Goodluck Jonathan has always failed in Governance go to Bayelsa State you won't believe he once presided over there. He has nothing to show for his term in Bayelsa that why i'm not surprised about poor performance and how corrupt he's been. Lest we forget that on September 11, 2006, Mr. Osita Nwajah, the EFCC spokesman made a public declaration that a whopping sum of $13.5 million Dollars (US) was seized from Mrs. Patience Jonathan, the wife of then Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan.
GEJ said, 'she is old enough to answer for herself'.

So can you respond to the link or not. if you think you have a better case, please bring it or you can go to page 2. If you cannot explain the post away, then, no discussion. Defending Buhari is like looking for a premiership green football pitch in sahara desert.

Slide back sir wink

mortgages within 5 years at affordable interest rate.
Over 324 such housing units were recently
commissioned in Enugu this July.

geographical zones. LIFE Life expetancy under GEJ

(UN)
CORRUPTION
According to the report released on December 3,
2014, Nigeria scored 27 out of out of a maximum 100
marks to clinch 136th position out of the 175 countries
surveyed. This means that Nigeria has ‘improved’ by
eight points against its 2013 rating as 144th out of 175
countries. A statement issued from the Berlin office of
Transparency International shows that more than two-
thirds or over 75 percent of the 175 countries
surveyed this year scored below 50, on a scale from 0.
Countries within the 0-50 range are perceived to be
strikingly corrupt.
RAIL TRANSPORT:
Over 15 years, Rail transport had been comatose and
deserted. It took GEJ less than 2 years to put it back on
track and commissioned 6 New Air-condition Trains in
Lagos last.

Odukpani/Calabar, covering a total distance of 340km,

The last of the corridor is the rail line from Port
Harcourt/ Aba/ Umuahia/ Enugu/ Lafia/ Jos/ Bauchi/
Biu/ Maidiguri, 550km POWER: Privatised PHCN and
Power Generating Plants undergoing constructions in
different states. 37 large dams completed nationwide,
10 dams rehabilitaed and 49 dams being built
nationwide. Economy: Nigerian economy was rebased
and became biggest economy in Africa, overtaking
South Africa. Previous leaders didn't see the need to
do this. Single digit inflation and sustained growth in
economy. Nigeria's economy is the 26th largest in the
world. In 2013, IMF classified Nigeria as a Middle
Income Nation from the Low Income Nation it had
been all the while. IMF also said that hunger has
reduced in Nigeria under Jonathan from 16% to
14.1%. KPMG also listed Nigeria's interstate High
Speed Rail project as one of the world’s top 100
infrastructure projects. The rail system which is
currently under construction would connect all states
of Nigeria to one another. Economic growth has been
at a constant minimum of 6%per annum in the lsat 3
years Agriculture has grown considerably, Nigeria
imports less food and produces more than enough for
export. The airports now wear new looks unlike before
when they looked like Oshodi bus stop of the OBJ era.
Elections are now free and fair and no snatching of
ballot boxes. Some horribly sentimental people would
not do the needful which is to try to verify these
things, they would still
continue on their hateful trajectory. In all of these
things that the GOD chosen has done, indeed he
deserve a second tenure in the office of the
presidency. Vote for the GOD chosen, President
Goodluck Jonathan

I support Buhari for the following reasons
1)When Buhari came to power he arrested 4000 politicians for corruption, seized their properties and foreign banks accounts the prestigious New York Times attested to this. Buhari anti-corruption efforts also led to the collapse of a corrpt UK Bank. Also if you go through the PTF report of Buhari stewardship under Abacha audited by KPMG no where was Buhari indicted, but it did indicate people under him embezzled N25 billion naira
http://www.nytimes.com/1984/01/10/world/4000-ex-officials-surrender-in-nigeria.html.
2)Paid off our debt
3) Tried to fix Nigeria after Shagari regime with Akinloye,Dikko destroyed the country through massive corruption
4)Missing $2.8 billion while Petroleum Minister under Obasanjo: Here's a statement from NNPC in 2014 that explained this " The tribunal found out that in three years, NNOC had failed to collect its equity share of oil produced by Shell, Mobil and Gulf. As a joint venture partner, NNOC was entitled to 182.95 million barrels of oil production. But NNOC did not find buyers for its own share, thereby losing a potential income of $2.8 billion. But it was instead reported by the media that $2.8 billion was missing."

In the curse of their discussion the contractor told him many things in capital letter that GEJ has done well in the office especially in the area of Road construction, Agriculture, Education and so many other areas but the only reason he wants GEJ out was that he no longer get money any how unlike before because the job done will be verified before you are paid, this goes on to show you that GEJ is really fighting a lot of monsters in bid to fight corruption. God bless GEJ.

How did your post explain how Diezani Allison Madueke spend N10 billion on Private jets??

Or help unravel how Billions of dollars just disappear under GEJ's watch??

Or why NNPC and FG keep robbing Nigerians through various AGO, Petrol and kerosine frauds??

Or why criminals are being pardoned and pulled back into service??

Or why millitants, thugs and killers are now receiving multi Billion naira contracts under GEJ??

Or why subsidy payment shot up from N250 Billion under YarAdua to N3 trillion under GEJ

Or why oil bunkering is eating into large percentage of the National income from crude oil??

Or why Army service chiefs keep diverting monies meant to fight insurgency into their personal accounts......

Or after spending billions of Dollars, power supply has fallen even lower??

Or why your President is running after the "Fertillizer cabal" meanwhile the "Petroleum Cabal" walk, spend and fly private jets freely??

Are you among the fertilizer cabal? You sounded like it pains you that the fertilizer stealing has been stopped by Jonathan. No wonder you hate him so much!

[/quote] But corruption is still here. We do not fight corruption by gara gara. By the way, while he was locking up some people for corruption, there was no equal justice.
1. Ekwueme the vice president was put in kirikiri while shagari was in his palace. What manner of anticorruption
2. The number of years meant for the northern governors were less than those in the south after they reviewed their jail terms
3. 53 suit cases with foreign currencies were allowed in without thorough search with the aid of his aid de camp
4. "He gave Dede Sam Mbakwe 100-year jail term for stealing nothing and also went after his wife. Ambrose Ali was tried for an undeveloped plot of land and he was jailed for 75 years with heavy torture that led to blindness and later death. Jim Nwobodo and Lateef Jakande were jailed for 100 years for stealing nothing. Adekunle Ajasin was tried by a military tribunal and found innocent. Buhari ordered a fresh trial, he was found innocent again. Buhari changed the tribunal and tried him again. He was still found innocent. Buhari still jailed him. But, Buhari left his personal friend – Awwal Ibrahim – the then highly corrupt governor of Niger State who was arrested at Heathrow airport with £14 million. Awwal was never jailed. He was placed under house arrest in his mansion like Shagari for just two weeks and indeed released."

It appears this guys are cleaning up evidence against Buhari. I hope I am wrong sha.

[quote author=GenBuhari:

Buhari's economic poicy that reduced inflation  from 23% to 4% u are questioning?
Yes by fixing price of goods: You as a business man bought a can of milk at the cost of N5, displays it in your shop and a customer comes in to ask for the price and you say N6 and he brandishes his military and you are under arrest. Why? The government price is N4 per can of milk. You are detained! That surely had a good effect on the economy. Do you the amount of money lost while he was controlling inflation by price fixing? Did that help the economy?

Buhari' economic policy that paid off our debt in 1.5 years?

Oh no that is not true. Nigeria external debt increased from 5% of GDP in 1980 to 23% of GDP in 1985
Moser et al link above (p69).

You may wish to read Nwaobi's  scholarly write up. See an excerpt - start from page 8

The observed worsening economic and financial conditions and alleged widespread
corruption led to a military coup at the end of 1983.  The new regime (under General Buhari)
reinforced the austerity measures while additional exchange and trade restrictions were
announced in 1984.  The fiscal and monetary measures announced were aimed drastically
reducing domestic demand pressures.  The government also implemented expenditure cuts
and substantial tax increases.  The expenditure cuts were particularly successful in the short
run and they reduce the overall federal government fiscal deficit to a significant percentage in
1985.  As a consequence, the governmentís recourse to bank credit was virtually eliminated
and inflationary pressures were significantly reduced.
However, the governmentís austerity measures did meat with some setback.  The emphasis
on short run stabilization measures reflected the governmentís belief that Nigeriaís economic
and financial problems were transient and would eventually disappear with a recovery in oil
export prices.  In the event, oil prices did not recover, and it became clear that the
stabilization policies had failed to address the underlying economic problems.  Thus,
crippling import shortages and growing social and political discontent set the stage for
another military coup (under General Babangida) who assumed power in October, 198.  After
considerable popular debate, the Babangida Government adopted in June 1986 a
comprehensive structural adjustment program (SAP) that signaled a radical departure from
previous adjustment efforts.  It emphasized reliance on market forces and deregulation.  The
objectives of the SAP were to restructure and diversify the productive base of the economy
so as to reduce dependency on the oil sector and imports; achieve fiscal and balance of
payments viability over the medium term; and promote non-inflationary economic growth.   10
The key policies designed to achieve these objectives were the tightening of financial
policies; the adoption of a market determined exchange rate; the Liberalization of the
external trade and payments system; the elimination of price controls and commodity boards;
the decontrol of interest rates; the rationalization and restructuring of public expenditure; the
rationalization of the tariff structure and the overall lowering of tariffs; and the privatization;
or commercialization of most federal public enterprises.
During this period, some of Nigeriaís earlier anti-export bias in manufacturing disappeared
with policy reforms, and producers switched from imported to local inputs.  Particularly in
agro-processing and textile manufacturing, there was greater use of locally produced
materials.  The assembly-based manufacturing, which had depended on imported inputs and
been shielded from competition and market signals, contracted.  But the industry as a whole
grew by 3.5 percent per year (1986-1990); similarly, production of traditional food crops and
cash crops increased and agricultural output grew at 4.7 percent per year on average.
However, the gradual loss of macroeconomic control after 1990 eroded many of the positive
changes that took place in the preceding years and have begun impacting negatively real
economic indicators.  Although significant progress was made in the liberalization of the
economy, specifically through reform of the exchange and the trade system and the freeing of
prices, macroeconomic policy implementation remained erratic and failed to bring inflation
under control.

What Buhari did was to cut Government spending in line with austerity measure which Shagari had already lauched in 1982. You do not have to thank him for that.

Debt payment was carried out through reconciliation and this was initiated in 1983(Shagari) and completed by IBB administration in 1988. You cannot give him credit for that.
Adesola
It was not Buhari. BTW january 1984 to August 1985 = 20 months and not 18 months(1.5 years) as you claimed.
GenBuhari:

Buhari's ecomomic policy to preserved our currency at better than N1.00 = $1.00?

It was worse than it was when he came. At least you accepted 14.6% depreciation under a government controlled exchange rate programme that grossly over valued the naira. Shagari even faired better than him that aspect.
GenBuhari:

BB has no policy?

The policy is to eradicate corruption.

Fix power sector / electricity

Tackle crime and make streets safer

rapidly industrialize the country
How will he do that? He did not tell how he will do any of those.
It easy to say I will and I will but the problem is how to do that.
Let him tell us my friend wink

25 B : You said people under him. It is the same people under GEj that are accused not GEJ. So why should we change from Good to bad?
By the way, the 20B dollars has been taken care of by PWC. So what are you talking about?

Do you know that your navigator, OBJ is was the petroleum minister during his time as the president? Do you remember the Halliburton scandal? He is your navigator?

Above all you know all these because GEJ signed the FOI bill. APC states have refused to domesticate them

1. For you to have quoted me twice, over my one post, shows how pained you are. cheesy cry
2. For you to have left all the stated facts and claim lack of evidence, even with the PWC NNPC audit that is online and is in all the news papers and resorted to insults instead confirms your level of intelligence is not worth engaging (in other words, you are just a re.tarded, cockeyed hooligan. cheesy

9ijaMan:

Chief I thought my original reply to you would make you do a bit of extra research. I laid the basis for you to do additional findings and then make your point with facts. Below is a news paper article stating precisely the exchange rate between $1 and the Naira.
http://thewillnigeria.com/opinion/4759-THE-IBRAHIM-BADAMASI-BABANGIDA-SAGA.html

According to that article, $1 exchanged for 0.765 Naira (or 76.5 kobo) when IBB took over on the 27th of August 1985. Admittedly Buhari may have met the dollar exchanging at 72.4 kobo when he took over (but it can as well be said that he met $1 at 0.765 Naira, 'cos he came in on the last day of 1983, which is essentially 1984). It should be noted however that the naira was bound to drop at least due to the political unrest which may have originally been stirred by the military take over. But Buhari kept it constantly at 0.765 Naira (76.5 Kobo) to $1 throughout his tenure.

These evidences debunks your argument that the absence of hard currency contributed to the drop in the value of Naira. In reality the Naira practically did not drop in value compared to the US dollar when Buhari led the nation.

I'll join egift to solicit your apology to the OP, 'cos you have not only lied but slandered against the person of Buhari. At least you'll prove to be a different breed from the regular GEJ supporter!

Do not try to make Buhari what he is not to score political point.

There were two 'policies' under Buhari which actually affected the exchange rate at the time.

1. The banning of foreign currency
2. The changing of the naira notes.

The first one devalued the naira because of the scarcity of the foreign currencies while the second one created scarcity of naira which should have increased the value of naira.

Both of these measures were artificial and were not sound economic policies.
Unfortunately the effect of the second policy was not strong enough to counter the effect of stifled forex flow  so the
value of the naira kept depreciating.

There is no way you can explain that away.

The value of the naira when he took over was 0.72 to a dollar which you accepted and when he left office, it was  0.89. That was 36.4% depreciation from when he took over and he could not do anything about it with his draconian policies.

I support GEJ because he is the all round best amongst the lot.
He has clear road maps which BB does not have except for his flawed claim to sainthood. I read through his Kaduna campaign speech and there were no clear solutions. Everything was vague! There was no road map on how to tackle all the issues he raised. He was able to point out the problems like all of us can but he ended up criticising PDP without proffering any solutions.

Instead of apologising to you, I will thank you for informing me.
I did not blaspheme BB, the over all context was that the Forex depreciated under his regime and that has not changed.

Published: March 14, 1984

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 13—Brazil has won an international bidding contest to refine Nigerian oil this year, the state oil company, Petrobras, announced today.
The $1.2 billion agreement calls for Brazil to import Nigerian crude and return refined gasoline, jet fuel and diesel oil to Nigeria, a Petrobras spokesman said. He added that the accord would allow Brazil to reduce its idle refining capacity and earn a margin of profit.
Brazil imports about two-thirds of the one million barrels of oil it consumes daily, mostly from the Middle East. It buys 10,000 barrels daily from Nigeria.

Youre very dishonest and a fraud I saw your reply against my post and how you twisted facts. Jim Nwoboo was sent to jail for stealing $5.1 million dollars,Ekweme $50,000 was found in his house and he had some impropriety in the award of contracts. When you say Northerns received longer jail term is a lie Governor of Kano was given 300 years in jail,Umaru Dikko a Northern was also persued by Buhari in the UK

I will so want to argue this. And at the same beam a search light on his oponnent. The reason he is not getting money as before could be because his inflated contracts are rejected.

Your reserves(excess crude) got depeleted by your governors who does not want to save and they the same people running their mouths now.

How can you write no4 after number 3?

We all know that NNPC is corrupt. The PIB is supposed to enable the unbondling of NNPC but your APC/north controlled house refused to allow that. Where is the PIB? In the house

You saw crude theft? Did you report to anybody? if you did not report to any security agent, then you are part of the problem.

Now, you have agreed that NNPC is corrupt, right? Cool. What has the petroleum minister done to bring the corrupt officials under her to book. Let's say that she has not done anything simply because she is a part of it. What has her boss (the president) done about it.
Crude oil theft is been orchestrated and carried out by those authorities that are supposed to be safe guarding the crude. So its like asking me to report a thief to his boss for doing his job.
Our governors are also corrupt but you can't remove GEJ from the mix as regards our reserve. Plus, why are we deeper in debt after a period of oil boom. Where is the money. Some states have even come out to deny receiving federal allocations and the federal government has not refuted their claims, Ambode used to be in charge of lagos accounts and he claimed that the FG was owing lagos more than 50 billion.
Plus, the contractor did not specify that his contracts were not inflated. During obasanjo's tenure, I heard that he actually gave out the same contract twice, only for it to be brought back the 3rd time and that was when he recognised that he had signed those same docs before.
If you want to claim that GEJ is not corrupt because he has not been found guilty, I believe that the same should be said about Bola Ahmed.
In the mean time, the next round of origin is on you. tongue

That was 3 months into Buhari Regime he came to power December 1983, Shagari regime had destroyed the refineries and their refining capacity through massive corruption and not maintaining the refineries. That is why Buhari awarded the contract the Shagari regime was almost as corrupt as Goodluck Jonathan regime.
