Relations between the Nigerian and US militaries have been strained with Nigeria cancelling training by US advisers of a unit that was supposed to fight the militants, who have captured towns and villages in the country’s northeast and vowed to create a hardline Islamic state. http://mgafrica.com/article/2015-01-28-inconvenient-truth-nigerias-jonathan-can-afford-to-ignore-boko-haram-and-its-good-election-politics/ 6 Likes |

Yikes. I hope such cynical political calculations are not actually the reasons for our lack of progress in the fight against Boko Haram. I think the article is wrong to say that Jonathan didn't win the plurality of votes in any northern states. He won some PDP-dominated states. 28 Likes 3 Shares |

So that means its ok for a President to sit back and watch the slaughter of over 20,000 of his citizens. What a failure that kind of President would be. 53 Likes |

Interesting....Cynicisim Two points from the article. 1.The crisis in the North , while not caused by the government is allowed to fester so as to prevent a large mass of opposition voters voting for the APC. I am not sure whether to beleive that...Boko does not pay attention to elections, or to abuja power play.....and this enemy is a far different one from the ones the Nigerian Army has faced over the years. 2.Distance makes the heart grow less fonder. Now maiduguri is not that far from abuja (9 hours by road on a good day).....so not much of an excuse. I think that blaming the insurgency on the govt is a misunderstanding. Boko is not your usual African rebel group...these are guys who have learned tactics from gents schooled in Afghnistan's harsh crucible.Govts do not crush insurgencies immediately.....see Rhodesia, China, Iraq, Syria, the UK, etc.....especially when your enemy is a ghost using ghost tactics. Also, there is a lot to be said about the incompetence of local leaders.....ie governors, LG chairmen. Someone described his LG chair on another thread as someone who just dishes money among his guys. And sadly most Nigerians seem to think that govt begins and ends in Abuja. Nigerians have to make their governors work for them...because if we did ages ago....there would have been no Boko. Of course....Abuja needs to stop running a Dutch diseased economy....and instead go for an industrial economy which means more jobs and an increased value for education. ......even among Boko's constituency. 25 Likes 3 Shares |

Let's see how it's gonna be The West always trying to cast doubts on the ability of President Jonathan. Basically saying if not for Boko Haram President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will lose this year's election is RUBBISH!!! If not for this menace we'ld have used most of the Billions going to fight insurgency on other meaningful project and by this time people we would have been cruising on autopilot to Victory. So saying this is like the President is fighting Himself America keep your lies to yourself, You armed ISIS, U armed rebels in Libya, one can only wonder where Boko Haram and their loyalists are getting there weapons from. 12 Likes 1 Share |

GEJ intentionally cast a blind eye on boko haram atrocities hoping to gain some sympathy from the south and northern Christians but it backfired. It's only a foolish president that will use the blood of his subject for political gain. The blood of the innocent is too strong to be toed with. Am not accusing GEJ for boko haram atrocities but a leader, the blame will be on him. It's the duty of every responsible father to provide and protect his household once he's healthy. It's unfortunate GEJ as a father of the nation has failed in that capacity. 10 Likes |

GEJ and PDP might be the sponsors of Boko Haram. The voting strength of the North has been drastically reduced by this menace. Millions of people have been displaced. I also think GEJ is trying to capitalise on what GMB said in 2011. They want to use it to discredit him, so it would seem as if GMB is the sponsor of Boko Haram all in a bid to ensure that Nigerians detest him 7 Likes |
