Nistelrooy played only one position, mostly as the lone striker. Rooney has never played as a lone striker. When Rooney played as co striker he scored 26 goals.

Last season Rooney had over one goal per match when the matches the played a lone striker were isolated. Meaning if he played above 30 matches a season as a lone striker he would score 40+ EPL goals.
