagos organise another, let us see if he will still come. I doubt it bc this is 2015 unlike 2011 when there was no certificate saga and other controversies surrounding his candidature.

Dunno why in 2015 someone would.still be reasoning with their ass. Debates are not elections but rather an avenue to tell the people what stuff you are made of. Civilized and democratic governments do it globally. This goes to show that this man does what he wants when he wants and won't listen to anyone. This same man refused to show up for oputa panel but again, I guess it doesn't matter to some Nigerians. We have bluntly refused to learn from history.

Anyway, you can vote whoever you wish, your funeral. It's either he actually turns out to be the messiah you claim and clean up Nigeria or he chokes everyone to death while dragging down the country back to the primitive age.

Things have changed my brother. Nigerians are becoming more aware. Who knew before now that the Social Media like Facebook and Twitter will become very important political tools? The likes of Jonathan and Buhari had to join the Social Media in search for votes and solidarity. If Nigerians perception of Social Media politics has changed, so can their perception of election debates wink.

Am sorry, I do not share ur optimism. Our democracy hasn't yet developed to that level.
Debates currently do not swing votes in Nigeria. Next month election won't be an exception.
Considering this fact, it will be foolhardy for the General to enter into the killer party's trap.
