A seasoned political strategist, Bolu Michael revealed the 8 real reasons why INEC postponed the 2015 elections. He stated:

"As a former political strategist, the postponement of the election by 6 weeks suggests Eight things the ruling party is up to:

i. Need of extra time to perfect their rigging tactics (because they are so jittery and the military has not been totally bought-over).

ii. To allow them time to elapse their remaining campaign tools of calumny.

iii. To discourage people from coming out to vote going by the principle of "failed expectation kills interest".

iv. To put President Jonathan's misdeeds further into oblivion in the minds of the electorate going by the popular 'Decay Theory' (GEJ will probably begin to do a few things right within the next 6 weeks).

v. To make election petition tribunals practically impossible as it requires 3 months to make and see through a case. It was this same government that changed the rules to this. Going by the new date, practically 1 month is left.

vi. Ample time to fast-track their court proceedings against the main opposition party candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.

vii. To make sure APC's campaign lose momentum as they now have much less funds available especially to re-tour the nation.

viii. To dissociate enthusiasts and swing voters from the FeBuhari syndrome currently working successfully in the sub-conscious of the populace by making sure the election takes place in March, if not, it could have been in the next 2-3 weeks which is more than enough time to perfect any election preparation imperfections. What magic will they do in 6 weeks on the insecurity problem they could not fix in 6 years. Wasn't there insecurity all along while they were busy planning election last week or even last month, why now when its 1 week to election that they suddenly felt insecure? The PDP is the one behind all these and the problems pervading the country", the man stated. He also maintained that if security was the real issue, the AU Joint Military Force offered to help fight Boko Haram was enough to guarantee peace in the North-East.

Furthermore, INEC's hands were twisted, they were ready for the polls, it is the PDP that are unprepared for the elections, these security agents earlier said they were ready for the polls. If INEC didn't give in, Jega may be sacked and the military being funded by the PDP-led federal government may in turn sabotage the distribution and movement of electoral materials, cause chaos at the polling stations and refuse to protect INEC staffs. INEC had no choice but to give in. And if the Military refused to play to PDP's cards, the federal government would stop funding them and make them incapacitated.

Hmmm, Nairalanders what do you think about this cos this man makes a lot of sense. He brought to mind true things I didn't even think of before.

***Constructive comments pls. Mature people only!

Every hungry fool who collects daily stipends from Tinubu in Bourdillon would come online to claim 'political strategist'. Yimu.

All your so-called reasons are baseless and unfounded. The elections were postponed mainly because INEC is not ready at this time, and the security agencies are not ready too.

A significant number of registered voters have not collected their PVCs in the Southern part of the country. Ad-hoc INEC staff have not been trained on how to operate the card readers and other devices associated with the elections. INEC has not mapped out a plan on how to deploy men and materials to all designated polling centres in the country.

These are legitimate reasons to postpone the election. . . . . more so when you consider the fact that previous elections had been held between March and April. Nobody in the PDP or presidency has talked about postponing the May 29 handover date, so why are you APC rascals unduly worked up? What sinister plans did you have in mind for February 14th?

Heaven bless your brain XtraSmooth! You are thinking.
I also don't know if adding 6 more weeks will force people to collect PVC o.
They've been adding days, no difference. Even public holiday sef, no difference. Maybe they plan to start flogging people from their homes within this 6 weeks ni o cos it makes no sense or difference adding more days. Moreso, Nigerians are last minute people, they stay at home cos there's still more time afterall. It is when its 2 days to go, everybody'll be rushing.

where did you get all this your information from? The PVC collection rate would still not be above 70% in most states if you considered the number of people that die since 2011, people that have relocated for various reason and people that don't want to vote. Jega claimed that they are ready for the election and the problem is that the federal government has refused to provide security for INEC even tho the army has had over a yr to make the necessary security arragement for inec

iii. To discourage people from coming out to vote going by the principle of "failed expectation kills interest".

I strongly agree with this , and the APC consultants should recommend a re-tour of all geopolitical zones, more media and internet reach and Buhari should use this opportunity to address the international community on his concerns about posting the election but his belief that if it was done in national interest all involved parties should accept it.

I suspect on the internal, many involved parties are also using this 'extra time' to hide the 'evidence' or bury it as deep as possible down the rabbit hole.

We are aware inec has not fully distributed PVC's. PVC distribution could have never been 100%; and if your argument is that PVC distribution should be 100% before voting begins - your mistaken.

In regard to your statements about ad-hoc staff training and logistics - do you have proof of this or is this another common case of 'talking and saying nothing'.

The political strategist is absolutely SPOT ON, particularly with regards to point 1. Any intelligent person (there are very few of them unfortunately) can see that.

Added to these reasons is also the possibility of the need to remove Jega - the one man who isn't likely to allow himself to be ' bought' into pronouncing the wrong man the winner.

Forget about Transformation Agenda - GEJ is on a Rigging Agenda. It has been predicted. Unfortunately for him, this is a gross miscalculation. Things will not go as planned.

This is where the problem lies. The campaign must have been calibrated according to the funds available and the dates earlier given by INEC. By this extension it means one still has to go round campaigning to sustain the momentum that has been built up since the campaigns started, this presents a very huge problem for the financiers of the campaigns. Where would the extra money come from??

PDP has a virtually bottomless trough from where they draw money to finance their campaign being the ruling party but APC doesn't have that privilege. PDP intends to use the extension to ensure the APC campaign runs out of steam due to inadequate funding while theirs builds steam.

I can only imagine the kind of threats Jega must have come under to have shifted the elections. Reminds me of Ayoka Adebayo's incident during Ekiti State guber election in 2007.

I agree with you. This is indeed a very sad period for our democracy. It was gonna be a revolution through the ballot in 6days time but being the monsters they are, they had to fight really dirty to forestall their eventual doom.

I just pray Nigerians don't let this discourage them. The path to victory is indeed a thorny one.

This is the craziest era of our democracy I have ever seen. The turn of event has created fear in my mind about what the opposition will incite in the mind of their supporters.
If eventually, GEJ wins this election through rigging or any dubious means, it will be catastrophic. The die-hard supporters of the opposition party will cause upheaval and this can cause civil war.

We should be civil this year, so as not to throw away our freedom to the military again.

The singular reason why the election was postponed is because they know APC is getting starved of campaign funds, let's see if they will keep the fire burning till the rescheduled campaign date grin

This is to tell APCist that they can't beat GEJ, He will always make the conditions favourable to his victory, GEJ is in charge grin

The two real reasons for election postponement

1. The last batch of 15million PVCs only arrived on 4th February and it will be unfair to hold elections 10 days after. If INEC could not do justice to 48M PVCs in 6 months how can dey do justice to 15M PVCs in 9 days?

2. The joint armed forces of Chad, Nigeria and Niger are on an offensive programme in the north east. Coincidentally the AU's decision to support coincides with the elections. Its only fair to allow the military conclude its progam now that we've got the corporation of our neighbours. Elections at the NE at this time will be a huge distraction

Did jega told you personally that the reason for postponing because of pvc collection. The man stated in his briefing that the security forces cant guarantee inec officials security in the NE which is why they are shifting the date. Inec never said that they were not ready, they claimed they were not ready, they claimed the security forces are not ready. Stop twisting inec's statement for your dubious agenda ( we all know Jega was forced to shift the date. It had been obe beginning of february).
We can now see that truly the late Andrew owoye Azazi's assertion that pdp is behind boko haram has been proven beyond doubt. You even claimed nobody in the pdp has called for postponement of elections ( why you too dey lie like this).
Your scared Oga can continue to shift the elections but I hope he remembers that he will have to handover to an interim government if the election is not conducted within the stipulated time.
Nigeria is heading for a state of anarchy but you follow follow fools can continue to pretend that it's nothing
