OK ooo. But those who truly know ( in Nigerian parlance, people wey sabi), know that the shine has gone. The queen is now nake.d.

It's a tragedy really that a whole Co-ordinating Minister of Economy, CME, can not explain how billions (not in Naira) disappeared into thin air. Even the audit report, almost a year after, is still missing. Who and what will exonerate her? Soludo touched on corruption, mismanagement, incompetence, forgery etc with FACTS! No one has ever taken Okonjo Iweala apart, into pieces, as Soludo has done. This is more than pointing fingers, this belongs in the realm of demystification or perhaps deconstruction is a better word.

So I took the pains of reading this twice. Nd I must say it's a movie. I trust someone from madam's team would respond to Soludo with facts and stats that would present Soludo's fact as lies. The politicians have scattered everthing. Whatever madam brings out PDP guys would swallow it while APC guys would discredit it. As for me, I'd be reading and doing my own research. But let me state that both Soludo and Madam are good economists, who have served/ is serving this nation, and should both be respected.

True but there was little accountability leading up to the start of the decline in oil price, and even now. The missing 20 billion dollars would have been used to defend the naira better and reduce its slide against the dollar. There's a reason Soludo kept harping on the fact that Ngozi is coordinating minister. The buck stops on her desk. If the beurocrats in Abuja weren't listening to her counsel, she should have resigned instead of allowing a charlatan like soludo destroy her credibility.
[size=13pt]So, Soludo was there and she was "forging", yet he didn't say anything.

Suddenly he now "remembers" her forging because she called his policies disastrous?

Soludo has lost all my respect.

Soludo is a disgusting, two-faced idiot. Most of the so-called achievements he reeled out and credited to the OBJ administration (including the debt repayment) were recorded under this same woman he is accusing of incompetence today. Was NOI not the Minister of Finance and the head of the economic team under OBJ? Apart from deliberately refusing to credit her for the achievements during that time, what has changed in the woman between then and now?
Honestly I d not care about Soludo but you sound like a twelve year old. If they have issues, make I go commot my money sharp sharp. Just hope GTB isn't in the same ish.

About the economy, the fact that this is an election year will make things even worse. This year's budget will not come early because of the political period we are in. And the new government will be busy "forming the new govt". Before they select they people they know into positions, the year would be gone and with most institutions, especially banks, depending on such budgets pronouncements to.make decisions; the economy will suffer and even greater recession than envisaged.

I am sorry to call you out on this one.
If they ploughed the about $12Billion annually (money being lost to bunkering-400,000 barels per day) and Sanusi's missing $20Billion into the economy, and were sincere with their power reforms adding some MW say extra 2,000 MW, and resuscitating two refineries at least, the economy will not be where it is today.

Think about it. The major countries hit badly by the recent oil price decline are Venezuela, Iran, Russia and Nigeria. If you noticed that Nigeria is the outlier on that list, then you are right. Nigeria is the only one not running a socialist welfare state or under foreign sanctions. Gross economic mismanagement and corruption by them NOI got us there. No defence.

There is no movie anyhere,Ther is nothing complex here. The moment NOI started responding with personal abuse it was clear she had nothing to say. Would she have done that if challenged in the role of World Bank President she so publicly failed to clinch. For someone who has trained in a culture of transparency and accountability the ease with which she regresses to bestiality is revelatory ,

So with all we have been saying you still do not get it. You say economy did not collapse, oil price collapsed right? So what drives your economy is it not oil? Soludo already outlined why what is happening now wouldnt have happened under his watch and Obasanjo has concurred that. Soludo as CBN governor had a culture of saving and was trusted by all but under NOI and GEJ its a culture of spending and lack of trust hence money is shared as soon as it comes in.

If we had a culture of saving under NOI then for at least 6 months we would have been able to cushion the effect of the drop in oil price hence saving Nigerias economy for a time.
Its not about saving, its about diversifying the economy. Something that Ngozi is championing. If we cushion the effect for some months what happens after then? This situation could have been worse under obasanjo, certainly not better we have not forgotten obasanjo's tenure so soon. Soludo is just pointing fingers from outside which anyone can do. Ngozi's economic management is the pillar holding this nation presently.

What will happen after election will be a tsunami. Insurance companies, fund managers, stock brokers will all be seriously hit.

You are so right. Those Nigerian billionaires are already feeling the pinch. In fact, oba otudeko's Radisson anchorage is currently finding it difficult to service the First bank loan he used in building Radisson anchorage, hence the need to carry out ' renovations' and the recent protests by employees.

The future doesn't look good for an economy that isn't diversified.

Soludo's piece was epic and his narratives classic. Aunty Ngozi's reputation has been smeared in the mud by this administration.

The problem is most of you focus on her without taking note of the minister of Petroleum and corruption. Corruption affects economic management. Its not Ngozi that will fight corruption and she can't do anything about it. She cant step on any toes. Then the ministry of Petroleum where the bulk of Nigerian problems lies. If these things are attended to, then Ngozi will function well both in management and development.
