Case won't fly,Jonathan is legally qualified to contest. He only completed a term for which Yar'Adua had already taken the Oath for 2010. Now,whether he's qualified intellectually and in other ramifications is what Nigerians get to decide February 14 60 Likes 4 Shares |

Though their suit will be struck out but he will still lose woefully come Feb 14. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE FEBRUARY 14. * POWER : The power situation of the country will NEVER improve if this government remains in power, as the money bags supporting this government are the sole importers of fuel and diesel and they make billions of naira in profit everyday by gaining from the epileptic power situation of the country. * SECURITY : Billions are budgeted for security but yet nothing to show for it , especially in the North East of the country. Jonathan has politicized the military and made it equally Corrupt. The military, police, sss only flex their powers at the opposition and harmless citizens. *YOUTH EMPOWERMENT : Sure P and the likes are money siphoners the government setup to siphon money. Those who needed to benefit from it aren't as every penny is being embezzled by the same government. *TRANSPORTATION: Before you start pointing at the railways which is Jonathan's ONLY achievement, ask yourself if that is the same kind of coaches used in this present day world. Brazil, Czech, Venezuela, Mexico and others just resuscitated their rail transport and each country spent FAR LESS than what our government claimed to have spent and with a more modernized end product. * ECONOMY : Nigeria's economy is SINKING SERIOUSLY. Whether you believe Charles Soludo, Sanusi Lamido, and other economist or not, the truth remains that an economy tsunami is about to take place in the coming months. Over 30% of government workers, banks, oil and gas, Marine, insurance, fund managers, manufacturing will be out of job in the next few months. Ngozi Iweala and others can twist figures and refute the truth as much as they can but the truth is about to unveil itself soon. 69 Likes 7 Shares |

This is a lost case. There's no place in the constitution where they said one can't be president for more than eight years. Even in the Marwa and 1 other v. Admiral Murtala Nyako and others (SC 141/2011) case, the court held that ‘the constitution has no room for a cumulative tenure exceeding eight years.’ Emphasis on the word "tenure". Jonathan has only done one tenure of four years. The previous tenure wasn't his but that of Yar adua. Thus Jonathan is eligible for his shot at second tenure of four years. Also if you look critically at section 137 (1), subsection b, it says: A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if he has been elected to such office at any two previous elections. Emphasis on the word "elected". Jonathan has only been elected into office once. The previous opportunity he had at been a president wasn't via election but via Yar adua's death. Thus Jonathan is eligible to seek to be elected into office for the second time. I also recommend anyone who feels like arguing with me to first and foremost read and digest the entire content of this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1889229/adamawa-gubernatorial-election-im-confused Anyway, let's see how it plays out in the court. This election is getting more and more interesting. Obinoscopy: 45 Likes 5 Shares |

Nigeria shall rise again...... PDP,APC, they are all the same. but, We will vote you out not because there is actually a better alternative but so that incompetent leaders will know and fear peoples ability to elect, select and deselect. Why should we endure for another four years simply because we fear the unknown, if the unknown comes in and perform at the same level or worse, we vote them out as well. And so on until our leaders starts to lead and recognise the power the people have. Mind yu, we will collect your rice, your recharge card and your campaign money and still vote you out 22 Likes 2 Shares |
