I was very disappointed when buhari said that GEj's achievements in education were empty, that's an insult to our collective intelligence.
At 12 fed universities, that an achievement that no past president has ever done, even if na mushroom university.
If you have ever stayed at home looking for admission, you would appreciate this gesture.
Question that need answers

A whole year of strike? Btw federal hospitals are still not open for over 3 months.

you will change your mind by the time you know what those hospital staffs are on strike for. Their demands are so unreasonable and selfish to the extent d federal government is helpless.

What are they demanding for? They want to be like doctors, which of course is not possible and very selfish.

I was shocked when I read in the newspapers that the presidential candidate of APC, General Muhammadu Buhari criticized Jonathan's enviable achievements in education sector. According to the report, he described the new Universities as empty, ill-equipped and poorly staffed,, only for the purpose of winning votes. He even blame Jonathan for failure of students in international examinations like West Africa School Certificate (WASC), the same examination he failed woefully (f9 in mathematics) in 1961 when Jonathan was only four years. In his usual hypocrisy, he refused to mention about 150 almajiri schools in Northern Nigeria and a similar initiatives in the south for school drop-outs.
Though, I don't expect a man whose notable achievements in education sector is..... Abolition of subsidized meals in the Universities, Banned students unionism, Banned ASUU to know the importance of education.
Isn't that foolishness for a man who couldn't build a single classroom either in primary school, secondary school or university to criticize a fellow who constructed brand new Universities, brand new almajiri schools etc?
Without bias, I believe last person to talk about education is Buhari.

Building the universities or school is not an achievement ,we have so many universities with lower standards and building new ones do not make sense, merging the universities together and creating a world class university that can compete with schools in the developing world is better than adding to the pool of universities .Brazil produces planes,Iran produces planes ,India produces the experts that do it are from those Universities contributing to the development of their country. For how long will you train people to carry files and speaking big big english.

Building universities is not an achievement? Do you mean the greatest legacy is no longer education? No civilized folk will buy that from you. Have you ever wondered why universities in Nigeria make their cut off points very high? Or you think it's normal to struggle or bribe to gain admission into university with very limited spaces. If universities in Nigeria are merged, have you imagined the people that will be robbed of admission? Last time I checked, universities including Harvard and Cambridge grow and develop over time. Thanks to history. I've been to some of federal universities myself (the one in Ikole-Ekiti and Oye-Ekiti) and I was impressed with the seriousness of activities there. I'm of the school of thoughts that every thing is not politics and if you can't commend a good stride, don't condemn it.

Still remember how frequent and prolonged strikes were during OBJ regime? He first introduced no work, no pay to coerce lecturers to return to classrooms. Now everyone has suddenly forgotten that.

It is not everybody that must go to the university,The society has placed so much emphasis on that and neglecting technical know how and condemning people that have specialized training like Buhari. The rush you have mentioned is because the system does not identify talents and skills of individual students so that they can go on to what they will do best .But just what society and the parents want.Am telling you about critical skills that are needed to grow a developing country.Brazil and Nigeria were at the same level of development in the past ,How come they build planes now and Nigeria cannot? You are talking of ikole ekiti. How come Brazil is more developed than Nigeria. There as to be a link with work place ,industries and Universities. Our roads are constructed by foreigners ,and you dont think something is wrong ,All highly skilled industries needs in Nigeria are done by foreigners .You talking of ikole ekiti .New universities is not an achievement to be celebrated its A normal thing.Standards to increase output in developing the country is what we are saying .

So you mean skills can't be acquired and developed in the universities so there's no need for a person with skill to attend university?

New university is not an achievement yet many score above average in UME and are denied admission because of limited spaces. Why do we now have many private universities?

Is it not to ease admission stress for those who can't make it to federal universities? Your argument is lame. Who told you that Nigerians are not into road construction and other engineering sectors?

You're comparing us to Brazil, right? Have you compared the past leadership of our country to that of Brazil? You think they wake up and just achieve that? Brazil has enjoyed democracy over years but Buhari terminated our own and he is seen as a messiah by the gullible ones today.

As it's often said the worst civilian government is better than the best military government. Buhari halted many development projects and some are still abandoned till date.

My sister, you can argue better than that.

Agreed he did but after how long? After stress and threats of no work, no pay which was first experimented in Nigeria on lecturers. GEJ has increased the lecturers pay higher than any past president of Nigeria.

You are really not getting it right.First of all Brazil had dictatorship at the same time we had dictatorship ,secondly Nigerians cannot construct roads Okay. All the major and huge contracts are handled by Foreigners. With High quality training,You will not need a Lebanese to come all the way from his country to get contracts and employ Nigerians for peanuts. New Universities are not needed in other lands you can have 1 university with affiliated colleges awarding the same degrees with checks to maintain high standards,Not awarding contracts to build buildings without standards. There are examples that have been done before in highly populated countries with results to show.Brazil as 250million people ,India, 1billion ,indonesia 250million with universities and foreigners also coming there to study. How much more Nigeria a country of 170m people .Education must contribute to societal needs and not just having it in front of your name that you have this education.
Buhari was a revolutionist ,he came to stop corruption and spent only 18months,In Nigeria big men don't go to jail,he showed that it was possible to maintain discipline and think about your country first.Do you know what would have happened if we had continued that way. In Ghana The revolution was a successful and they have maintained discipline and hard work

I was discussing with a colleague abt GEJ's achievement in the North and why the people of Katsina should hold him in high esteem instead of pelting his convoy with stones. I mentioned the Federal University he gave to them at dutse ma and the Almajiri schools etc (legacy projects), my colleague retorted that there was nothing on ground in all the 9 federal universities in established in the north. I googled, showed him pictures. I was embarrassed by what come out from the mouth of a Masters degree holder. He said "education was not a priority to the north. The North shall continue to pull us back, until we are willing to take our destiny in our hands.

Many people do not know that the reason for the establishment of those Universities was for self aggrandizement. If not, tell me why he hurriedly established one of those Universities in his own village Otuoke, less than three months after he became the president of the country.

The last time I checked, OBJ only increased minimum wage from N5000 to about N7000 but GEJ increased it to N18,000. Now tell me, who has done more for teachers and civil servants.

Sometimes I just try to imagine if the opposition had done a tenth of what GEJ has done, we'd be drowned out with their noise of over-performance.

GEJ destroyed the Nigerian economy ,so inflation took away the gains from the teachers, the subsidy removal devalued the pockets of teachers because they had to pay more for their needs.so GEJ has never implemented any minimum wage.Obj did that .

Lies from the pit of hell.
GEJ did not only implement the new minimum wage of N18000, he also created a payment system (IPPIS) that will ensure the new wage goes into workers' accounts without any illegal deductions by their ever-corrupt bosses.

You also need to learn more about separation of power and the responsibility matrix of the president and governors.
We seem to be holding GEJ responsible for the non-performance of state governors. I will use this minimum wage issue as an example.

It is GEJ's duty to implement the new minimum wage structure at the federal level while the governors are responsible for same at the state level.

GEJ did implement the new minimum wage at federal level and federal civil servants were paid the new wage however; state governors did not implement it.

So who do we blame for this, GEJ or the state governors?

I have only typed this epistle for neutral bystanders that will visit this thread and not for unapologetic Buharistas that have refused to embrace education and knowledge.

The NPN Government lead by shagari who was sworn in after the 1979 election became very corrupt with so many politicians stealing money,They even imported branded champagne for parties all the way from paris .The NPN Government was responsible for bringing in Peaguot automobiles, when their were other suitable car manufacturers that could have won the contract. The same year we signed with peaguot was the same year India signed with Mercedes benz.Do i need to tell you the result today.India produces their own cars with mecedes benz engines, and peaguot is still assembling cars till today.Buhari came and maintained discipline, in ghana they did the opposite they were fired to death. But Buhari jailed them. You need discipline law and order to build a country.Today billions have gone missing and they are so scared of Buhari coming.and you dont want a country like that, you want a country with generators .

fashola and tinubu too are used to the death of ordinary Nigerians. Throughout his time as governor, the health sector was poorly developed. When he left government house, tinubu had to visit UK to treat his knee injury. If he had done his work as a governor, he wouldn't have to carry his knee injury abroad now.
Under fashola's administration, lagos doctors were on strike for innumerable number of months. Things got so bad to an extent many of the doctors started leaving Nigeria for UAE . thousands of ordinary Nigerians lost their lives in the process. Mr, both pdp and apc are guilty. In fact, apc is worse because they pretend to be what they are not.
