faster, cheaper and more maneuverable than our new MBT.
You seriously wanna replace our T-72s with that?

what happened to the igirigi project. why are we buying foreign LAV's in small pieces when we could improve on our capacity to mass produce the Igirigi.
First of all the Igirigi is an APC and also an IFV, not an LAV. Second of all the Igirigi is still beeing massively produced. Thirdly the Igirigi is reserved for the armed forces only for now while the vehicles you are referring to are police vehicle. And also notice that only 4 vehicles among the 350 newly commisonned police vehicles were not produced in Nigeria. So please do a little research next time. take care

Notice that it is not a tank and does not play the same role, it is not even that solid, who is giving you all these verry wrong advices ?

you ll use your f7 to chase out a chadian MIG29? Or and SU30
How many aircrafts do the chadians have ? If my memory serves me well then the chadians have less than five military aircrafts. How many pilots do the chadians have ? The answer is 0. The people piloting their aircrafts are mercenaries, hired guns, the kind who will kindly resign if the had to fight other fighter jets and that is because they are not soldiers, they are business men trying to make a lot of money. And the last time I cheked the f7 was still a verry good aircraft. That coupled with the number of jets Nigeria poseses and also the number of pilots and air defense systems and aslo ground forces. And as well the fact that Nigerian military personnel are verry experienced and well trained and patriotic.

nobody said it was a tank. yes it does play some of the roles of our T72's armed with anti tank missiles
NighttWalker:

no the tanks are still needed in the fight. just that this vehicle will give our men a quicker, stealthier and maneuverable force projection advantage. you know one of the greatest disadvantage of tanks in COIN war is its speed and maneuverability. one of this armed with the Nimrod ATGM could start striking BH columns from 30km.

the f7 is a good jet, no doubt. the chadian army is small and depends on light equipment and transport, no doubt. they depend on paid foreign pilots, no doubt. but in real conflict situation things do change. a french supported and sponsored Chadian armed force was able to decimate the Libyan army. despite her 3000 tanks and airpower ( which was one of the best in africa as at that time). A captured Libyan C130 is still in service in the Chadian airforce till today.

Wait first of all Libya never had 3000 tanks, that is egyptian standard. You remember Egypt, the biggest army in Africa ! The number of libyan tanks don't even come close to 1000. (it is between 100 and 200 ) And i don't understand your drive, are you saying that having a lot of equipment is a bad thing ?Please just calm down. For your information Biafra was also sponsored and backed by france, but they lost. I don't think that not being beaten by Libya (which depends on who is speaking) is something to boast about. By the way Nigeria and france helped chad in that war against Libya. You love chad, I think. take care.
Let us not derail the thread.

Actually they don't nearly play the same role. "one of this armed with the Nimrod ATGM could start striking BH columns from 30km", you need missiles or artillery or drones or jets to do that, and I don't see anything on that vehicle that Nigeria doesn't already have. You are making up facts. A tank has its role and an LAV has its own role. Nigeria has both. Please let us end this debate, you can not replace tanks with chad's favorit LAVs.

behold The RAM Mk3 AT (anti tank)
Massive logistics or advanced communications systems needed to effectively use the missile.

The Igirigi is still been Produced. The Igirigi is primarily an Armed forces vehicle, and as we are all aware, we currently have an insatiable apetite for LAV's. However, Osun state government recently purchased a number of Igirigi APC's for their Police force, as confirmed by @Nigerdeltaboi's sighting.

Igirigi APC just out of the production line.

Igirigi in the field.

As you can see, production is on-going. The fact we don't see statements from the army shouldn't translate to "the military is idle".

Thanks for sharing the video, only things worth watching there was the drone strike and some military guys in there, wasn't interested in listening to our politicians. But damn that drone strike was fuçking epic, the picture very clear, couldn't help but scream hooollly shiiiiit when I saw the car blown up. I've watched that part like 10 times grin

By the way I think the car was on a suicide mission trying to blow up what I assumed as our T-72s and even if the drone didn't get it the tanks would have cuz both where facing same direction the car was coming from

I don't like Israel but their training is far superior to anything the Americans can offer. We really should be training ourselves now anyway, sending guys abroad for specialized courses is fine but we should be able to train ourselves.

Oga Henry, are we sure it was an Armed UAV that took out the bomb-laden vehicle? Cause, I didn't see any rocket launch.

my guess is that it was the tanks in front. the video may have been captured by one of our ISR aircrafts to show the superior target range of the new tanks. notice the distance of the tank from the target was clearly emphasised in the video.

The plume from the video shows that some thing came from above...the tank would have pushed the debris backward. I think its the ch3

This is a bit of a conundrum for me.

1, why would a UCAV hit a lone car when there are clearly 2 T-72's in the same kill zone.

NAF CH-3A carries 2 AR-1 AGM, why waste it?

2, I cannot see the AGM hitting the target.

3, the explosion doesn't seem like a projectile hit the jihadist vehicle from above, rather the explosion looked like a frontal hit.

The only thing against the T-72 is, from the video there isn't any proof to show the T-72 actually fired.

Anyway, whether it was the T-72 or the CH-3A, we have one less terrorist to worry about.

Something was released from the drone...
