@mamaomas, If u can, why don't u use your visa for the purpose of which u got It? I mean, u can travel even without hubby maybe in march/april for vacation which may nt exceed 1week. I think we should thread carefully as has been emphasized here times without number. Let us nt destroy the bridge for other people to pass. Sorry for judging u Buh I feel u knew u were pregnant but hid it from d VO. Madam, biko, if u av d means, go for vacation 1st. Tnx. 9 Likes |

[quote author=mamaomas post=30366636 Now 2 my questions... I have a valid US Visa which I obtained in November, was a few weeks pregnant at the time which I was unaware of (suspected though). VO asked if I was and my response was 'not to my knowledge". Based on what you wrote, two things can happen: Turn you back at POE or cancel your visa if you send the letter of notification. It's best you use it for the first reason you applied the visa for which was vacation before child birth |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by mamaomas: 10:31pm On Feb 02, 2015 |
@greenkamsy Thanks for ur response, d intention at the time of application was for vacation purposes and to be very sincere our decision to have d baby was an after thought after we had gotten our visas...at the time of application we didn't even think of having a baby there and yes I suspected I was pregnant but I didn't feel the need to give a straight forward answer since 1, It wasn't Confirmed and 2, at the time of visa interview, birthing in d states hadn't even crossed our minds.. Anyway travelling for vacation now is not even an option now cos of d extra expense and some other logistics....but thanks anyway for the suggestion I think we will just arm ourselves with all d supporting evidence that we can and hope for the best at POE. NB: rembr I said I'm all up for the letter to d embassy option as I feel it's d safest option going by what I've been reading here.. it's just hubby that is sceptical and I can't force him... so I wouldn't Intentionally "destroy bridges for others to pass" quote author=greenkamsy post=30370788]@mamaomas, If u can, why don't u use your visa for the purpose of which u got It? So I finally made it to Orlando in one piece! Flight was excellent and POE was smoother than smooth. For the preggies planning to fly Delta, please pay the extra cash for economy comfort, made all the difference for me- more space, closer to the front of the plane and the cabin crew treat you nicer I was lucky to get the very first row so I had enough space to place my hand luggage as a footstool to manage my swelling feet. Got to Atlanta before 6am and there were 3 other flights before ours, so the place was full. Waited in line for about 45mins, CBP officer asked the usual why are you here, I told him to have my baby, asked how much cash, I said $2k+, asked if I had paid the hospital and I said no that the rest of the cash was in my bank of America account. We ended up gisting about the Superbowl and NBA all star weekend coming up. He stamped me in for 6 months and if not for the dried fish my aunty forced me to carry, I won't have had to go into secondary inspection. All in all, I thank God for a safe journey and stress free POE experience. I noticed they were seizing a lot of naija food sha, Indomie included, I saw egusi, beans, so for those planning to carry food, be careful with what you pack. Looking forward to my doctor's appointment and hospital tour tomorrow 9 Likes |

Was just hoping for an alternative. .All the same we'll brave it and hope for the best, with plenty prayers too..Luckily our POE will be New york ( heard it's not soo tough there) Thanks a lot. |

mamaomas:My sister i would advice you to follow your heart and make the trip.most of on this forum are not experts on these matters neither do we work with cbp,so we dont know it all, we just advice based on experience,it would have been better if you had told the vo you were pregnant when they asked, but as you said you were not even sure then yourself I would advice you to be fully prepared (enough cash at poe, doctors corespondence etc) I have heard of people with similar stories that were successful and also others that were turned back too, Just be truthful and prayerful 1 Like |

lesplus1: NB: a friends wife sent this to me however she had her son 3 years ago. Also, she has a family member who works there so do your research. Conroe regional hospital. Natural birth was $2000, epidural was about $845. I paid an extra $300 for two days because he didn't pee till the second day he was born. Doctor's office was $1300. But basically, we should have spent about $5000 total, inclusive of scans, blood work, other things 2 Likes |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Amother4life: 5:18am On Feb 03, 2015 |
baauh: I will tell you one more time my brother.... If you indeed told the consular officer about paying $10k when you did not to get that visa...DO NOT USE IT. Tell your wife to send you a scanned copy of any document she has that will shade more light on this insurance matter. (she can snap a few pages and send through whatsapp)Anyone telling you to go ahead and travel with this visa doesn't realize the full implications. Use that ticket money towards paying down your child's hospital debt. If your wife decides to go the DS5525 route instead of providing the insurance documents then she will have to swear an affidavit stating the reason why your consent cannot be gotten. Do you even know the name of your baby? The hospital your wife delivered in etc? This is the time to begin digging yourself out of the mess and not get entangled in more mess. Do not travel with that visa! You will have many more opportunities to travel but in the meantime do this the right way. Do not burn the bridge for others intentionally. I will not say anymore on this topic. Back to preggy n poe gist Jare..My 4cents. 1 Like |

Please Google that to be sure though I'm not using him I'm using another hospital and doctor but he comes highly recommended. Good luck. 1 Like |

The hospital was Northshore LIJ New York. I have birth certificate too bearing me as father name. she send me on whatsapp before this fuss. I checked the hospital website they don't share any information or any other thing without the patient consent. I guess the bill of this hospital on new York must be very very high. My wife & father in law is not sharing the insurance company name. I want to try towards hospital since I have the birth certificate copy to get any records. will they help. Also any idea about the cost of this hospital. My wife had normal delivery. Amother4life: |
