dmcdad:He's of course the man of the match! Enrique can get him to be our Isco, who's been impressing in Madrid midfield. His performance tonight is the best I have seen from any of our midfielders this season. He possesses that Messi -like vision and close control. On this evidence, Xavi and Rakitic both have a fight in their hands to rescue back there spot. And of course this is the competition I have been willing our team to possess not just some untouchable starting XI. I'm happy Enrique shares this dream. I'm sure Rakitic will outdo himself next time he starts, knowing fully well that Rafinha is on ground to pounce. The same goes too for Xavi and Busquets. Go Enrique! Make our beloved team, the team of our dreams. 1 Like |

Now that was a cracking game One major difference from this time last year was that, despite going down twice, the team were able to raise their heads and turn things around, unlike last year's game against Valencia where the team just gave up and took the beating. For some reason, not sure why, everybody has a different attitude. Or is it Messi that seems to be gingered this year? |

AjanleKoko: Clearly Messi... I've said it before. He dribbles like a mad man these days. Zero tolerance shown to nobody. One good thing I can see and laud Lucho is returning Messi to the right to accommodate Suarez as a CF(which hasn't worked out well); that has freed up concentration of players on him. Unlike before where he gets fixated with four to five men at once, he faces one at a time driving forward, which is easier for him. Tata tried it last season in a few difficult games, but failed to motivate Messi to shine in that position. The biggest task for Lucho now is getting Suarez to fire up. He's been less potent as an outright center forward. His best moments have come from his interchanging positions with Neymar or Messi from either flank. Now should the team revert to the previous formation with Suarez doing a David Villa? Or should the team adopt a pseudo 4-2-1-2 with Suarez and Neymar as wing forwards, poaching to the center? |
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by AjanleKoko: 1:05pm On Feb 02, 2015 |
Mcleo007: I think Suarez, like Neymar, is just adjusting to La Liga. In the EPL he had plenty space, but La Liga teams won't give him that acreage to do his usual dummy and run into space. There are always lines of defence and players closing down as a group. In EPL, the defenders expect you to run at them, but in La Liga, they don't give you that time on the ball or space to run in. For me, Suarez will not score many goals this season, but he will next season. He might not be getting goals today, but the team is winning as a result of his good movements on and off the ball. He has great awareness and knows how to drag away defenders. Every team we have played this year, he's given them enough headache, and helped create spaces for Neymar and/or Messi to do damage. He's done well so far in my view. |

Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by dmcdad: 1:33pm On Feb 02, 2015 |
AjanleKoko:Messi seem re-energized I must confess, but overall, the team seem re-energized as well. At this juncture, I must laud Lucho for bringing back that fighting spirit that was reminiscence of the Pep era. Imagine fighting our way back twice in back-to-back matches, against two tough opponents. It is as clear as daylight now that Lucho is working as things are beginning to look different from recent seasons. We just need to keep improving as the day goes. Visca el Barca! |
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by dmcdad: 1:42pm On Feb 02, 2015 |
AjanleKoko:Your view is spot-on. Plus, in his first season at Liverpool, he had a hard time adjusting too. Infact, from what I have read about him, he seems to find it kinda hard adjusting to new clubs (first seasons though), with just a few goals coming in his first seasons. After that, it's goals galore. Anyone who doesn't see Suarez's input doesn't know football. Messi and Neymar are thriving, thanks to Suarez for unsettling defenders with his runs and movements on and off the ball. Imagine the way he took away Atletico's defenders' attention to himself, while freeing Neymar and a helpless Juanfran. As for the goals, they would come. And when they start coming, then... |

I couldn't watch this match but followed the commentary.. too and i missed the visual view.. I can see that Lucho is shaming some people already and the players are playing for passion and also for him. I can wait for us to lift the copa dela rey cup and also the champions league. |
