bignyash:

First of all, I know a ton. I have visited Harvard and there are a ton of Nigerians there.

I didn't say there are no Nigerians in Harvard or anywhere. All I said was that citizenship has priority in graduate schools in the U.S. Wife got her MS in psychology from Harvard in 2013 and since began her PhD. She got in with just 305 GRE score (disappointing it's not above 310 the assumed Harvard cut off), no honor, no publication, no research but only with her BS from hunter college, SOP and 3 recommendation letters.

Citizens have priority over international applicants, unless where there is little or no Americans for the course.

bignyash:

I agree that the admission rates between international students and US citizens are wonky, but it has nothing to do with citizenship. If you meet the requirements and they like you they will admit you. Simple.

cheesy It's either you are talking about undergrad admission or you don't know about grad admission very well. I hope you know that graduate school consists of MS and PhD? In some courses, the higher the level of the degree is, the stricter it is for international applicants. This is part of one out of many emails I got from admission advisor when I was inquiring about graduate admission (PhD).

Dear *****

Thank you for your interest in our graduate programs.

I believe the following will answer your questions and more. I must leave it to you to determine your competitiveness for admission based on the information provided here.
Please note that application instructions posted on our website have been updated.

All applications must be made online. Instructions may be found on the University of Louisville Admissions for Graduate School website: <graduate.louisville/>. All admission credentials must be sent by the institution or testing agency directly to:

Graduate Admissions Office
University of Louisville
Louisville, Kentucky 40292, USA.

All other application materials are to be submitted directly to the Graduate School (gradadm@louisville.edu ). Be certain to include your name and application number on all correspondence.

We begin reviewing complete applications for August admission in January and will continue until all available slots are filled. Normally, slots are filled by the end of February. We usually interview applicants as part of the admissions decision. On average, we accept 6 new Ph.D. students each year into the Pharmacology & Toxicology program and provide full fellowships to those we accept. One or two of these is usually an international student. Other applications are held on a waiting list, should any of our offers be declined. Offers to waiting list applicants are sent out after April 15.........

bignyash:

By the way, the number of U.S citizens who apply are more than the number of international students who apply combined.

Absolutely incorrect. Where did you get this general statistic? Some courses are peculiar to international applicants than the Americans e.g computer related courses, physical sciences etc.

bignyash:

I didn't just "bump" into your opinion because the person you responded to earlier was addressing me also. I was never rude to you. That is your perspective and I don't have to agree with it. smiley

I quoted ebdi not you. Your approach to my post was rude.

I don't even understand this @bignyash guy
He's rude and full of himself.

So distasteful

@imperiouxx
You're very right. Domestic students have advantages in many admissions decisions.
I heard it's cheaper for them to fund a domestic student than an intl student so that could be a factor
Your wife is a harvadian! Impressive!!
